valtrex

Avatar m tn herpes simplex disciform keratitis/herpes simplex dendritic keratitis; and candida oral infection. I do not think he had a full blown disseminated infection to answer your question. It was noted as "Perinatal HSV Type Infection: SEM=Skin, Eye and Mucous membranes, systemic spread with development of meningoencephalitis. He did not develop extensive systemic HSV-I as his LFTs were normal and he did not develop a clotting disorder". 3) He is four years old now and has an average IQ.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed and treated with Valtrex for genital HSV 2 about 3 weeks ago and all of my lesions have since dried up and disappeared for the most part. Ever since I have been diagnosed with HSV 2 I have only been sleeping about 2-3 hours per night for 3 weeks which has been awful. Both of my eyes have turned slightly red, slightly irritated at times, and were watery about 3-4 times during the last two weeks mostly at night before bed, but there are no tears pouring down my face.
Avatar m tn If you researched you will see that there are many types of herpes simplex and many forms of eye problems so it is impossible to generalize. There is herpes simplex keratitis primary infection, secondary infection, geographic ulcers, keratouveitis, etc. Some forms of H simplex eye disease go on for years. The very simplest form clears in 2-3 weeks but has a 50% chance of recurrence within 5 years. You will need to get your specifics from your ophthalmologist.
Avatar m tn Yes generally unless you have had herpes simplex keratitis or are a steroid responder or wear contact lens.
Avatar m tn we treat herpes simplex and herpes zoster with the same medications. it's just a matter of dose.
127596 tn?1210922622 Rather than blowing up about it, I came home and did some research. But I was sad to find that Valtrex is only prescribed for Simplex I, Simplex II and Zosters. So I asked her about it (via instant message - is that bad?). She said she gets cold sores sometimes, and the Valtrex gets rid of them quickly. Indeed I remembered that the empty bottle was for a seven-day dosage. But in all of the times that I've seen her, I never noticed a cold sore.
Avatar n tn severe dry eyes, eyelashes scratching eyes, map dot fingerprint dystrophy, herpes simplex keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, staph marginal disease, atopic keratoconjunctivitis, chemical burn, foreign body injury, corneal ulcer, and on and on....... If you and your doctor have not been able figure it out I would put the past behind you and focus on how you can best keep the eyes healthy and seeing well for many years to come.
Avatar n tn If 3 docs say its zoster then its pretty definitely zoster. The valtrex dose given by Londres is correct for the time when the outbreak is present. In my country Valtrex is not licensed for suppression of zoster. You are taking the dose that suppresses the majority (but not all )of simplex outbreaks. The dose to treat zoster is higher than the dose to treat simplex, so I am guessing that the dose to suppress zoster may be higher than the dose to suppress simplex.
Avatar f tn It is quite possible that you have a sexually transmitted disease (STD). It could be herpes simplex type 2 or chlamydia or others. You need to tell your sexual partner about this and get his history of STD. Also need to see ophthalmologist and gynecologist. Consider practicing safe sex or at least safer sex.
Avatar n tn I have in the past from time to time has what I think are fever blisters around the corners of my mouth. Is there a test for Herpes simplex 1? I may mention this to my ENT next time I go there.
Avatar n tn Usually the only virus that we think of that remains dormant and reoccur is the herpes simplex virus or herpes zoster virus, both of which have the ability to cause significant permanant vision loss. Now, I am not sure if she had one of those but it also possible she had some terrible other virus such as adenovirus which while less damaging usually, can cause some permanant corneal scars in some patients.
Avatar n tn Is Valtrex your recommended medication for Simplex 1? It seemed that the doctor didnt even consider anything else and just wrote me the script without explaining my options. Thanks.
Avatar n tn valtrex only helps with herpes issues. unless you tested + for herpes being active in your eye, no reason to start valtrex. corneal ulcers are a side effect of contact wearing.
Avatar m tn Her and I were together 7 years by this time. I tested positive for Herpes Simplex I (mouth) but was negative for Herpes Simplex II (genital). I was told by the lab that Herpes Simplex I is very common (50-80% of population) and that most people don't know they have it( like me) because they never have symptoms. I have never had cold sores or anything on my mouth. I do often get Canker sores in my mouth but it's my understanding that is not herpes.
Avatar n tn Well the doctor I've been seeing is a dermatologist. The test he did was a blood test, I had asked if the test showed which type of herpes simplex I had but he said the test he did doesn't show that, it just shows if have herpes simplex. I already knew I had herpes simplex because I get cold sores, have gotten them since I as a child.
Avatar m tn I have herpes simplex 1 for about 5 years. I didn't have any outbreaks after the first one for almost 2 years, and then about once a year. My doctor prescribed Valtrex to take when I have outbreaks. Recently I have had symptoms of what I though was a herpes outbreak (I just have tingling and light itching/doscomfort-I have never had an actual sore since the first outbreak) and took my the recommended dose 1000mg twice a day for 7 days.
Avatar f tn I have only i bump on the side of the top of the crack of my butt,dr did a culture called me told me its herpes simplex virus and told me to take valtrex i took 1 pill last night and this morning i feel kinda wierd like my right eye is all messed up and side of my face feels burning i also feel nauseated and very dizzy.im afraid to take more of the med as im home alone,i have bad anxiety..
Avatar f tn Your Doctor told you tested negative for HS2, Valtrex is a pescription medication for Herpes Simplex 2, not Herpes 1!! how can you be on it for a month since you have been diagnosed?!?! For surley your doctor didnt pescribe it ... I have never seen any websites claiming that a low sugar diet will help a viral infection of ANY herpes type.
Avatar f tn t assume or you will certainly give someone HERPES for LIFE. You need to verify your hard palate sores with a herpes simplex virus culture.
Avatar m tn I went to labcorp to get fully tested for STDs. Everything came back negative except herpes 2. My results were HSV 1 <0.09 and HSV 2 1.23. The Lapcorp used the Simplex 2 Igg Herpes Select Test. I have read that this could be a false negative but more likely if the HSV 1 came up positive. I have made an appointment with my GYN. Am I silly to have hope that this may be a false negative?
Avatar f tn I have just started valtrex again (the first time had weird sides, but was also taking another medicine). My herpes outbreaks cause weird back pain, distension, gas, bloat! I have a hard time accessing the proper muscles in the pelvic floor region to have a bowel movement and feel as though I am constipated even though there is no form to my stool. I will try taking 500mg twice a day to start and see how it goes.
Avatar f tn As you will probably be aware that there are 2 different strains of herpes. The Herpes Simplex Virus 1 causes cold sores and the most common way that people get Herpes Keratitis is through touching a cold sore and then their eye. Do you get cold sores? These are contagious and if the cold sore is active, you should not kiss anyone. Herpes Simplex 2 is the one that causes the genital infections. If someone has an active sore on the mouth, the virus will be transmitted through kissing.
Avatar n tn Is this for genital herpes or herpes simplex like cold sores?
55646 tn?1263660809 Nationally, there are at least three different studies beginning for the treatment of genital herpes. First, the Genocea phase one (first in humans) trial. Instead of an oral medication to treat herpes, Genocea out of Boston has taken the approach of stimulating the immune system to respond more robustly to the herpes virus in people who are already infected with the virus.
Avatar m tn I have a question I'm positive for herpes type 2... My husband level 1 .... They said after u have ur outbreak u turn 2 level 2.. I just had my dauther yesterday wen I was pregnant the doctor did all the test they never told me she was gone have it.. Everything was fine...
Avatar n tn I am a 74 yr old female and have had sacral herpes of buttocks for over 30 yrs. If not severe i do the topical Acyclovir, if severe i get on the Valtrex immediately. The last 4 yrs it has recurred every month or so. It is now eating into my sacral nerves and i have neuralgia. Right now i have lesions and the pain shoots across both sides of the buttocks. It is creating sciatica down my legs.
