I woke up one morning and was overcome with a severe pain in my hips. The pain is so debilitating. Before this, I was a very active, healthy person. Now, its hard to even get out of bed. i'm 36 years old. I was tested for lymes and the test came back negative. I continued to take the treatment for lymes (doxycycline) because sometimes even though you have lymes the test will come back neg. The doxycycline has not seemed to help at all.

No STD causes chronic joint pain as the primary symptom. Your joint pain is not due to any infection caught during any sexual exposure.

2) No, not due to any STD. Certainly I have seen many people with symptoms like you describe that were attributed to anxiety, depression, or other psychological issues. That's the likely realm of your problems, I believe.

However, towards the end of the week I started having some urethral irritation again and fairly bad joint pain. I was having some stomach irritation and loose stool, and after consuming some lactose and fructose heavy food at a conference, my bloating returned and my IBS was worse than it was prior to the antibiotics. I then took a course of Cipro, 100 mg twice daily for a week. I also took Xifaxan simultaneously for the IBS 500 mg 3 times daily for 10 days.
I also got joint pain in my hips . The first month I was on doxycycline it became worse and I was struggling to walk up and down stairs. It eventually got better and has never been that bad again, although I still have pain/stiffness occasionally.

My CBC was normal, tests for RA and lupus was normal, EBV was negative. She did a western blot as the only test for Lyme and my IgG p41 and IgM p23 were the only positive bands. What do you all think?
Thank you for responding. I was having some joint pain on and off before the doxy and over this past summer, I had episodes of skin itching, so you made a good point about a herx being a worsening of existing symptoms. It's difficult to determine the difference though between this particular reaction and an allergic reaction. Honestly, my doctor didn't seem 100% sure either, but I have stopped for now.

As I said my GP carried out blood tests my level of vitemin b12 was ok and my thyroid test was ok ,all it said on the blood test form was "thyroid test" do they carry out all tests you need for underactive thyroid?
Flu symptoms, swollen glands, severe fatigue, severe bone and joint pain, muscle spasms along with some organ inflammation.

3 months back i had right knee joint pain, that was mild but it is going on since then and even mildly increased. last month i had right eye redness,i was diagnosed to have reiters syndrome and was started on doxycycline 100 mg bd. red eye subsided again to be full blown red eyes on both sides last week. both eyes were swollen, painful with yellowish discharge. with some eyedrops it is reduced in severity now, but still right eye is swollen with blurring of vision sometime.
With joint pain. My doctor tested me for Lyme disease and it was positive. I took doxycycline For 12 Days till I developed a mild rash on my face. My doctor took me off and put me on amoxicillin for 2 more weeks.
My question is if I have contacted syphilis from this exposure would all these antibiotics cure it? And would an 95 day hiv negative oral swab be considered conclusive? Please help put my fears behind me.

for about two weeks now i have been experiencing testicular , abdominal and joint pain . no fever , sore throat or fatigue . my bowels make more sounds than ever and this has been going on for about a week now . i went to a clinic recently and was diagnosed with epiditymitis was prescribed doxycycline hyclate 100 mg capsules . the doctor did not ask or say anything about the patches . but this is very worrying . my anxiety and stress is through the roof .
