sounds like an allergic reaction to the penicillin. I too have an allergy to that, and that's similar to the symptoms I used to have while taking it. do you ever feel sick after it?
If I been on doxycycline for 15 days and taking my antibiotics like I suppose to what are the chances that I could have spreaded syphillis while giving oral sex if I didn't finish? My activity included licking and briefly sucking it for like a 2-3 mins and then stopping..
I was diagnosed with syphilis with a tither of 1:2 and reactive. Due to my allergy to penicillin, the doctor prescribed a 2 week treatment of doxycycline. I have completed the treatment. How long should I wait to be retested to make sure the treatment was effective? What would the expected results be?
Yes I've been with the same partner and we both got the same treatment. I do have a penicillin allergy. And we had the toga testing done in the beginning to confirm.

In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin. So, if you are allergic to the penicillin group your doctor could have prescribed Bactrim for you. Regards.
According to U.S.D.A. apparently yes, there are traces of antibiotics in the flesh and eggs from poultry. Their studies show no observable effect ( no acute effect for allergies and no chronic effects for cancer and other diseases)

So I recently finished being treated for Syphilis with 28 days on Doxycycline. By the time I got tested for a penicillin allergy the 28 days was over and my doctor said wait 6 months and get checked. My concern is I could have possibly had this for a maximum of 2.5 years. I foolishly had only gotten HIV tests assuming Syphilis would show immediate and obvious symptoms. My question is what kind of "damage" could this have caused to my body.
January 25th I was diagnosed and treated for syphilis. I was under the impression that I was allergic to penicillin so I was treated with doxycycline for 28 because of my high titer 1:256 During that time I drank atleast 3 times a week because of depressed I was with this. I also threw up a few times. April 6th I went to my gyn told them my situation and was retested. Of course it came back positive my dr gave me more doxycycline for 2 weeks.
You probably should be talking to your sons doctor or pharmacist and ask if it is ok that he takes the prevacid when he has an allergy to penicillin. A lot can also depend on the type of reaction he gets from the penicillin as well. So my advice would be just to call up your pharmacist or doctor and ask. It never hurts to be safe rather then sorry. Hope that helps!
However penicillin allergy itself is very dangerous. Even if it causes mild reaction at the first dose, subsequent doses’ cumulative anaphylaxis is itself life threatening. Today there are many alternatives to penicillin.

Since April/May of this current year, I've been very ill. The first weird thing that happened to me was a dizzy spell while home with my nephew in April I looked at the clock on the oven and it went blurry and I got very dizzy. Then I felt fine until late May. Late May I started getting burning sensations all over my body. I mean all over, my head, back , limbs, even breasts. They only last a few seconds then stop.
Apama for your timely and helpful suggestions. I did stop taking Doxycycline and will call my GP this afternoon for an alternative. In the mean time, I have continued with Benedryl at 25 mg every 4 hours and will now stretch this out to 6-8 hours through tomorrow; the rash has almost completely cleared up.

You don't say anything about your partner or where you are, which would help assess the chance you were exposed to syphilis. However, even if he or she had known infectious syphilis, you can still be confident you don't have it. Even if you were exposed and syphilis had started to take hold, the infection it would have been prevented or aborted by doxycycline (Vibramycin).
I had a syphilis diagnosis Feb 14...wasn't really sure what stage it was in, but the titer came back at 1:16. Before I actually knew I had syphilis I thought it was a sore throat, so I took a Z-pak and when I was retested a week later the result was 1:1 nonreactive. The nurse was saying that was odd. I had two rounds of Pen G injections for two weeks. Abstained from sex...same partner, he was tested and came back negative of all stds.
This same person has been a few times over the years for allergy skin tests and they tell her that she is only mildly allergic to this or that. The allergist told her that she is in the 20% that do not respond to allergy skin tests meaning that he does not know what she is allergic too but she is and thus she cannot get allergy shots because he does not know what she is allergic too? What is the answer? Have you ever heard of this happening to others?
Skin testing is the best method for diagnosing a penicillin allergy. If found to be allergic, the main treatment is avoidance of future use of amoxicillin and related antibiotics. Other groups of antibiotics with the same efficacy, may be used to treat the infection. Amoxicillin's efficacy is not affected even if you have allergies to this drug. It is discontinued due to the allergic symptoms manifested by the patient.
According to most websites tetracycline is part of the penicillin family and is also used gonorrhoea, syphilis and chlamydia. I just wanted to check this is true?
He has started treatment with doxycycline and azithromycin. A day after starting treatment a few red spots appeared under the skin on his hands (both hands, 3/4 sports clustered together). The skin is not broken, the spots are under the skin. They have also started to fade away after a day. We asume these are a syphilis rash.
Since the skin is not broken, are these red spots contagious? Can I get syphilis from shaking his hand? What about from hugging him?
