When is the ovulation period in women

Common Questions and Answers about When is the ovulation period in women

period

Avatar f tn I guess its possible to ovulate at any time but I would start using the ovulation test strips the day after your period ends and then you should be able to determine when you get your LH surge. That's how I do it and the period and ovulation apps help track it too.
Avatar m tn Most women ovulate half way through their cycle which is on average day 14 and the egg is there waiting to be fertilized for 24 to 48 hours. some women track ovulation by taking their first morning temp. They keep a thermometer by their bed and upon waking in the morning, they take their temp and record it on a chart. Your temp is higher before ovulation. Once ovulation is past, your temp drops.
Avatar f tn To understand why this is the case, there are things that you will need to understand about having a period, about when you ovulate, and about your monthly cycle in general. It is significant to consider the timing of ovulation. Ovulation occurs approximately 14 days prior to the start of the next period. This means, for example, if a woman has a regular 28-day cycle, that she will ovulate on or around day 14 of her cycle.
Avatar n tn That's the time from when you ovulate to when you start your period. You don't always ovulate smack dab in the middle of your cycle. Some women with a 28 day cycle ovulate on CD14 (giving you a luteal phase of 14 days) while others can ovulate CD12 (giving you a luteal phase of days). It all depends on your cycle. So you may have a luteal phase of 10 days or longer. EWCM is a sign that you will ovulate (usually 12-24 hours before you ovulate).
Avatar f tn It lasts until the day before your next period (which you know exactly when that is WHEN you get your period). Most women ovulate mid way through and on day 14 on average. good luck PS: they also sell ovulation kits to help you find that small window that you are ovulating.
534975 tn?1224156062 Not everyone ovulates 14 days after the first day of their period. In fact, it's the opposite. You will ovulate about 14 days BEFORE the next period. Hope that helps.
1380252 tn?1279896399 Some women have shorter or longer luteal phases (the time between ovulation and the next period), which can cause problems with conceiving. You can tell when you're going to ovulate by an increase in cervical discharge, that looks like an egg white, stretchy and clear. There are ovulation predictor kits that are sold in stores, they tell you on the instructions, but generally you will ovulate 24-48 hours after getting a positive on the ovulation predictor.
Avatar n tn You didn't mention how you are tracking your ovulation. Are you using a basal thermometer? Are you inserting your fingers into your vagina to check for the "egg white" and the position of your cervix? Have you tried the ovulation tests that you can buy at most stores now? Try checking around the 10th day to the 17th day after your period starts. This is when "most" women ovulate...so they say.
Avatar n tn It can be pretty complex to figure out, but there are also signs in the body that some women say they get when they ovulate, although some women never feel any signs. (I never do).
Avatar f tn Hello, The average time when ovulation occurs is roughly 14 days after the first day of the start of a period; however, the exact timing varies from woman to woman. Few women may have a slight pain in their lower abdomen or slight bleeding during the middle of their cycle during ovulation.Vaginal discharge becomes more watery and increases in quantity during ovulation. Other tests to determine ovulation are ovulation predictor kits and ovulation calendars.
Avatar f tn do u ovulate before or after your period?
Avatar f tn couple of days before ovulation, the ovulation day and the day after ovulation are the most probable days for conceiving. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Some women say they can feel ovulation. I cannot. However, your cramping 1 week before your period is probably not ovulation. If it is, then you have a luteal phase defect. This would mean that there is not enough time between ovulation/conception and your period to allow for the embryo to successfully implant and start producing hcg to stop your period.
Avatar n tn this is because ovulation (the release of the egg) is what prompts your period. most women have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14 and that is why most people say day 14 cause its right in the middle there for them. but! seems to me that after 4 years you probably don't have a regular cycle. so i would suggest using a basal temperature chart to find out. i used fertility friend.com and the tracker on here, plus a home made chart of my own.
Avatar f tn There's an app for that. I'm serious. It's awesome. I can tell when I'm ovulation and when my period is supposed to be coming. Also a lot of women find that they have more discharge while ovulating. Also might be a different color, consistency, or smell.
1699550 tn?1320290217 i was just wondering becuase i got the mirena out on april 1st and i havent had a period but when it was in my period would not stop.
Avatar f tn I never had a 22-23 day cycle always 28-31. A normal cycle is considered like 28 days. Try using a ovulation predictor calendar then when ever it says you should be ovualating i would use ovulation kit and test each day in the 11 day time frame until you get a postive.
Avatar n tn I was taking law school finals the first week of December, right after my period, and that week is the determinative week for your next final. The stress from that week actually pushed me 21 days back in my cycle, which makes me completely adjust to the new timeline. If you still haven't started in the next week or two, I would recommend a doctor visit to check your hormone levels and make sure everything is in line.
971939 tn?1247820584 It dont matter when you start your period,to work out ovulation calculate how long your periods are.ie 28 days,32,etc. then count back 14 days from the day you start.this will tell you when you ovulated.remeber if your cycle is every 28 days, pretty much so ovulation will occur cd14. so as a guide its 14 days before your next period is due.give or take a day or 2.every women has a 25% chance every month of concieveing, provideing no complications.

Avatar f tn Depends on when you ovulate. Sperm can survive for about 5 days in the female body. Is your cycle always 30-31 days?
712964 tn?1287080218 i dont know if you can answer this but when exactly is an ovulation period and when you have will you definitely get pregnant plz help me
Avatar n tn The first day of your cycle is the first day of your period. A women is most likely to fall pregnant 11 - 18 days after the first day or her last period.
Avatar n tn like my last period was oct 17th 2007 and i looked up on the web and there is a site that i could put in 90 days between and it told i would have ovulated around the 1st of january.. Im a little excited but i dont want to get too excited... thank you for your time..
676912 tn?1332816151 I'm supposed to this time based on that calculation on May 5th, today is the 3rd. The opk I have still shows negative, is it possible that I am going to ovulate later? I had semi irregular periods before, ie the day one ended the next started on or around that day.
Avatar n tn after reading about it all of the time here on the forum, it kind of made me wonder when i do? i know when my period ended my husband and i had unprotected intercourse and that was 2 days after my period ended. i got pregnant.(this was 4 yrs ago). anyway, it seems (cuz iv'e been more aware the last few months) that my discharge is that clear, stringy sticky feel, just a couple days after my period ends. so... is this when i am ovulating?
Avatar f tn Also you can track your cervical mucus/fluid... When it is like egg whites is the time to have sex as it is when the sperm can travel up to meet with the egg. It is best to have sex every other day because sperm count has a chance to have a higher count. But you can always google how to track the cervical mucus/fluid and temp if you are unsure. Thats all I did. Husband and I started ttc (sort of) in July and I was pregnant in october.. Due July 25!! 50 more days til I meet my little Adalynn.
Avatar m tn your playing with getting her pregnant if your trying to figure out when she ovulated or if she was fertile when you two had unprotected sex.....the answer is ask her when her lmp is...if it was 14 days before you two had sex...your looking at being a dad. however its not always 14 days it varies slightly and sometimes a women can ovulate more than once and at different times or she could just ovulate late or early. either way. use condoms all the time.
Avatar f tn The most obvious outward sign of impending ovulation is increasing wet and slippery cervical fluid. In fact, it can be so abundant that women notice a string of cervical fluid literally hang down when they are using the toilet (Bon appetite, by the way). If a woman notices this, she should assume that ovulation is about to happen within a day or two. This is what is referred to as a primary fertility sign.
