Antifungal medications work fine, but not overnight. You have to keep using them consistently until the problem is gone. On the bottle of an athlete's foot powder I've used, it recommends applying the stuff everyday for 4 weeks. One would hope jock itch clears up faster, though.

Though it is called jock itch, it may not itch always. Usually a reddish rash or area of darkened or tanned skin appears on penis/scrotum/groin fold/adjacent thighs. This is often accompanied by a burning or tingling sensation.

ask your doctor about using prednizone, triamcinolone acetonide, luxiq, or clobbetasol creams. to help the itch after the scabies have been gone. along with the oral steroids they should give you a hydrocortiszone shot in the bum to prevent itchy along with a external scbies killing creme.

I have what I assume is a fungal infection on my inner thighs. It's a reddish-brown with clearly defined borders. I've had it before but kind of forgot about it, and recently noticed it again. The skin is slighty more scaly there than surrounding it. I just don't know that it's jock itch because there is no itching, burning or discomfort. The only symptom is the discoloration itself.
If you get frequent outbreaks, you can use an antifungal cream or powder, or even corn starch or baby powder, once a day, to get rid of jock itch more permanently. You should also follow the above suggestions for keeping the skin as cool and dry as possible, and for clothing choices.

I'm having trouble with similar problem. I would get tested to make sure it is a fungal infection you're dealing with. I unsuccessfully tried anti-fungal cream and all sorts of jock-itch remedies before finding out my rash wasn't fungal. I'm guessing mine could instead be psoriasis or eczema, but I'm lost at the moment.
i started running about a week ago. On my third run i started feeling rubbing in my groin area from my underwear. I have run several times since this adn now i have a rash on my scrotum. red dots that are burning an uncomfortable. I search jock itch but they say it doesn't usually affect the scrotum or penis. I'm very uncomfortable right now.

and it really itches from time to time..The area of itch skin feels a little rough than other area..is it a jock itch or fungal infection? should i use ketoconazole shampoo on the rash? I dont have any other problems. No change in urine colour or anything other than itching. I had tinea few months back in armpit and now in stomach skin which is decreasing after putting miconazole cream.
It started as a jock itch, i used anti-fungal cream for 2 months. After the first 2 weeks the jock itch marks went away, but the redness and itchiness stayed, after 2 months i gave up on anti-fungal and did some research. The scrotum skin is very absorvent compared to normal skin and anti-fungal creams can easily cause dermatitis there. So i used a weak hidrocortisone cream for about 1 month (after 2 days the itchiness was all gone!) and it was back to normal.
Ok something else I don't understand is I don't experience itching with my jock itch. Just heat from the rash. Is this normal?
Will rubbing alcohol eventually remove the rash?

The symptoms are suggestive of Jock itch. Jock itch shows up in post-adolescent men and hormonal changes during puberty,lifestyle and heredity each play a role.Predisposing fungal disease like tines cruris may also aggravate it.
Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying,not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins.The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply.Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day.
m 22 now) I looked at some pictures of jock itch in the groin which is where I have the rash and it is a perfect match from looks.
I've been applying alcohol the kind you use for cuts and scrapes. I read on a google search this can make the rash go away but not sure it. For now, getting rid of the rash would be good enough for me. Something to note is that the rash did expand a very short bit down my thigh but for the past 5 months or so it hasn't expanded rather stay the same.

Is there an odor associated with Jock Itch? I have what seems like a yeast-like odor that is not strong, but noticable, and I haven't read anything relating this to Jock Itch.
Also...I understand the fungus Tinea Cruris is the cause, but what does it do to the skin to cause it to itch so badly? Poison Ivy was not as bad as this, and I am curious why this stuff is so itchy.

I don't think I have herpes. I had what looked like jock itch but very bad jock itch. I feel like I irritated it by scratching and showering it with extremely hot water... Because that felt semi soothing due to the itching. But now I'm paranoid. My jock itch has sense gone away as I used OTC Limotrin for jock itch. I feel as though it was jock itch because it was in the in fold between my thigh and pelvis. Also, I had a rash that was circular on each side of my pelvis.
