1310633 tn?1430224091 I'm not sure who else to ask besides my MH friends, so here goes (this may be a REALLY stupid question, so don't flame me if it is;-)... I have a pretty bad case of strep-throat at the moment, and I've been really careful about steering clear of my wife so I don't pass it along to her (been taking antibiotics since yesterday evening, but the symptoms persist). Question: Is it possible that I'll pass strep-throat along to my dogs?
Avatar f tn Hello Back in may my wife had a cough and red but not sore or painful throat, she had green mucus in her nose as well. 793908 tn?1294705109 Your in New York and your dogs were in Arkansas...How did you get them? I'm just curious..... One of my group (Poodle) has done the reverse sneeze his whole life...I had his trachea xrayed years ago....It was narrow then....It has never changed....I do give him (All of them) a joint supplement that I feel has the same chemicals needed to keep a trachea healthy....That's just my opinion...He's 8yrs. and I adopted him at 1.
Avatar n tn My dog always has really disgusting bad breathe from her throat problems, always wanting to eat grass to soothe her throat and when throat gets really bad, she throws up alot. My vet suggested she may have stomach acid reflux and is now about to start her on the medication. I really hope they find out what is causing all these throat infections because it must be soooo horrible for the dogs.
Avatar m tn Can this be from the medication or is she in pain? The vet thinks she may have brain tumor, and I want to make sure she is not in pain.
6669309 tn?1462648142 There are indeed some human medications that dogs can take (usually in much lower doses) ... BUT many human medications are not safe for dogs! The reason why some canine medications are more expensive is because they are prepared in a completely different way, even though the actual medication content may be no different.
Avatar f tn Felt a strange pain in the lower right side of throat. Feeling the pain occasionally, while swallowing saliva not always though . But no pain while drinking water or eating food. Also there is no pain when pressing the throat and the adjacent areas with fingers. Got TSH test it came 3.84 (in normal range). Whats causing this? Is it anxiety?
Avatar m tn For the last few weeks i have had a pain in the right side of my throat,it is a slight constant pain but worse when i swallow or shout. I have been to the doctors twice about it he says he cant see anything wrong and told me the 1st time to gargle in asprin(he thought i may have ruptured a blood vessell as i had a chest cold at the time)the second time he told me to take an antiseptic throat spray but nothing has worked and the pain is still threre and seems to be getting worse.
741741 tn?1294284010 ve learned to do it in one second flat. The dog never knows what happened. The trick is to get the pill so far back in the throat that there's no choice but for it to go down. The faster you do it, the less resistance you'll get from the dog because he doesn't have time to think about it and become traumatized. Place your left hand over the top of the muzzle. That will put your thumb on one side of the corner of the mouth and your forefinger on the opposite side.
Avatar n tn In june i hit my head and ended up with a concusion and again in november while steping over my dogs hit my head nockingmyself unconcious. I am not sure if the concusions have anything to do with it but I like to know if these symptos could be something more then just enviromental alergies. I use nasonex, and antihistimines, I was on prednizone 5mg and also was on singulair even though I do not have asthma my dr took me off nasonex and put me on flownase with no change.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the Dogs Community! :-) The cheesy white drainage makes me think it's follicular cysts. Basically, the hair follicles get clogged and the tiny sebaceous glands underneath can't drain properly which results in a pimple or cyst. Think of it along the lines of humans with certain kinds of acne. Like humans, some dogs just produce more oil in their skin, and there's not much to be done for it.

Avatar n tn My dog has a potential disc injury in her back. Last Saturday, she was in a lot of pain. Gave her a Rimadyl and it didn't help. Took her to the emergency vet and they prescribed Tramadol and Robaxin (pain and muscle relaxer). Took her to our normal vet on Monday and he said to continue those meds and also gave her a steroid shot. She did well throughout the week... still stiff but seemed to improve. Last night, Thursday, she seemed to be in pain again.
Avatar f tn There are many human foods that are completely unsuitable for dogs, and one of the many reasons why dogs become ill is because of scraps of human food that is given to dogs. While we are not susceptible to these toxins, dogs are, as they have completely different digestive systems. Please take a look at my article on this subject so you don't give these foods by mistake. http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar f tn Reasons for Coughing: OK, For starters, you need to rule out Heart Problems....The xray will not only show the heart, but also the lungs...This is important.... With Heart Disease, the weak heart cannot pump as well...Fluid builds into the lungs causing the cough..The cough is usually MOIST like they're choking on congestion...Actually, they are...The cough is worse in the mornings & during periods of running, playing & excitement....Fluid will show in an x ray of the lungs.....
Avatar m tn Just to add that it's common to have a throat discomfort accompany jaw pain. When I had angina attacks, the lower jaw felt really stiff like it was difficult to move and all along under the lower back teeth ached. This always followed throat discomfort. The only way I can describe the throat discomfort is to ask you to imagine eating a lot of very strong mint sweets. Eating a whole packet very fast and then drinking cold water.
Avatar n tn In my experience, natural nutrients for many dogs, have proven to be extremely effective in providing relief from arthritis pain. In some dogs, they may be initially used along with Rimadyl. Once a therapeutic blood level of the natural nutrients is reached, the Rimadyl can be weaned down and eliminated. Just to be clear, the time it takes to achieve desired visible results with natural nutrients is directly related to body weight. The bigger the dog, the longer it takes.
