Zantac for lpr

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac for lpr

zantac

Avatar f tn In November Doc put me on 40 mg Prilosec one daily and it causes me to feel terrible, anxious etc. we changed to 20mg 2x daily and Zantac 150 1x daily and the cough resolves within a week but I had globus, phlegm, sore throat...typical LPR symptoms. GI doc did an upper endoscopy in January that looked pretty normal with the exception of candida on the 6 areas she biopsies.
Avatar f tn On June 11, 2010, I had Barium Swallow test for stomach pains. Results were fine.June 21, 2010, I had an Endoscopy also for stomach pains.Test showed Gastritis and Diverticulosis-all fairly common.A short time later,I noticed that my swallowing felt slower. I then went on to develop a wretched sore throat that went on for 2-3 months.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your response. I have not been experiencing any more symptoms since I changed the time of my last meal of the day. I believe it was my diet. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have LPR. Sounds like you all have LPR. Basically reflux. Its misery. And the worst part is that theres not much you can do about it. Nexium 2x a day is about all. Ive been to about five drs so far. same thing...antibiotics...steriods. no help. look up lpr on the internet and begin the research it. youll be suprised how many have this condition.
Avatar f tn Here is a web site for your condition, www.uthscsa.edu/oto/lpr.asp. I had this same problem for many years and fixed it by changing my diet. I eat a low glycemic high fiber diet, 5 small meals a day, low fat and good fat only, drink lots of water. I have little to no alcohol, spicy foods, greasy fatty foods, acidic foods and caffeine. Also you may want to take digestive enzymes with every meal. I found that this helps greatly. I do not know if you should sing or not.
Avatar m tn After all tests came back negative, the sore throat and swollen submandibular lymph nodes have lasted for almost 1.5 years. After multiple doctors visits, I have been diagnosed with LPR. The ENT put me on Nexium ??mg twice per day. I have been taking the Nexium for about a month now. I have a couple of questions. Are swollen submandibular lymph nodes a common symptom of LPR? I have only seen in one place where someone says swollen lymph nodes are a symptom of LPR.
Avatar m tn A year ago I was diagnosed with LPR by an ENT after being viewed with a laryngoscope. Even since then I have been on 80mg of nexium daily along with 300mg of zantac for the apparent reflux. I have also made all the recommended dietary and lifestyle changes. I am otherwise very healthy and was always active in sports. For the past year I have been dealing with extreme tightness in the throat (almost like someone is choking me).
Avatar m tn If a patient reported symptoms you are describing I would consider the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). It is not uncommon for patients with GERD to also have LPR. An ENT physican or speech pathologist can perform rhinolaryngoscopy (similar to an endoscopy, but fiber optic camera evaluates nose, throat. Patients with LPT may have vocal cord edema (swelling) and other characteristic changes.
Avatar f tn One of my friends husbands was diagnosed with throat cancer (now in remission) and I am always worrying this throat irritation will turn into cancer. I am not sure how long I may have had LPR, but for years I was always clearing my throat. The burning sensation started about a month ago.
Avatar m tn Thank you for the comment. Checked your link to LPR, and it appears that I don't have any of those symptoms, which are more concentrated in the throat area. My primary symptoms are now excessive belching, chest congestion in the sternum area, and sometimes some warmth in the lower throat area. I am carefully monitoring the weight loss, which my be due to my change in diet. I am planning on continuing the Prilosec for two more weeks.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am hoping someone on here who suffers with LPR may be able to help me. I have been suffering with various throat related health problems for months and as I am an allergy sufferer, I went down that route and saw an ENT, he treated my allergy issues etc but I still have a feeling of mucus in the throat, a painful kinda burning feeling deep down in my throat which makes the side of my throat/neck ache and feel uncomfortable.
1094370 tn?1317134825 Hi, and sorry I am taking Zantac 150. But I got the generic one which is much less. My family practice doc diagnosed me. He has it and noticed I have a morning cough. I don't have any other symptoms except sometimes I feel saliva or stomach fluid coming up my throat once in a while. I didn't get it following antibiotics I just have it. I had to get an upper GI because I was taking Ibupropin and I got stomach pain and the doctor thought I had an ulcer.
1362170 tn?1283905754 By the way what are you taking for the reflux? and how did find out about the gluten intolerance? I have LPR which i dont know a whole lot about but i do know it's making life very difficult. They give you medication to help with the acid but i cant even eat solid foods and i gag on medication that is anything bigger than a zantac! i'm currently waiting for my insurance to cover the liquid form of nexium.
1534024 tn?1294246075 Thanks for your reply! Sorry it's been awhile since I rePlied. The Zantac worked for a little bit but all these months later and I'm still having problems. I have to take zyrtec and flonase to help control the pnd and my breathing problems are getting worse. I got an inhaler which helps a little but sometimes it doesn't work. When I try n take a deep breath I can feel the tightness in my throat it's almost like a choking sensation with the need to cough.
Avatar m tn As the above poster mentioned look into LPR or Silent reflux known for not always causing the typical heart burn but can be just as or more serious an issue. For me, I tend to over produce histamines....and using a H2 blocker instead of a PPI worked along with a antihistamine....this helped my PND and has helped cut back on my other symptoms as well as modifying my diet like the above poster suggests. Do see your Dr and ask about the cause of the PND....
6780206 tn?1386121349 Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience here. I also suffer from GERD. I was misdiagnosed with a hital hernia back in 2006 and a ENT prescribed me prevacid. When in fact my symptoms were from a allergic reaction to allergy drops a allergist put me on and I had to put them under my tongue. Needless to say, I was naive and believed as we usually do when we are young a Dr. therefore, I continued to take the prevacid, in which later was switched to protonix.

Avatar f tn Still haven't been able to get doctor to test for Free T3.....or even test for vitamin deficiencies yet. My symptoms have been nervousness, anxiety, hair loss, muscle twitches, some tingling every now and then, shakiness, dry skin, heart palps. Exhausted after work but can't seem to relax. Pain in legs. Dr. had thyroid checked becuz I nhad went into ER due to side effects from Nexium...... Made me feel even worse anxiety, etc.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help. The only other medication I am on is Advair for my asthma, and this has been for probably close to 15 years. In fact, after the pulmonary tests I was able to effectively lower my dosage from the 500 to the 100. So, at least that was a plus. I have tried cutting out all of the food triggers and coffee and it doesn't do anything. In fact, when I feel the chest pain it occurs all day long.
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
