Avatar n tn Cough, chest tightness and breathlessness the three symptoms are the triad of symptoms for Asthma. It is a disease affecting the lungs causing narrowing of the airways, usually due to an allergic reaction to triggering factors. Therapy is with bronchodilators which cause the airways to dilate. Have yourself evaluated for the same. This can be detected by a spirometry test. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

(I am having a stress test this week to help rule out a heart condition. 2 EKGs have been normal.) My other symptoms are: joint/bone pain severe fatigue waking up in the middle of the night weird random cold sensations night sweats depression weight gain (I'm 5' 5" and about 133 lbs.
Avatar n tn The majority, of instances of shortness of breath with exertion, are caused by impaired function of the heart or lungs. People may have both heart and lung disease. In this situation it may be difficult, but not impossible, to determine which organ, heart or lungs, is the cause. Your mention of the stent suggests that you have a history of heart disease. That may or may not give us a clue about your current heart function.
Avatar n tn Shortness of breath, weight loss, & constant cough; are these symptoms of HIV?
Avatar f tn My problem is that for the past year I have had some episodes of shortness of breath that appear to come out of the blue. It usually happens when I am up walking about, but I have also experienced it while sitting reading a magazine. During these spells, it really seems like I could use some extra air or oxygen like the football players get. I really have trouble catching my breath. After 10 or 15 minutes, my symptoms get better and I am back to my normal self.

Avatar m tn Shortness of breath can be a symptom of serious heart or lung disease but, especially when accompanied by yawning and is lessened by “”increased physical activity, standing, walking or just moving around” it is highly likely to be a reflection of anxiety. You didn’t mention what your doctor thought or recommended but, because of the possibility these symptoms are more secondary to physical disease, it would be wise to follow your doctor’s advice.
619038 tn?1221337908 Shortness of breath is one of the symptoms of autoimmune hemolytic anemia. I found it on the list of symptoms of AIHA in a medical dictionary. I think VP **** Cheney has had the same symptoms with it being unrelated to any heart issue. Do you recall a time of flu symptoms or eyes burning and hurting? If the air conditioner leaks, the chemical I'm concerned about that causes this type of anemia ... is a component of what keeps air conditioners cooling.
Avatar n tn s a good chance you are iron deficient and have anemia if you are having shortness of breath increased during your time of month. This can make dysautonomia symptoms worse. (personal experience) Your iron level can be low and your CBC in normal range, so, please ask for blood iron and ferritin levels, not just the standard CBC to check.
Avatar f tn Funny thing is that I still have the shortness of breath as well. And I am 12 weeks out from partial removal of the thyroid. So this must be thyroid related.
Avatar m tn Shortness of breath is a common symptom that can be caused by a long list of possible underlying problems. The safest course of action would be to see your physician. Your doctor can take a careful history, conduct a physical exam, and then order appropriate tests. Without any additional information, it would not be possible to answer your question in an accurate manner.
Avatar f tn I've wrote on here before, but I have other questions. I've had shortness of breath for about 3 months now. I have recently had a pulmonary function test where I blew into a spirometer (sp?). My general doctor told me the results came back abnormal and is sending me to a pulmonary doctor. I had a chest x-ray done that showed a calcified mass (non-cancerous).
Avatar m tn However, monday I randomly began experiencing shortness of breath accompanied by me not having much of an appetite. I really don't know what's up and I went to a doctor, my oxygen level was fine, I don't have allergies or asthma they said my heart was fine so I don't really know what's up has anyone experienced anything like this or any advice please?
Avatar n tn However, they are not to be taken lightly and MUST be discussed with your Dr. Shortness of breath and chest pains can be symptoms of Heart Problems. I have had a Heart Attack and know what to expect, and I was not overly concerned. But I did immediately discuss this with my Dr.
Avatar m tn I've been having bulging veins in the very back of my throat, accompanied by about 19 small blister sacs that are filled with white fluid. The fluid has turned to yellow recently because I've had this for about 1 and half of a month. I've been to the doctor weekly and have had tests for mono, strep, HIV, and my wbc count is normal. They don't know what it is so I'm going to an ENT specialist soon.
Avatar m tn On January 18th, I experienced a tight chest during a family dinner that caused me to leave early. I took 1.5MG of Ativan after about 1.5 hours of this tight chest and shortness of breath. This seemed to be classic symptoms of a panic attach, which I have never experienced in my life. There was no obvious triggers as the family dinner was pleasant. The 19th I experienced no breathing problems at all. The 20th I had shortness of breath that came and went.
Avatar n tn I am 24 year old female with a history of panic attacks and high anxiety. I have been a pack-a-day smoker since I was 18. Lately I have been experiencing a shortness of breath that doesn't seem to go away and is making my anxiety worse. I have been to the doctor and expressed my concern about this, but they seem to be chalking it all up to my anxiety symptoms. My o2 stats have been in the normal range (usually 97-98%), but I feel I am not breathing normally.
Avatar n tn aweeonetolove - I had that same shortness of breath while teaching today, too! I was also REALLY hot in my class today, too- I posted about my symptoms in the symptoms thread just a minute ago, but I did get that shortness of breath today and it was really frusturating - hopefully that symptom won't last long.
Avatar n tn Hi, for the last couple of years i have expieranced (I guess) heart palpatations and shortness of breath. I went to the doctor and they did an EKG which came back normal. They told me to cut back on cafine (which I did not do). The same thing kept happening every now and then. I would sometimes get light headed and confused on my surrondings. Than as fast as these symptoms came they would be gone. Now, a couple years later and 15 weeks pregnant they are still happening. Now I am more worried.
