Common Questions and Answers about How to increase blood platelets naturally

Avatar f tn Low Platelets are nothing to fool with, your daughter should be in a hospital being watched by Dr's. I went thru this with my daughter when she was 13 months old. We had to admit her to Vanderbilt childrens hospital, where they have to do differents blood test and do you know that with platelets so low she is considered a free bleeder. If she hits her head or anything on her body hard it can cause internal bleeding.
3093770 tn?1389742726 Hi everyone I am trying to get prepared for starting tx (not sure when) As I already have lowish platelets and the tx will drop them even more I wonder if there is any natural way to increase platelet number A colleague at work had idiopathic trombocytopenia and at start doctors wanted to take his spleen out as he bottomed to 10. As he was not keen on that as you can imagine he was put on some steroids and also he started taking Ginseng.

PLATELETS X 100000/UL (2-9) Platelets are the primary blood clotting mechanism in a dog’s body. When a dog presents a problem of excessive bleeding, this is one of several tests worth undertaking. Unexplained anemia and blood in the urine are also good reasons for undertaking this test.
Avatar f tn Medicines are available to treat this condition, but certain foods contain the nutrients you need to increase your blood platelets. Eat Your Leafy Greens When you are injured, proteins are activated to start a series of events to clot your blood and stymie the bleeding. These proteins rely upon vitamin K to get the job done. Without this nutrient, you can’t effectively clot blood and halt bleeding. The adequate intake for kale is 120 micrograms a day for men and 90 micrograms for women.
Avatar n tn This has got to be due to a vitamin C with Bioflavinoids deficiency! Aspirin depletes vitamin C and so does stress and many other things. You need a good multi vitamin and mineral plus at least 1000 mg. vitamin C plus bioflavinoids. The Bioflavinoids help keep the veins and arteries strong.
Avatar n tn How low were your platelets going into tx? Mine were low 130 going into tx, but no one ever told me why. Are you unplugged now? What does a plugged liver do? Since my wonderful dr. didnt give me a BX I have no idea what I am dealing with as far as damage. I am sorta looking for a stage 0 when all this tx is said and done. I know that's really wishful thinking, but this ignorance can be bliss!
351317 tn?1204755471 Hi, I came across this thread researching Serotonin levels and how to measure them and how to raise them. I have very low levels as per a blood test. The serum blood test is, I believe, as mentioned, measured indirectly. The doctors and psychiatrists I've spoken with don't seem to have any answers to any of my questions, but it doesn't surprise me. They usually aren't the best at pharmacological issues.
Avatar n tn When I urinate after, more blood comes out along with a medium to large size blood clot. The size of the clot depends on how much time elapsed between ejaculation and urination. Once the blood clot has passed through, there's no more blood and the next urinations are clear. Over the years, I made some mistakes and learned a few things along the way. 1. No medication I tried never made any difference. 2.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking a supplement from All In One Nutrition called Hep C Complete, which contains Selenium, Milk Thistle and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Im feeling slightly better, will need to see blood tests to get a better picture, May 2008. Would like to hear from anyone on what their regime is on supplements and how they work for them.
Avatar f tn It’s likely they will soon perform an endoscopy (upper GI) to determine the damage he has done to his stomach and throat. This is how they will find the Varices (blood vessels on the verge of bursting). The shaking is normal also, it is just part of the detox he is going through. It will become less and less.
325477 tn?1250554909 I can't wait to see who is going next. I don't know how I got the strength to push the baby. Thanks to God! I prayed to mother Mary to give me the strength to deliver the baby. Anya- don't worry too much dear. Everything will be fine. Before going to the labor they are going check you blood levels including platelets. Yours will be fine. Don't worry.
1018470 tn?1251337123 I'm wondering if I could get to advice as to how much Naturthroid to start verses my Levothyroxine. I have looked up the conversion from Naturthroid's website, but everyone says to go slow. I just had blood work done last Thursday (2-28-13). I haven't gotten the lab report yet, but hoping I will from my doctor's office today. I know I'm probably asking to soon before you have my new labs, but I am wanting to get some good advice .
Avatar f tn Niko! I don't know how to thank you! The protein powder you suggested worked well for me, and I had no immune response to it. Also, it is way yummier that plant protein. but, here's the best news: I tested positive for H. Pylori bacteria, and will begin treatment for it today! After more than two years of suffering, debilitation, specialists and tests, I actually have a diagnosis that is treatable! I had resigned myself to living like this, and you, my friend took the time to help me.
Avatar f tn he's not even there yet after half way through treatment. It just goes to show - I wonder HOW MANY people truly believed they were UND that never really were. If a doctor doesn't give a really really sensitive test (like Heptimax) at week 24 - you just DONT know if you are or not. But.........most people don't know that and at least you do. Hub needs to change treatment - you are right. It's just not working. I pray all of the best for you and he. God this disease just isn't fair!
Avatar m tn Once people get to UND they don't come around to tell people how wonderful they are doing. Once in a while they will check in to let us know how they are but on a daily basis most people are coming here for help I think, before you respond to someone negatively you should check their history. Hector is the best, he has ESLD and cancer, he does not need to come here to help us but he does and he does it in a kind and caring way.
Avatar m tn To help with elevated Lp(a) use fish or squid oil (1 or 2 g daily) and either one of two natural clot-busting enzyme supplements, nattokinase (50 mg twice a day) or lumbrokinase, (20 mg one to two times daily). Also up to 2 grams daily of niacin. It needs to be regular niacin not the none flush niacin. you could experience the niacin flush. To deal with the flush start at a very low level (about 100 mg) and then very slowly increase the dosage.
789911 tn?1368640383 I am going to tell you which tests my doctors odered. Maybe that will give you an idea of how many things they have to test for in order to rule out or rule in a disease. I originally had these screening tests, ordered by my ENT doctor at the University: ANA, ESR, CRP, c-ANCA, and RF. 2 months later, when I saw my Rheumatologist, she ordered the following tests, some of which contain several specific tests for specific diseases.
Avatar f tn their are assistance programs if you do not have any money that may be able to help. procrit is not used to increase platelets, it is used to increase hemoglobin if you develop hemolytic anemia from taking ribavirin which happens in about 20-30% of people that treat. Most people are not symptomatic until they have very advanced liver disease. Many of us have had this disease for 30-40 years without symptoms and with minimal liver disease.
1654058 tn?1407162666 That's just my theory or hopefully he's right and my platelets will stabilize. Good Luck Karen, I'll be watching to see how you are doing as we are in somewhat of the same position, but I don't think your platelets are that low either.
Avatar f tn I am now PCRU for 9 years. I do not have to have a BMB anymore unless they see an increase showing in my blood count which could mean a mutation going on. At this point, they do not feel the disease would progress as long as I stay on my medication. They are doing and learning so much more every year about CML, and they feel they are close to a cure in the near future. Do either of you have Lymphoma, or are you doing this to help others because of having a family member maybe with the disease.
1722607 tn?1335751458 I want to look them up thru my insurance to see how much they will cost me if needed. Just trying to budget how much treatment could end up costing.
Avatar n tn They can cause decreased levels of red and white blood cells and platelets. This may cause an increased risk of infection, serious bleeding, anemia, and other problems and lower the activity of the immune system making you susceptible to infections. Some brands interferes with the conversion of T4 to T3. T-3 is used for conversion problems. But some people say they feel better taking it. However there is no scientific study that proves such, in fact the opposite.
Avatar m tn The released stem cells then follow the concentration gradient of these compounds and leave the blood circulation to migrate to the organ where they proliferate and differentiate into cells of this organ, supporting the natural process of renewal
895634 tn?1283992810 Viral load undetectable at 8 days into treatment with Telaprevir + Riba + Interferon. Am very happy about this but platelets dropped to 37. Dr. wants to put me on Promacta to raise platelets. Anybody have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn and not mutated to a drug-resistant variety or are they planning to play it by ear and determine that by how your VL responds to restarting tx? I'm eager to hear about this and excited that you get another chance so soon. I hope your platelets can be managed better this next time. Good luck!
1280753 tn?1367761532 Has your doctor discussed the HCV protease inhibitors with you yet? These look very promising as an adjunct to the current treatment meds, and appear to increase efficacy as well as reducing treatment time/lesson exposure to interferon in some cases.
1118724 tn?1357014191 as far a platelets go, lots of ways to increase naturally these...I use blueberries, and alpha lipoic...some sites for fols with ITP have lots of suggestions for increase...lowering sugar and saturated fats etc. If you do have to start tx over, or you relaspe or rebound because of all this, I'd definitely suggest you get another doc. 30 years has not improved him, it has jaded him to the point where who succeeds and who fails no longer matters. It happens...sounds like burn out to me....
