I've had intermittent chest pains and was recently diagnosed with lyme disease. In fact, cardiac problems such as high blood pressure, random twinges of pain around my heart, etc. were some of my more prominent symptoms, although they are rare for most people. I also just recently started on Doxy and noticed that my heart symptoms are more intense than they've been in a while.
Stopped taken the doxycycline and started to have chest pain went to a+e ecg performed, results normal i was sent home saying it was muscular pain. The pain has'nt fully subsided and currently being treated for acid reflux
Have any body else had this problem with this drug?
the moment i started eating, drinking and even blurping, i had this really intense pain in my throat or rather esophagus between my chest area.
my qn is,
1) is this the cause of the doxycycline or ngu or some std problem.
2) if it's the doxycycline, do i continue medication as indicated because my doc wanted me to complete my medication before my next appt which is soon to check to the ngu symptoms are still there or not and confirm recovery.
I did stop her taking the Doxycycline last night but today she still has some chest tightness and her eyes are still quite swollen and puffy. She has only missed one dose so far, so I am waiting. She did also have flu-like symptoms as well. I am consulting her dermatologist today to get a new antibiotic but I am not sure which way to go. It appears that she is allergic to quite a few antibiotics.

Hi all, recently I am having some rash on my chest and body. Before this, one month ago I have two encounter anal sex with someone at a dufferet time and both I was wearing a condom. The first one I ejaculate out of the body. The second one I ejaculate inside with a condom. I was afraid it may leak out from the outer barrier. And I have recieve unprotected oral sex too. I am now taking doxycycline which was for my acne and I want to know if it will cure syphilis if touch wood I got it.
A CYSTOSCOPY WAS ORDERED ON 9/26/13. THIS SHOWED A NARROW URETHRA AND INFECTION. PLACED ON DOXYCYCLINE TWICE A DAY FOR 30 DAYS. THIS WAS FOLLOWED ON 10/22/13 WITH URINALYSIS AND FOLLOW-UP ON 10/29/13. URINALSIS SHOWED CLEAR BUT KEPT ON DOXYCYCLINE ONCE A DAY FOR ITU PREVENTION.
Does it sound bad or could be anything bad? I guess I shld hve said also that I’m taking doxycycline but I haven’t seen anyone or heard anything bout chest pains when taking the meds. I’m curious bc it just came about out of no where.
I'm still suffering from a viral infection which gave me typical cold symptoms with pain in my right shoulder and neck , a swollen sore throat and a productive chesty cough. After two weeks I was prescribed, over the phone, Doxycycline antibiotics which haven't helped. It's been three weeks now and I'm still coughing up mucus and have been told I have infection in the base of my lungs. I couldn't say if the mucus was clear or had blood in it as I'd been swallowing it.
I just ran a a google search for 'doxycycline cardiac effects,' and virtually nothing turned up. Apparently this drug is almost never involved in that. However, it IS often associated with esophagitis (inflammation of the swallowing tube), which patients feel as chest pain, especially right behind the breastbone, as described here:

You should call your doc and report this.
I am on doxy and have been taking it for about 6 months now. I have always wondered about if I should get any blood work to see if my body is handling everything okay like a LFT or liver panel. And if it is bad to take it for prolonged periods of time. Though it works great for my acne, i don't want to harm the rest of my body. Do you know anything about this?
Oh and i have looked up plenty of things about doxy and there is a long list of side effects for this antibiotic.
1) These red lesions appear on my upper chest and upper back, generally around the shoulder area. They usually do not have a head. They do not hurt. The areas where they appear itches sometimes, especially in hot weather, but not always. The lesions generally resolve after a week or so, but are usually replaced with new ones. The lesions do not always correspond to hair location, although as you can see, I have a hairy chest.
2) The lesions first developed last May.
just pain in lower abdominal area. I took doxycycline and started peeing better but the pain is now permenent. any suggestions? tests? prostate maybe? who should i go see?
m a male, and yes, I was prescribed Doxycycline for two monthes by the Dermatologist, and during the time I used to take it, I started having chest pain and shortness in breathing, these side effects seemed related to GERD, as the chest pain went off after taking Antacids, however I still suffer from occasional shortness in breathing, and I sometimes fear it's caused of HIV (one of the possible Acute HIV infections infecting the respiratory system) rather than GERD.
I have had mycoplasma pneumonia for almost 3 months now- complete with a rash that comes and goes, insane chest pain, body aches.. They finally diagnosed me two weeks ago and I took a Z pack and felt decent finally but only for a few days, Im getting worse once again and I'm SO over this. What ended up working for you??
Update on condition - yesterday dr heard rumble in lower left lung, I was devastated to hear that as I am such a worrier. She took blood and sputum sample and as I had doxycycline previously for original pneumonia she has given me a 3 day course of Zithromax to try and clear this infection by 'nipping it in the bud'. I am still getting chest pain which is central and have a wheeze in centre of chest which she says is inflammation of airways.
The tablets my GP gave me I have stopped as I only took them for one day and came out with a terrible sore throat and chest pains. He also prescribed Betnovate Ointment and since I started using this the rash and itching as subsided. I was wondering if indeed it is linked to HIV or could it be something as simple as a regime I recently started (but stopped) which was using a loofah to exfoliate my chest and back very vigourously. Cannot think staright now becasue all I can think of is the HIV.
I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.
after that I stopped asking for any antibiotic s further. for next 4 months it was low grade urethritis and occasional testicular pain. 3 months back i had right knee joint pain, that was mild but it is going on since then and even mildly increased. last month i had right eye redness,i was diagnosed to have reiters syndrome and was started on doxycycline 100 mg bd. red eye subsided again to be full blown red eyes on both sides last week. both eyes were swollen, painful with yellowish discharge.
Hello. I am a 25 year old male and have had varying types of chest pain daily for the last couple years. I have every type of test you can imagine, plus more. My EKGs was ok, but I am declared physically disabled because of abnormalities with a VO2 exercise test (caused by a condition called CFS).
I do have a history of SVTs and I am tachycardic (pulse around 100 or greater) the majority of the time.
Thanks for your care and concern. Looking into my medical record I had this symptoms last year and I was also in doxycycline for twelve days. My little problem has been diagnosed as Esophagitis which has been documented as one of the side effects of doxi. Every symptom was pinpointed completely as described in a journal article. Your advice is noted for future discussion with my MD.
started developing folliculitis with itching (Chest, Upper Arms, Upper Back, belly, face). doctor prescribe for me Doxycycline 100 for Morning and Evening 2 weeks and then Keflex for 2 weeks, no improvement I am in week 12 now.
I have been having left testicle pain for about 2 months now, I had protected sex but shortly after my testicles started to hurt, i went to doctor gave me zithro pain went away for 3 weeks, pain came back got urine test everything came negative, doctor gave me doxycycline but I took it for 3 days pain went away and stopped taking due to relief and wanted to keep some if pain restarted. Pain came back after 2 weeks doctor gave another prescription of doxycycline.
