Common Questions and Answers about Period definition

371980 tn?1276744409 Just curious and want to get everyones opinion... 1. what is your definition of clean? 2. what is your definition of a relapse? 3. Under what circumstances would you restart your clean date? My Answers: 1. Clean means I am drug free. My body is healthy or on its way to getting healthier. 2. Relapse is when you use again. Not a one time thing like a couple pills one day or a few lines one day but a bender...using for a few plus days at a time. 3.
Avatar n tn It's counted to the start of one period (when u start bleeding) to the start of the next. So when you first start bleeding, that's your first cycle. And yep, the first day of the cycle is the day yo ustart bleeding. The Mid-cycle, though I'm sure is basically between the days that you are still bleeding and about to stop. Not after.
384150 tn?1399908416 Can someone tell me what the clinical definition of spotting is. About how much or little is considered spotting. Is it still spotting if there is a little blood in the toilet as well as on TP?
401095 tn?1351395370 I read a couple of posts recently and thought about this...If someone screws up and takes a few pills, or even takes pills for a few days and then quits again quickly, is that a real relapse? Or is it just a bump in the road? Is a relapse more like when u go off the deep end again and go "back to the using life" for a period of time...just wondering what the general consensus was on this?
Avatar n tn (1) If certain condition was diagnosed more than 6 months ago. Suppose the condition is such that it is chronic, not easy to cure and generally not life threatening, and I have not seen a doctor in the past 6 months for that condition, does that constitute as pre-existed condition that I need to fill in the application form? (2) This question is different: I am applying for individual health insurance after my COBRA coverage expires next month (after 18 months in group health plan).
8961294 tn?1404180267 What does everyone think about the new definition for full term? It's 39-41 weeks now. http://www.usatoday.
84483 tn?1289941537 I am very curious as to what is the definition of a truly structural normal heart as it sames to me that no organ in the body is without some kind of blemish, I guess it would be the significance of the blemish that defines normal, my guess only.
Avatar f tn Technically you cannot have a period while pregnant. By definition a period is sloughing the uterine lining which cannot happen while pregnant as the embryo implants in the lining. BUT you can have bleeding while pregnant. A rare percentage of women experience implantation bleeding. When the bleeding stops I'd take a First Response pregnancy test and see what it says!
Avatar n tn Hi, maybe someone can help me out. For almost a year everytime I have my period I get so much pain down there. The pain feels like something is gonna push out my insides, or if I'm sittin on the toilet it feells like if I push while being its all gonna come out same with #2, sounds gross .but on a scale from 1-10 I have felt pain I think its safe to say a 10, its come to the point I feel like I'm gonna pass out from the pain. I did ask a doctor about it, and her response was take some Tylenol.
1845665 tn?1318952968 Sure, it felt like a period, looked like a period, but I was pregnant...and my uterine lining was thick and sustaining my pregnancy. Women bleed in pregnancy for a number of reasons from SCH, infection, low hormone levels indicating a possible miscarriage, trauma to the cervix during intercourse, etc.
Avatar f tn personally I don't Believe You Can Have A True Period While Pregnant Because The Definition Of A Period Is The Shedding Of The Uterine Lining... Therefore If You Shed Your Uterine Lining You Are Releasing And Shedding Anything That Is In It Or on It As Well... I Think You Can have Bleeding That Maybe Resembles A Period But Its Not A True Period Based Off The Definition. I'm Sure Someone Will Disagree With Me Tho But That's my Thought And Opinion.
Avatar n tn What I have noticed the most in the last three months is that it flares up the worst around my period. I suspect this is all hormonal and I need to take the next step to find a specialist in Dallas to help me. I suspect this is a matter of balance in my system at this point since there is a flare up at the same time the last three months. I'll keep you all posted as to what I find out.....
Avatar n tn But premature menopause is defined as menopause before age 40. However, one missed period doesn't mean a person is in menopause. That definition is one year of missed periods. So what you are experiencing is more likely just an early sign of perimenopause, the window of years leading up to menopause. It doesn't mean you aren't normal. If the period is missed for 3 months or more, make an appointment to talk with your doctor.
Avatar f tn When you pregnant do you only miss your first period or do you still have them every month?
2073572 tn?1334304607 The window period occurs between the beginning of HIV infection and the demonstration of detectable antibodies to the virus. The window period is almost three to four weeks. Nevertheless it can be extended or longer. The antibody blood tests like ELISA, western blot test, rapid tests, performed during the window period may provide false negative results. Antibodies take almost three weeks to be produced after HIV infection. They become detectable by four or six weeks after HIV infection.
Avatar n tn So I am not sure how someone could have a period and still be pregnant if the definition of a period is the shedding of the uterine lining. That is my personal opinion. But you will get some comments from people saying absolutely you can have a period your whole pregnancy no question asked. I would agree more with the previous poster that you can have vaginal bleeding but it cant really be classified as a "period". I would talk to your dr about it and see what their opinion is.
Avatar n tn I was curious as to if it is at all possible to have a normal period (with cramps) during pregnancy?
Avatar n tn No, it is not normal to have a period after having a hysterectomy. However, some women refer to any kind of vaginal bleeding as a period. A "period" actually refers to the cyclic build up of the endometrial lining of the uterine cavity, that is shed approx 2 weeks after an egg is released and not fertilized. By definition, you don't have a uterus, no endometrium, and hence shouldn't be having menstruation.
Avatar f tn i also have a watery discharge during my period. it is clear and odorless. even if there is very little blood on my tampon, it soaks through and leaks through my pad and clothing as well. recently, i have been having less liquid blood and more clots, with a lot of the watery discharge. i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff.
Avatar n tn I promptly went to the drugstore and bought an iron supplement and am currently taking the amount recommended by the pharmacist for women who are not anemic (if anemia is confirmed I would bump up the dose). I have been taking the iron for two days and my period (I was just at the start of one) has gotten extremely heavy. I am on the pill and normally have light periods that are even lighter by this point. Is this a normal side effect of iron supplements?
Avatar n tn i had my period for the first 3 months when i was pregnant with my daughter, so it CAN happen. thats why i didnt think i was pregnant for the longest time, so i didnt even test until i missed it. imagine my surprise when i went to the dr thinking i was a mo or 2 along and they said close to 4!!! id take another test to be sure!!!!
Avatar f tn not to mention the feeling of cramping in my stomach like i'm having my period. and the spotting is getting heavier. so..anyone else have this happen? is this a norm?
Avatar f tn My Bf Told me that i can still be pregnant even though i got my period....Is this true?
Avatar n tn The window period refers to the period between infection and formation of detectable levels of anti-HIV antibodies in the bloodstream". And also i learned that now the most conservative window period is 6 months(3 month is the standard),so i chosed to test after 6 months, the exact time is 7.5month mark post my unprotected vaginal exposure with a unknow woman in the club.I've totally tested 5 times with ELISA and rapid tests, there were7week,10week,13week,5month,7.
Avatar m tn Does Hepatitis C or any of the other hepatitis viruses really cause delayed antibody production on standard antibody test?? is it possible that HCV will affect the HIV window period when co-infected with both at the same time?
Avatar m tn 4) Requested doctor to perform a viral load test, as I understand that this has a much shorter window period, results pending. As you can probably tell from the number of tests I've taken in such a short period, I'm rather concerned that I am in fact infected. My questions to you are as follows: 1) Given the short time since exposure, what value, if any is there in the above tests? 2) How can I find a treatment center in NYC which has rapid combo tests?
Avatar n tn If you look up by definition the word period it is the shedding of the uterine lining and all that's in it. But the only way to know if you are pregnant is take a test but if you are having completely normal periods changes are no you arent.
Avatar n tn my question is why do I get these pms symptoms before my period but no period never comes? Doesn't your body know that it is not coming so it should not trigger all these annoying symptoms? Yesterday i had a horrible pms migraine and have been waiting and waiting for my period to come, i've had bloating, cramps, insomnia, moodswings, and very sore breats and a general blah feeling for two about two weeks now and i was due about a week ago. I am pretty much irregualr.
