Common Questions and Answers about Hiv positive symptoms

hiv

Avatar n tn That someone with HIV has the same symptoms as you is totally irrelevant. Virtually all symptoms of HIV occur some, most, or all of the time in at least 100 different medical conditions if not thousands -- the large majority of which are a lot more common than HIV/AIDS. I suggest you totally stop searching the web for HIV/AIDS symptoms. You will only alarm yourself further. "Statistics won't help me when it comes to reality.
Avatar n tn No these arent symptoms fo HIV infection at all and test at three month is reliable but one monhyt -ve test is good indication of HIV -ve after three months as well.

Avatar m tn -dry skin on my face and hands -something that looks like dundruff in my eyebrows -scalp problems with small areas that bleeds when scrapped -patches of dry skin on arms around 1-2 cm that gets redish after bath and are surrounded by areas of what is called "chicken skin" I've read that these symptoms are hiv related and I've read what hiv pos people wrote about their dry skin problems. From your knowing, does these symptoms come as soon as 2-3 months after infection?
Avatar n tn is it true if someone has hiv symptoms they will have antibodys and test positive at that point?
Avatar n tn In any case, an illness with bruising and fever is not particularly suspicious of a new HIV infection. And even it is due to HIV, it would mean she caught the virus 1-2 weeks before onset of her symptoms -- i.e. a long time after your exposure to her. So you can definitely expect your repeat test to also be negative. Let me know when you have the result, and stay mellow while you wait for it.
Avatar n tn As I said during your last exchange with me, your exposure was no risk for HIV. The symptoms you describe are not suggestive of HIV. It appears that you are looking on the internet and trying to match your symptoms, which are most likely all due to anxiety, to symptoms of HIV infection. This is an error since there are no symptoms which are highly specific for HIV and as a result you can find reports of just about anything being associated with HIV.
Avatar m tn this index value is changing and i think i am hiv positive due to my symptoms. my results are conclusive or not please help me i dont know what to do i need test again after 24 weeks for conclusive because of my symptoms.anybody know about this index value icant understand this.
Avatar m tn If you feel you must, you can test at this time and when you get the negative test that I am sure you will, you can be sure your symptoms are not due to HIV since if they were your test would be positive at this time (positive tests virtually always accompany symptoms if the symptoms are due to HIV. I hope this perspective is useful to you. Please do not worry.
Avatar f tn Not sure what you're asking. Once a person is HIV+, they will always be positive. A positive person who has unprotected intercourse with ANYONE, pregnant or not...can infect that person. Having unprotected sex with a positive person is always a risk, but will not DEFINITELY result in that person getting infected. Does that help?
Avatar n tn Symptoms not related to HIV. You did not have a risk with the use of a condom. See a Dr for your symptoms.
Avatar m tn Even mouth ulcers and night sweats are reported as anxiety symptoms. I again repeat HIV cant be judged by symptoms. Because there is more than 30 other viral iinfections that can be transmited quicker from sex. Go and take a hiv test and come back. I am confident you are negative. That is the only way to feel stress free.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had unprotected sex with a guy on June 4, 2008. He did not ejaculate inside me. A week after I started yawning a lot and feeling sleepy all the time. I also noticed that I had softer than usual stool. Three weeks later I started feeling a tingling sensation in my vagina (exactly where his penis touches me when we have sex). Within a week after that, the tingling changed to a burning sensation that continued for approx. 2 days then returned to a mild tingling sensatiion.
Avatar n tn what if the person having hiv like symptoms. At the time if person having hiv like symptoms, will the antibody test be +ev if person has real hiv infections ? Or symptoms cannot come without tests getting positive ? what's the dependency between tests positive and symptoms started ? Jeff.

Avatar m tn On the other hand, ELISA has a low specificity, so it has a high false-positive rate. If you test positive, with ELISA, they will test you again with a Western Blot to ensure that you have the disease and that you didn't test false-positive.
Avatar m tn If your current symptoms were due to HIV, an HIV test would be positive at this time. You have now had two HIV tests which are negative, proving that your symptoms were not HIV. there is really no reason for further concern or for further testing. You were lucky however and my strong advice is to use condoms regularly in the future for all such exposures. Take care.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the Forum. Sometimes when we start to worry about something it is hard to shake. I hope that my comments will be helpful to you in moving forward as you enter the New year. The symptoms you describe are all quite non-specific and are most unlikely to be related to HIV.
Avatar m tn If a person is exposured to HIV person and after 4 weeks if he got HIV symptoms and if he decided to take HIV test then the result should be POSITIVE right. Because once the real HIV symptoms start showing the he should be tested as positive right. If the results came back as Negative then what about those symptoms.
Avatar f tn Talk to your Dr, rash and symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. Proven by tests.
