Avatar n tn The cloudy eyes could be Keratitis which is inflammation of the cornea in which the cornea becomes cloudy, resulting in loss loss of eye transparency. Now there are many different forms of Keratitis. All types of keratitis must be treated by a vet. Have you had him checked out? The soft throat could be a Soft palate disorder. It's an abnormality of the tissue in the back of a dogs throat.
1310633 tn?1430224091 I'm not sure who else to ask besides my MH friends, so here goes (this may be a REALLY stupid question, so don't flame me if it is;-)... I have a pretty bad case of strep-throat at the moment, and I've been really careful about steering clear of my wife so I don't pass it along to her (been taking antibiotics since yesterday evening, but the symptoms persist). Question: Is it possible that I'll pass strep-throat along to my dogs?
Avatar f tn I would be planning on a trip to the vet if it was still bothering him later today but my other Labrador swift has a tumor in her throat and although she is ok at the moment I know that very soon i am going to have to take her to put her to sleep so I am afraid to risk a big bill with charlie over this if i can help it as i am not risking her strangling to death because they wont see her when shes in pain due to another bill - if that makes sense.
793908 tn?1294705109 Your in New York and your dogs were in Arkansas...How did you get them? I'm just curious..... One of my group (Poodle) has done the reverse sneeze his whole life...I had his trachea xrayed years ago....It was narrow then....It has never changed....I do give him (All of them) a joint supplement that I feel has the same chemicals needed to keep a trachea healthy....That's just my opinion...He's 8yrs. and I adopted him at 1.

Avatar n tn My dog always has really disgusting bad breathe from her throat problems, always wanting to eat grass to soothe her throat and when throat gets really bad, she throws up alot. My vet suggested she may have stomach acid reflux and is now about to start her on the medication. I really hope they find out what is causing all these throat infections because it must be soooo horrible for the dogs.
Avatar m tn Can this be from the medication or is she in pain? The vet thinks she may have brain tumor, and I want to make sure she is not in pain.
14287919 tn?1434470794 Hi! I am a fifteen year old female, average BMI, exercises rather frequently, eats healthy and all that. However, I've noticed that I notice a rather vague feeling of a lump in my throat. The exact area where it's located is hard to describe; around my collarbone area of my esophagus/throat. It's uncomfortable, and a little annoying.
6669309 tn?1462648142 There are indeed some human medications that dogs can take (usually in much lower doses) ... BUT many human medications are not safe for dogs! The reason why some canine medications are more expensive is because they are prepared in a completely different way, even though the actual medication content may be no different.
741741 tn?1294284010 ve learned to do it in one second flat. The dog never knows what happened. The trick is to get the pill so far back in the throat that there's no choice but for it to go down. The faster you do it, the less resistance you'll get from the dog because he doesn't have time to think about it and become traumatized. Place your left hand over the top of the muzzle. That will put your thumb on one side of the corner of the mouth and your forefinger on the opposite side.
Avatar f tn There are many human foods that are completely unsuitable for dogs, and one of the many reasons why dogs become ill is because of scraps of human food that is given to dogs. While we are not susceptible to these toxins, dogs are, as they have completely different digestive systems. Please take a look at my article on this subject so you don't give these foods by mistake. http://www.infobarrel.
Avatar m tn When I am exposed to certain triggers my throat gets tingly, then numb, my glands directly under my jaw swell slightly, my throat feels like it is closing, i have excess phlegm in my throat and difficulty swallowing. My throat feels partially paralyzed. I feel like I am suffocating. When I arrive at the hospital, an external exam is done and I am sent home as the slightly glands are the only symptom. So I quit going to the hospital and take benedryl.
Avatar m tn When i am exposed to a trigger, my throat will become tingly, then numb, my glands directly under my jaw will swell, slightly. My throat feels swollen on the inside. I have excess phlegm in my throat and cannot clear it. I have much difficulty swallowing. I feels like I am suffocating. A benedryl will somewhat relieve the symptoms, but my throat is affected for 3 to 4 days after an exposure. I am allergic to dust mites, molds, ragweed, cats and dogs.
Avatar m tn My dog has vomited approximately 10 times in the last 2 days. Vomit is partially digested food with white foam. I feed him Iams lamb for sensitive stomaches. I tried withholding food for approxiately 10 hours and feeding him brown rice but within several hours of eating he vomits. Seems to have good energy and not in any pain. I read an article about trying clear liquids but I'm not sure what liquids to give him and how often and how much. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Welcome to the Dogs Community! :-) The cheesy white drainage makes me think it's follicular cysts. Basically, the hair follicles get clogged and the tiny sebaceous glands underneath can't drain properly which results in a pimple or cyst. Think of it along the lines of humans with certain kinds of acne. Like humans, some dogs just produce more oil in their skin, and there's not much to be done for it.
Avatar f tn Fingers crossed it's soon the dogs doing my head in haha.
Avatar n tn You need to get him to his Vet ASAP.......Shaking is a sign of pain......Pain will lead to not wanting to eat.......Please, don't wait any longer......He needs to have treatment.......
Avatar f tn Hi Mark, It is difficult to say without seeing him but I would not focus on the wheezing and throat clearing but would be more concerned with the change in his eating habits and weight loss. I am thinking that he is in pain somewhere, perhaps the mouth (maybe a tooth root abscess which would also explain the wheezing) and his appetite has been effected and now he only will eat food if it is extra yummy. Weight loss in a Jack is very unusual at this age.
Avatar m tn sunday morning whilst out walking my dogs i had pain in my left leg (upper), it went then in the afternoon, but the pain came back in both left leg and even more so in my right quad, it went really really tight and felt as if if was going to pop out (right quad) , the pain was still there at night but not as bad. i had to sit down for a while until the pain eased off. monday morning i walked the dogs again and it returned a little to my upper right quad.
Avatar n tn So I'm 39 weeks 2 days pregnant and I've been having some kind of pain, my sister in laws dog keeps following me does that mean I'm going into labor soon? I've heard dogs do that lol. Idk though, he also smells me or just stares at me for a while and will start wanting to cry.
Avatar f tn I must not allow her to have pain - I love her too much and she has never known a moment of pain or anything but our delight in her. The last act of love I can do for her is to prevent her from never experiencing pain. I am terrified of missing that moment because of the stoic nature of these dogs. Can anyone tell me? Is panting always the sign of pain?
Avatar n tn Throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, scratchiness in the throat, post nasal drip, malaise and loss of appetite are symptoms of tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Viral infections can cause rash. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests and take a throat swab to determine the cause and prescribe appropriate medications. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
