Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
Avatar m tn Is it possible that The Laryngitis i have is responsible for my sore throat, and cough, or Is it a part of the cold?
Avatar n tn When using inhaled corticosteroids, some of the drug may deposit in your mouth and throat and cause laryngitis. This can cause coughing, hoarseness, dry mouth and sore throat. Gargling and rinsing the mouth after each puff on your corticosteroid inhaler, may help to prevent mouth and throat irritation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Three of the four times, I was told I had a sinus infection with laryngitis but the last time was different as I had only laryngitis. Now I feel a lump in my throat, more like the very back of my tongue, and it has become difficult to swallow food.
Avatar f tn I was in the shower a minute ago, and when I pressed down on my throat, on the left side, right under my jaw it hurt. Do I have laryngitis or what? I'm a Taurus, so I'm prone to problems with my neck. But what is going on with me? Please help!
Avatar f tn But drinking lot of fluids, sucking lozenges, gargle with salt water, breathing moist air to soothe sore throat, refraining from taking decongestants (because they dry your throat), resting your larynx will help you. Antibiotics and anti inflammatory against prescription will help you. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn s from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well. Not sure of your situation but I hope it clears soon cuz I know it can be brutal!!

Avatar n tn So went to the doctor two days later, told them I thought I had laryngitis becasue I could not speak, was tired, had a runny nose, and it was very difficult for me to swallow, but no fever and no coughing. My doctor said it was a virus, she ruled out strep with my negative results, and she gave me some cough syrup so that it would soothe my throat and be able to swallow, and said to come back on Monday if I lost my voice completely.
Avatar n tn the docter said ive poped a blood vessel in my throat, now ive lost my voice, why is this?
Avatar m tn t have any symptoms except difficulty in swallowing and discomfort in my throat. I feel like something is struck in my throat 70% of the time. I feel like soar throat if I shout loudly. I am fearing if I would have been infected with HSV1. Will this be Herpes Laryngittis/ pharyngitis? will viral Laryngitis/Pharyngitis get relief from antibiotics as I was feeling well in a day after I took them. Will Herpes Laryngitis/Pharyngitis cause no sores in the mouth, tounge or lips?
Avatar n tn Started feeling achy, with headache, chills and a sore throat a week ago. Had a cough but felt like I couldn't clear my lungs. A couple days later started feeling better and then I started coughing more and then I ended up with Laryngitis. What can you take to speed the recovery from losing your voice. I am so hoarse and wasn't really coughing much to cause this Laryngitis.
Avatar m tn You seem to have acute laryngitis and pharyngitis. The sore throat indicates infection and there can be associated lesion on vocal chords and larynx. Allergic manifestations may be associated with breathing difficulty and skin manifestations. Acute laryngitis is self limiting condition and vocal cord lesions needs voice rest. Along with it general measures like salt water gargling, fluid intake etc. Throat swab will help to identify responsible pathogen and need to take appropriate antibiotics.
Avatar f tn It could be due to varied causes like upper respiratory tract infection like laryngitis or pharyingitis, head and neck cancer, oral cancer, reflux laryngitis in people who have acidity and GERD, muscle abnormality, voice box abnormality, polyps, tumors or weakness of voice box etc. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn I highly doubt its due to cold, flu or anything like that because there are no other symptons other than the occasional slight pain. The pain when swallowing will show up in the morning when i wake up and sometimes at night. I have felt around to check for lumps, swelling, but can't seem to find anything. I have chewed tobacco for approx 5 years, and have smoked occasionally in the past (if i were to put it into numbers probably an average of 1 cig a day for 6 months).
Avatar n tn dry cough throughout sleep of approx. 10 hrs (likely due to throat irritation?
Avatar f tn So I've recently been diagnosed with laryngitis and I used to have asthma as a child. I'm constantly coughing and getting throat and chest infections and finding it really hard to breathe at night especially once I lie down. I'm coughing up mucus all the time too and my chest is constantly feeling tight and sore and I'm short of breath often too.

Avatar m tn I lost my voice about two weeks ago from yelling far too much at a party. Since then, I've been able to speak, but I get pain in the left side of my throat and my ear when I talk for more than a minute. In general, I feel discomfort/a small lump in my throat when I swallow which is really what hurts. My voice sounds totally normal, though.
Avatar n tn On behalf of my Mom who fell in January, obtaining a compound-open fracture of her arm, now diagnosed with RSD... Surgery went fine, still limited ROM, unable to grasp. Received a "cervical nerve block" today for persistent pain - I apologize for the quotes, unaware of the exact procedure as she is in Minnesota and I am in NY (and she's a poor historian) --- Question: Why can't she talk? She has laryngitis-voice and croaked over the phone: It feels like my throat is closed.
