So I asked her about it (via instant message - is that bad?). She said she gets cold sores sometimes, and the Valtrex gets rid of them quickly. Indeed I remembered that the empty bottle was for a seven-day dosage. But in all of the times that I've seen her, I never noticed a cold sore.

I went to an Urgent Care Clinic and he diagnosed it as Herpes Zoster and prescribed Valtrex 1g 3 times a day. Over the next few days the rash spread down to my mid thigh and on to the top of my penis shaft. The rash has remained only on the left side of my body. Since the rash spread onto my penis I have become very worried about it being actual Genital Herpes.

are u sure it is zoster? It is unusual to get zoster every month, especially if u r taking valtrex, Are u immunosuppressed eg taking steroids, chemotherapy or are u very run down?

I am keeping my fingers crossed. The Herpes simplex 1 which rears its ugly head when I am attacked with pollens etc. and was discussed earlier, can be controlled with Valtrex. 1 pill a day. It has been 60 days and I am vertigo FREE!!! No side effects AT ALL from the Valtrex. valtrex only helps with herpes issues. unless you tested + for herpes being active in your eye, no reason to start valtrex. corneal ulcers are a side effect of contact wearing.

Her and I were together 7 years by this time. I tested positive for Herpes Simplex I (mouth) but was negative for Herpes Simplex II (genital). I was told by the lab that Herpes Simplex I is very common (50-80% of population) and that most people don't know they have it( like me) because they never have symptoms. Well the doctor I've been seeing is a dermatologist. Your Doctor told you tested negative for HS2, Valtrex is a pescription medication for Herpes Simplex 2, not Herpes 1!! how can you be on it for a month since you have been diagnosed?!?! I have just started valtrex again (the first time had weird sides, but was also taking another medicine). My herpes outbreaks cause weird back pain, distension, gas, bloat! I have a hard time accessing the proper muscles in the pelvic floor region to have a bowel movement and feel as though I am constipated even though there is no form to my stool. I will try taking 500mg twice a day to start and see how it goes.

I did the immunoblot (igg) test after 4 weeks, which I know is not a conclusive test, when done that early. It found me negative for HSV-2, but positive for HSV-1. I'd consult a different neurologist for a 2nd opinion if you are still having your all over body symptoms. yes, you can take herpes antivirals while breast feeding :) you can take acyclovir for a lifetime. there are no long term side effects to herpes antivirals.
