Avatar n tn Hi, The video EEG will be able to help differentiate btween the migraine aura or an underlying epileptic aura. The presence of spikes and waxing and waning patterns may suggest a migraine aura.A migraine aura may sometimes present with spike activities almost smilar to a seizure. However ,EEG reading is a complex procedure that requires an expert to properly diagnose the underlying diagnosis.
Avatar f tn He's is developing normally and is on track with all of his milestones. Here's a video of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar n tn I am a 35 yr old female that 2 yrs ago starting having seizure like activity I have had several EEG's and did a 5 day EEG video monitoring. Apparently I was physically having seizures but EEG did not show one. I still physically have seizures or something that looks like a seizure. Mostly I do not loose contiousness however I am not always able to communicate depending on what part of my body is seizing.

7402782 tn?1390590497 Now you understand why I'm resorting to online communities in lieu of our vet! Karla-- I honestly thought we were seizure free from here on out, as it has been quite a few months. These seizures have all happened within the last year, however. Most of them were separated by a few months, while two of them fell within a week of each other. I'm now realizing this may have been her 5th seizure, as I recount them.
969132 tn?1249327851 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIu1TI961XQ I am female, 21 years old with asthma and overweight. I had just lost about 35 pounds (from working out and eating healthy) when this all started to happen, and now it is so bad that I can barely walk around my house and take care of my kids, let alone work out with the vigor that I previously had. I still eat healthy but am not losing weight. About 1 year ago I had twins and lost quite a bit of blood but have since recovered.
8439435 tn?1398133408 Other times I have spinal jerks with these symptoms (sometimes severe). It takes several days to recover from severe episode. One seizure left my complete right side stiff for days ( I drug my leg to walk). I have never had cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, abuse of any kind and I'm healthy other wise. For some reason some grocery stores, Sams and Wal-Mart trigger symptoms. Neuro/Doctors always act stumped or try to quiz me for abuse etc. since EEG came back good, I was symptom free during EEG.

Avatar f tn Your body may be building an immunity to your medication, while "teaching" the other parts of your brain. Your best bet is to make an appointment w/ your neurologist. When first put on Keppra I was seizure-free for approx. 3 yrs before the seizures gradually came back. I've had auras & complex partials all of my life but at an older age I statred having grand mals as well. In regards to video games and computers it all depends on what triggers the seizures.
Avatar n tn I had a right temporal lobectomy five years ago. After being seizure and medication free for years, about two months ago I fainted. Ever since then, I've been experiencing faintness/dizzyness. I'm also getting nausea frequently. Since my surgery, I've had daily headaches/migraines and now my neurologist said that my headaches may have moved and instead of causing pain (because my headaches have become less frequent/severe since fainting)that they're now causing this dizzy feeling.
Avatar n tn His MRI is clear and seizure free on his last video EEG. Anyone have experience on taking their kids off Dilantin after brain surgery? Also his school is being very difficult to work with. He has had trouble with every seizure med or ADHD med he's taken!!!!
Avatar f tn Could be a form of seizure of a simple fit. Video tape it and take that with you.
Avatar n tn I am completely confused why I had a seizure tonight after going a whole week seizure-free. Is there something we're missing here? MRI, MRA, CT, EEG and bloodwork all came out beautifully. I appear to be a perfectly healthy 30 year old woman. I don't drink, smoke or use drungs. Is it possible that the trauma of my childhood is causing all of these terrible physical problems and that the true answer is as simple as therapy?
Avatar n tn Surgery may be a good option for many people, especially if their seizures consistently begin in the same location within the temporal lobe. Many people become seizure-free when the affected portion of the lobe is removed.
699912 tn?1235671550 You will be 80% chance of becoming seizer free. You will have an MRI and they will notice if you have swollen scar tissue on the side of the brain that is causing you to have seizers, my fiance had his surgery on the left side of the brain and hadn't had one seizer afterword. He used to have partial complex seizers every other day, once or twice a day. The surgery was a miracle. They will do tests to make sure the surgery will not effect your memory or speech first.
Avatar n tn She was seen at NYU and diagnosed with left temporal lobe seizure disorder. Her MRI is normal but the Video EEG did show spiking and slowing during sleep, off medication. She had a major seizure while there. Since (Oct. 99)she has had three episodes. One generalized and lasted 14 mins. The last two (within two weeks of each other) lasted only 2-3 mins and did not generalize. She is on 700 mg./day Tegretol XR. She has "visual flashes" about every other day.
Avatar n tn Under what I understand to be normal medications, I am basically seizure free. However!!! When I become stressed, (stressed anything greater than what one would consider very mild stress) I begin to spiral out of control, becoming more and more stressed, and end up in a state in a matter of a few hours in which I begin having seizures again. Usually 2 to 4 moderate to severe. HELP!!! Is this something I may have to live with from now on?
Avatar n tn I don't like her too, but it's better than a seizure. I still worry about her, but she's been seizure free for about 15 months now. I think if you made sure your daughter is never going too long without a meal, and has nutra grain or snack bars with her... it might just be key in helping curb the seizures. Chemical imbalances contribute to weird behaviors in people, and when you are hungry, people react in different ways.
Avatar n tn In regard to EEGs, a majority of children with epilepsy will only have changes on the EEG during seizure activity. In those cases, most are referred for an overnight Video EEG during which the child is taken off their anticonvulsants and hooked up to the machine and filmed overnight. This might be something to discuss with your neurologist. The only other possiblity was that your child might be having sleep apnoeas however this isn't a usual presentation.
1545371 tn?1330802307 I had tonic clonic seizures, complex partial and myoclonic seizures. I have been seizure free on medication for several years now. A large proportion of my seizures occured during sleep. I reduced my meds several years ago with the help of my neurologist as i was keen to get pregnant. Lately i have been wakening feeling extremely groggy and tired which lasts throughout the day and my body aches when i waken. I feel some days like i have been hit by a bus.
Avatar m tn Every EEG (except the video EEG 2000 stated above) including a video home surveillance EEG in 2005 showed no signs of seizure/miscommunication in brain. Several MRIs all unremarkable and VNG done in 2016 unremarkable results. Last Neurologist/vestibular specialist I saw believed it not be vertigo or epilepsy but actually migraines. After months almost a year of magnesium and riboflavin supplements, no relief.
Avatar m tn January - I have gone to see my neuro. He is calling it simple partial seizure disorder. He says tics are myoclonic and that they are leading to the larger siezures. Stress and lack of sleep could be a factor, but no real cause is identified. He has changed my meds to Topamax. I also have seen a phychiatrist. He offers no real insite, but changes my med from efexor to celexa. February - I have been on the Topamax and so far so good. For awhile anyway. They come back but not as bad.
Avatar n tn The doctors tried to ween her off her meds last year since she had been seizure free for years and they say sometimes after menopause you, in a sence, out grow the seizures.......But...she had another siezure after droppping down the dosage of meds, so I guess she will have to remain on them. My daughter wore a heart monitor, but had to push a button to activate it if she felt a seizure coming on. She does not feel them coming on, so this test was of no value.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine is about 12 weeks pregnant and had a mild seizure yesterday. When she went to the hospital, they listened for the baby's hearbeat and they did hear one. She had 2 seizures about 4 1/2 years ago but has been free and clear since then. She has been off of her medicine for years. Someone told her that the increase in hormone levels during pregnancy can make you seize. Does anyone know anything about this or experience similar symptoms? Thanks.
Avatar m tn However, yes, chances of remaining seizure free are pretty high. If left temporal lobe is not his dominant lobe then prognosis in terms of memory, cognition, language will be better. There, is nothing like a 'window period'. If he is not responding to medications and the condition either remains the same or worsens, then an earlier surgical interventions increases the chances of remaining seizure free post surgery.
