I have no other symptoms other than shortness of breath and coughing...no skin rash or arms/lymph node swollen..etc my weight is pretty consistent....
But I am extremely worried that I may have advanced HIv infection....please give me your opinion...I am afraid to go to doctor for hiv testing...this is something I can't take it if I find out if I have hiv disease...
I had a condom breakage 8 days ago, pulled right out. I have had stomach pains in the past week with shortness of breath. Is this too early for Acute HIV symptoms? Please, I'm beyond worried.
Cough, chest tightness and breathlessness the three symptoms are the triad of symptoms for Asthma. It is a disease affecting the lungs causing narrowing of the airways, usually due to an allergic reaction to triggering factors. Therapy is with bronchodilators which cause the airways to dilate. Have yourself evaluated for the same. This can be detected by a spirometry test.

Last month, my pulmonologist told me that I am D deficient (my level is 20 and I am taking 5,000/day) and I was wondering if others with Vitamin D deficiency experience shortness of breath? (I am having a stress test this week to help rule out a heart condition. 2 EKGs have been normal.)
My other symptoms are:
joint/bone pain
severe fatigue
waking up in the middle of the night
weird random cold sensations
night sweats
depression
weight gain (I'm 5' 5" and about 133 lbs.
The majority, of instances of shortness of breath with exertion, are caused by impaired function of the heart or lungs. People may have both heart and lung disease. In this situation it may be difficult, but not impossible, to determine which organ, heart or lungs, is the cause. Your mention of the stent suggests that you have a history of heart disease. That may or may not give us a clue about your current heart function.

My problem is that for the past year I have had some episodes of shortness of breath that appear to come out of the blue. It usually happens when I am up walking about, but I have also experienced it while sitting reading a magazine. During these spells, it really seems like I could use some extra air or oxygen like the football players get. I really have trouble catching my breath. After 10 or 15 minutes, my symptoms get better and I am back to my normal self.
Shortness of breath can be a symptom of serious heart or lung disease but, especially when accompanied by yawning and is lessened by “”increased physical activity, standing, walking or just moving around” it is highly likely to be a reflection of anxiety. s a good chance you are iron deficient and have anemia if you are having shortness of breath increased during your time of month. This can make dysautonomia symptoms worse. (personal experience) Your iron level can be low and your CBC in normal range, so, please ask for blood iron and ferritin levels, not just the standard CBC to check.

I've wrote on here before, but I have other questions. I've had shortness of breath for about 3 months now. I have recently had a pulmonary function test where I blew into a spirometer (sp?). My general doctor told me the results came back abnormal and is sending me to a pulmonary doctor. I had a chest x-ray done that showed a calcified mass (non-cancerous).
However, monday I randomly began experiencing shortness of breath accompanied by me not having much of an appetite. I really don't know what's up and I went to a doctor, my oxygen level was fine, I don't have allergies or asthma they said my heart was fine so I don't really know what's up has anyone experienced anything like this or any advice please?
On January 18th, I experienced a tight chest during a family dinner that caused me to leave early. I took 1.5MG of Ativan after about 1.5 hours of this tight chest and shortness of breath. This seemed to be classic symptoms of a panic attach, which I have never experienced in my life. There was no obvious triggers as the family dinner was pleasant.

My o2 stats have been in the normal range (usually 97-98%), but I feel I am not breathing normally.
aweeonetolove - I had that same shortness of breath while teaching today, too! I was also REALLY hot in my class today, too- I posted about my symptoms in the symptoms thread just a minute ago, but I did get that shortness of breath today and it was really frusturating - hopefully that symptom won't last long.

for the last couple of years i have expieranced (I guess) heart palpatations and shortness of breath. I went to the doctor and they did an EKG which came back normal. They told me to cut back on cafine (which I did not do). The same thing kept happening every now and then. I would sometimes get light headed and confused on my surrondings. Than as fast as these symptoms came they would be gone. Now, a couple years later and 15 weeks pregnant they are still happening. Now I am more worried.
