I agree with AnnieBrooke - you need to be seen by a different doctor! And preferably an ear, nose and throat doc! When you have a throat so sore that you can barely swallow, can't eat at all and have ulcers on your tonsils, SOMETHING definitely needs to be done! Did your doc even bother to do a strep test or anything? Strep throat can also cause ulcers in the throat and mouth and strep is definitely something that neeeds to be treated with antibiotics.

But everytime my neck gets extremely bad and I have an awful headache (like today) I get a horrible sore throat. I was just wondering if anyone else expirences this or knows of anyone who has. Thanks, any suggestions on how to make it feel better would be greatly appreciated.

i am on week 13 of tx and I am going on my 6th week of having a sore throat and can not get rid of it. I took antibiotics for 7 days and didnt help at all. My Lymph Nodes located behind the ears and my throat are so enlarged that they are very sore. My nose is congested and is constantly bleeding. Is anyone having this problem? and is their any releif? I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred. Also taking Pepsid. Throat neg for strep and mouth ulcers neg for Herpes.

Because there are no ulcers at all. Would the ulcers present with the sore throat. Thank you so much for your response. Its very comforting.

The spoon like equipment might have contacted the sore throat and throat ulcers of the HIV patient and it could have contacted me too. Please help with your suggestions.

White patches are common in many throat infections. The sore throat and tonsillitis which you had may have contributed to it. In response to the infection the body produces soft white debris which collects in the tiny indentations in the tonsils called crypts. Repeated salt water gargles will help. Mix one teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water and gargle. If the patches increase in size or become painful then consult your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Dear Dr.Anitha, thank you so Much For your Reply & Rich Answer, i went already to a number of ENT , the last 2 of them say i should remove my tonsils , if i want to get ride of the swollen lymph nodes & the sore throat , then this is the solution, what i'm worry about is , i have my tonsils for my whole life , why just now it come chronic ( also could it be the reason for the swollen lymph nodes , sore throat & mouth ulcers .

copegus - i have some of the normal sx but all of a sudden i have a very sore throat, roof of mouth and sore, raw tongue. my tongue seems to be very dry and it burns. i still have my tonsils and think i have gotten tonsilitis (sore throat & hard to swallow) this has been going on for a week now - any suggestions? anyone experience this before?

Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?

Sorry, but I agree with the advice you had from Life360 in your earlier thread. You don't have herpes and something else caused your sore throat. Have you been evaluated for infectious mononucleosis (also called glandular fever)? If you haven't been seeing a doctor, do it now to confirm whether or not you actually have lymphadenopathy and to determine the cause. Of all cases of sore throat and cervical lymphadenopathy, HSV is one of the less common.
