99627 tn?1301274552 Both of my kids had acid reflux. Both were on Zantac. No side effects at all and both were on for long periods of time (over a year). My daughter finally outgrew it at 13 months- she was in the hospital for a week at 2 weeks old when they diagnosed her as they wanted to do a PH study. My little guy had severe acid reflux and was on Zantac for about 4 months- it wasn't working so they started him on Prilosec.

Avatar n tn hi.my son has severe reflux and he was put on zantac and it never helped.we also tried reglan and it was aweful for my son, the side effects where terrible.my son was put on prevacid and after a week he was a different baby.he still spits up but the prevacid controls the acid production.I don't think that every baby needs medication but in my sons case he did.I know that without prevacid my son would be miserable.I hope this helps.
198419 tn?1360245956 Only saying this because I started Rebif not long after dx, and some things I could not distinguish between, i.e, MS symptoms and initial side effects of meds. The worse part of my attack began to subside after 3 months, but major subsiding only after 5/6 months, which was right about when I started a disease modifier. Thought it was worth mentioning. New to MS, new to meds, sometimes equals the inability to decipher what is what - at least in my case.
178590 tn?1294180367 ok well Jacob was on gentlease and was just put on the AR Tuesday cause of the results from the upper GI well he also put them on zantac 3 x a day well I just called him and told him they are throwing up more and seem to be having more acid reflux problems you can tell that's what's happening they just scream in pain so I called my ped. to ask about putting them on prevacid instead cause it seems worse.....
171768 tn?1324233699 Cam had a rough first year- he's my challenge! The tough part was that he had colic, so many things get blamed on the colic. I see some of the tricks you have used on the Prevacid, all have worked for me too! Funny you do anything to get the meds down. I did the quick shake, tapping... Cam was losing his voice daily, which I thought was from screaming all night, but it was from the acid reflux.
Avatar n tn There aren't any KNOWN side effects b/c the drug was never tested on kids younger than 2. Most drs are hesitant to prescribe the drug b/c of that. I'd also suggest you check out www.marci-kids.com It's about all the meds you can give to your little one for reflux.
171768 tn?1324233699 No, can't say I saw any bad side effects. With Zantac, DD would scream b/c she hated the taste.
171768 tn?1324233699 meiram- the meds have done wonders with no visible side effects. she's on zantac. nursing was even worse before she went on the meds. the thrashing and pulling you describe sounds like reflux. dh is a pharmacist and comfortable with the rx. my ped said he once called poison control because a patient overdosed. they told him it was pretty much harmless. i am glad to hear nursing isn't all smiles and coos for everyone else either. i just video taped dd closely and watch it frame by frame.
164914 tn?1269577507 It kind of kills the acid, I think! How does Jayden do on the prevacid? Max is on Zantac and I don't feel like it's doing it's job at all! He got put on it at 12 pounds and now he's up to 18 and for some stupid reason the NP at the ped's office told me not to worry about increasing the dosge. I think he needs more though....
Avatar f tn No one should be adding cereal to a bottle on their own. Having a doctor suggest it doesn't take away the possible side effects of doing so. There are medications that can help that will likely not carry the same risks associated with adding cereal to the bottle. I would not do it unless you have a pediatric GI run the necessary testing to diagnose GERD. All of this talk about every one claiming their baby has GERD and few actually have gone beyond their regular pedi.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi and Welcome Tramadol Warriors, Please come on in and make yourself comfy. All are welcome.
290867 tn?1333572878 Todat we tried giving him a quarter tablet of lactaid before his dose to see if it would aid of the gas but no luck. He is also on Zantac. We tried doing the Zantac alone without the Prevacide and then he was screamig for hours arching his back with GERD pain. It is a double edged sword. Do we want reflux pain or gas?
Avatar n tn Ask to talk to one of the nurses or even the doctor himself. Emphasize you're currently on treatment and having trouble with side effects so waiting another month may be too late. Good luck!
1222635 tn?1366399886 i phoned his cell after doing some research and determining i thought it was reflux and i explained my thoughts to him..he said that some babies need to be put on zantac for acid in their tummies and he told me to call the nurse to make an appointment with him tomorrow. he is going to look into it for me; i cannot wait for that appointment because today has been a very rough day for us both.
Avatar n tn When I was heavier than I am now and had challenges with heartburn, I had to switch from Tagament to Zantac 75 to avoid these side effects. The only other option that the Podiatrist eluded to was sugery. In your valued opinion, what are my options from here?
Avatar n tn try giving him pear juice, and maybe some more pears in his diet. Pears will help to soften his stool - and hopfully be a little more comfortable.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi Tramadol Warriors and all New Friends, Please make yourself at home. Part 28 ... wow. Hang on tight!
393685 tn?1425816122 it has been noted that 40% of operations are carried out unnecessary. Also my girlfriend had one side operated on and then had to have the other side done. The reason she was told was that if it is only one side with a problem the other side will still operate and was a trial and see situation. I have had acid reflux for 10 years and I have found that I cannot eat bread so I haven't eaten bread for 2 years and I very seldom have a problem with reflux now because I follow a few simple rules.
544341 tn?1234992477 Cally, my four month old was two months premature due to double placental abruption caused by complete placenta previa. She was diagnosed with sleep apnea in the NICU. After a month long NICU stay we took her home, then took her back three days later when she stopped breathing while I was feeding her. After a week long stay and numerous tests, she was diagnosed with severe GERD and put on Axid, and her feedings were thickened.
Avatar f tn It cost me $40 or so for a 1 month supply which I was not thrilled about but by the time she was 1 yr old she didn't need it anymore. Supposely AXID has no side effects. Hope this helps. It was worth it for a shortg term expense...
Avatar n tn i told her peds about it and she was concerned that maybe it was side effects from the zantac she was put on because of her reflux. there have been no reported side effects so the next thing she was thinking was muscle spasms. when i saw all the related stories of the same thing my daughter is doing..i was none the less shocked. what causes things like this? i still havent had any answers from her doctor.

Avatar f tn I'm praying this stops soon because I break out every 2 weeks since then. Dr. won't put me on prednisone due to side effects. I'm taking Zantac 150mg. twice daily along with 4mg Cyproheptadine every 4 hours which totally knocks me out. Have tried every OTC lotion for itching. Nights are worse. I put ice on it which helps for awhile. Even tried home remedies such as baking soda paste, rubbing alcohol, organic vinegar and all of those were useless.
82861 tn?1333457511 We discovered that reglan injections resulted in no side-effects and did a good job on Chica's nausea. I'm just grateful my husband had experience giving himself allergy injections and had no problem injecting Chica. The vet drew up about a dozen syringes for us and we'd give her a shot twice a day. Just to give you an idea of what to expect, the textbook cases death from kidney failure say that the dog will finally lose all sense of who she is, where she is and what is happening.
1194973 tn?1385507504 During that time I also had recurring acid reflux and treated it with Zantac and once tried Prevacid but due to undesired side effects stopped taking it. Within a month or so the acid reflux went away, but the nausea and abdominal pain increased.
1542088 tn?1314652780 Being this early in the pregnancy, it is not unsafe to lay on your back, but Scottishmummy is right, your left side is the best side to lay on for those exact reasons. They recommend beginning to lay on your side by the 20th week of pregnancy, but since I am a back sleeper, I have been working on it. It's hard to sleep on your side when you are not used to it!!
659957 tn?1224857787 Ultimately, it's your choice to make, but I feel I made the right decision by staying on the Suboxone and it had no ill effects on my children at all. Just make sure you are upfront and honest with all of your doctors, and make sure the hospital knows upon delivery as well (in case of a C-section- pain control would be an issue). Best wishes to you and GOOD LUCK!
Avatar n tn Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects. This includes antacids containing aluminum or magnesium or products that contain simethicone. Patients with hiv infection taking stavudine or zidovudine should talk with their doctor or pharmacist before using ribavirin. The effectiveness of these medicines against hiv may be reduced when given with ribavirin. Ribavirin + Antacids.
Avatar m tn an antagonist, to speed up gastric emptying, causing strong contractions throughout the esophagus, stomach and intestines, these really do work, but as with all western medicines, it has side effects, the powerful contractions can cause pains long term, in the esophagus and intestines, as my symptoms described above, the food is getting pushed through the system faster before acid has had a chance to break it down properly, the malnutrition problem gets worse when linked to acid blockers you en
