I believe the difference was that on the WW program, they teach you more "how" to eat and learning good choices along with portion control. I didn't really have my daily menus planned out ~ I don't like using a menu. I really want to do it on my own. In the Jenny Craig program, my sister bought her food from them. It was already made ~ all she had to do was heat it up.

Avatar f tn 30 yrs, 6 '1", nearly 230 lbs and works 12 hours a day. Weight loss is extremely difficult for him as I cannot make him go on a diet or exercise which may zap his energy. I am afraid he is becoming obese. It is very difficult to make him walk everyday and he eats reasonably less for a man of his weight. In the morning he does with a bowl of cereals and the afternoon something veggie from his work place. He eats non-veg twice-thrice a week. What is a diet that can be effective?

Avatar n tn Hi guy! Deficiency of calories. A guy like you should be eating more food. You're eating whats recommended for women that are a little more than five feet tall. I would definately look at what you're eating to start with. have you tried eating more healthy proteins like egg whites with Whole wheat breads. I would look into that. I'm not a big meat eater so Atkins and that were not good but proper proteins are great for filling you up and giving you great energy.

First of all weight loss has a simple equation which however you try to lose it can not be circumvented. 3500 calories = 1lb Ballroom danicing burns between 250 and 480 calories an hour.... 6 hours a week is less than 1 hour a day - and a total max of 2880 calories burned more than before yous tarted dancing.
1317224 tn?1378708734 Thanks, Barb, for the encouragement. Yes, I am a nurse: 6 years in med-surg, 18 in ICU, 4 in emergency room and a few in geriatrics and teaching in an LPN school. Right now, though, I'm unemployed & considering leaving nursing (the industry has changed dramatically & it is difficult to provide even the minimal care that patients need unless you sacrifice your own health)---though it would be quite scary to be a middle-aged, single, mortgage-holding career changer in this economy!
Avatar n tn I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
Avatar n tn It should take about 2 months to get to that dosage but I'm getting kinda excited hearing about the benefit of weight loss especially since it was weight loss pills (metabolife and xenedrine) that caused me to find out that I was epileptic in the first place! The doctor told me that i might get tingling in my fingers and i might feel a little dopy but happy dopy he described it as, so I figure i can deal with that! If I start losing weight at a rapid pace i'll definitely post again!

I was already eating healthy, so I have continued that as well. I am just not sure if I am eating too many calories a day to lose the weight I want to lose which is 50 pounds. I was wondering if any of you are doing the Core Secrets program out there, what your results are, or if you have any tips on losing weight in general.
Avatar f tn Also keep a track of calorie intake and your work out. At the gym you can begin with light work such as using a treadmill or a cross-trainer. Gradually you may increase the work load. Best results can be obtained with rotating between various activities. You may seek professional help of a dietician or a trainer for the same. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar n tn hi all, since we are all trying to lose weight here and figuring out the best method possible - for example I am using redusyn and have been successful with it so far - i thought it would be very nice to know how other people are doing in their own weight loss programs. maybe this will also help us exchange information and adopt to other programs that we didn't know or thought were uncompromising! So, for me, I have been using Redusyn now for 12 days and have lost 9.5 pounds.

I don't know about everyone else, but this past year has been a challenge for me, both physically and emotionally. I'm quite sure that I've gained and lost the same 5 lbs, at least weekly for the past couple years. While calorie reduction is most important for losing weight you want to be able to tone the muscles with weight training. This includes using barbells(light weights) as well as doing core training(abwork). When doing cardio it is not until around 20 minutes at 60% of you maximum heart rate that you begin to hit the fat burning zone.

Avatar f tn To incorporate eercise that burns 500 cals/day plus cutting back on 500 cals/day (if there's room in your diet to scale back that much), that's 1,000/day and a 2 lb weight loss per week. But even at a normal healthy weight, exercise is still so necessary to keep us moving and to stave off some of the ill effects of our disease, our medications, and aging.
Avatar n tn Couldn't reply to another thread, but I have just started at the weight loss clinic on Union Road in Gastonia. They have low calorie diet that is based on a glycemic index. The doctor also offers hCG shots. The doctor was kind of dry, but straighforward. The staff was absolutely outstanding. The office was very busy and I had a chance to talk to some returning patients and those that I spoke with were doing very well with the program.

I pay 25.00 a week for my injection and 15.00 a week for appetite suppressants. Hope all of you fid the answer for you and reach your goal.

When I told her the shoes were nearly 3 years old, she recommended that I throw them out and get a new pair immediately. Apparently exercise shoes are supposed to be replaced every 6 months, which I never knew. I did a little bit of research to find the brand of shoes that would be best for my needs and placed the order. They came in a few days ago.

I do have a treadmill and actually really like it -- I put in my ear buds and crank up my MP3 player, which is loaded with my favorite music. I also love walking in the streets and have been doing that (3-6 miles/day) for the past 3 months, with my "winter neighbor". She's now gone back to her home state and I'm no longer walking every day, because my hubby doesn't think it's safe to do so alone.

Avatar f tn I don't know what you're using as a heart rate monitor but I suggest using one that straps around your chest and has a wrist monitor. If your bike has one that is built into it they aren't always accurate.
