doxycycline and tanning

Would it be a good idea to go tanning at a tanning salon? And regardless what tanning lotion is best to use while pregnant?

Went to the doctor. He gave me a shot for gonohrea and doxycycline. I asked him why he wasn't going to test first and he gave me some answer along the lines of that testing would be inconclusive or somesuch. So here I am taking doxicycline, and I have a question: on the precautions it says that doxy will make "increase sensitivity to the sun, so avoid sun and tanning booths UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW YOU REACT TO THIS MEDICINE. I use tanning booths. What does this mean?

I am a 23 year old, and was diagnosed over a month ago with persistent (gestational) trophoblastic disease, but have not yet received chemotherapy treatment. I've used tanning beds on and off since my teenage years (never more than once a week as of the past couple years). My question is- will it affect my type of cancer if I were to go tanning in a salon? I understand I should avoid any type of UV rays once I start chemo... but as of right now, is it okay to do so?

d put my money toward a massage instead of tanning. Not as dangerous, and so much better at soothing aches and pains and spastic muscles. Just my $0.

We have had a very big campaign in Australia to try to ban indoor tanning. A girl died from a melanoma caused by indoor tanning. Many of the salons have closed do to not knowing the ramifications of it. If you go to a salon make sure they know the rules and regulations on how long etc you should be doing it. Quite honestly it is a dangerous thing as the UV rays are up to 100% stronger than the outdoor sun. So do take care!!! This is regardless of any thyroid or other problem!

I hate tanning beds because I hate laying in there for 20 minutes...and driving there and all that....yuck. Plus this will make you look younger longer. I honestly don't think it would mess with your temp. I guess it could but I would think your internal temp would be the same. Now if you had sun poisening and you were running a fever it is adifferent story. But I don't think that is the case here! Good luck! Let me know how you are doing!

Now I am left with the whole bottom of my face blotchy and discolored, my neck the same and white spots on my stomach and back around my shoulder blades. I read that apple cidder vinegar and/or tanning would help. I am so lost and confused. I was diagnosed with 2 differ things by 2 differ drs here and not sure where to go to next since this is a new environment for me I am scared to go to anymore drs in this area.

The next day or the day after, I went to the gym and after my workout used the stand up tanning bed. I noticed in the bed these spots under the UV lighting, what looked like a red rash and thought it had something to do with the heat from laser + tanning. When I first started tanning, I started to notice a darker coloration in pigment below my eyes, on my check, lips, and nose, and I thought that I was getting freckles from tanning, but I asked the owner of the salon and he assured me to use Selsun Blue, because he said the darker smaller spots are a fungus that come about from the ulttraviolet rays from the tanning salon or extreme exposure to sun.

Get some aloe vera gel for the burn/blisters (pure aloe is best.) Also Tylenol or ibuprofen will help the pain a bit. Drink plenty of fluids. Orange juice is a good choice. I had a very bad burn once that caused me to be in the ER. They gave me IV fluids and told me about the ibuprofen and fluids. They specifically mentioned orange juice ... maybe for the potassium. Also, I'm sure you're already aware, but tanning isn't a good thing to do.

So yes tanning and breast feeding is fine. Plus the tanning will make you feel revitalized.

My doctor specifically said not to tan because it raises your internal body temperature but ive heard some ladies are told its fine. Sunless tanning lotion is fine and spray tanning is fine but they usually recommend like a nose plug for spray tanning since you're breathing in the tan!

If your tanning at the beach and not in an actual tanning bed I would say its safe. But I would put sunscreen on so you dont burn.

I laid out in the sun with my first daughter. With tingle tanning lotion and everything. And let me say i was pregnant through the whole summer. As long as you dont stay out in the sun like for long period of time causing your baby to get really hot inside. I think youll be fine.

Hello, I got married 5 years ago. The day before my wedding, I went tanning and the gals behind the desk recommended I get into a huge new tanning bed. It was a tad bit hot and I came out of it with red raised bumps on my legs. I then went on my honey moon to Mexico where it was extremely hot and was given a pharmaceutical cream for the bumps and they disappeared. Now that it is 5 years later, I've been on many vacations since and didn't have any sort of reaction for about 3 years.

Is it ok to use a sunless tanning bed while pregnant? My first appointment with my obgyn isn't until Monday and I usually go tanning on Saturday afternoons but I'm not sure if that's ok to do anymore.
