Avatar f tn It's obvious that you know what the treatment is, but it's too expensive for you. Any medication, that treats anxiety, can get you hooked on it and in a short time. Once on benzodiazapines with no other treatment, you will be heading down a long and sad road. Something maybe your bride needs to know. Anxiety IS treatible.
10743983 tn?1440213810 I am worried about taking medication for it because of the baby and when I did take medication, it never helped so I quit taking it. Just need a friend, someone I can speak freely too. Its not always easy with him, and my anxiety is strong when I try too. He wants to understand, but I barely do and I dont know how to explain it. I feel like a nut.

Avatar f tn Anxiety can cause all kinds of feelings, and numbness is certainly one of them. If your doctor is aware of your anxiety and he says it is nothing, then I would try not to worry too much about it. However, if he is NOT aware of your anxiety condition, then I would tell him about it and how it seems to correlate with your being anxious. Just another thougth, have you seen a chiropractor for this?
Avatar n tn For those of you who have had success with SSRIs, which one have you found to be most helpful in treating anxiety without increasing tachycardia/arrythmia issues? Since I've been off and on Paxil several times over the last ten years, I think, and my doctor agrees, that it has lost its effectiveness for me. My doc suggested adding Welbutin, but I didn't want to do that because I've heard it can aggrevate heart issues.
Avatar f tn why must i have it but others don't. its so annoying. i don't do things anyhow. i always stay safe.
398624 tn?1266273049 The only medication I take is Xanax. I take one a day. I used to take Ativan and I took 3 a day and my body got immune to those. Xanax does help some, but I can still feel the symptoms some and then, it all comes back when the Xanax does wear off. I am on the computer probably about 2-3 hrs a day. I used to be on the computer ALL day with my job and it didn't bother me then.
Avatar m tn Then your brain can see the success you're having, and it becomes accustomed to experiencing previously anxiety-producing stimuli, without the panic reaction. Then the stimuli is no longer powerful, and if you like, with a toolbox full of coping skills from a competent therapist, you can titrate down the medication. My deepest apologies if this is obvious. It's my first time on the site. I hope I haven't insulted anyone.
Avatar n tn click on the site and they will be able to match you with an appropriate doctor based on your zip code and also enter the # of miles you are willing to travel 100 mile round trip is a good # to start with, I travel 175 miles round trip every 3 months as refills are allowed on this medication. Avatar n tn It did for me and now my depression is bearable without the fear. I actually have many happy days(even when I am not manic). Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist suggested that I take a very low dose of Atenolol to help with the anxiety attacks since my main complaint is my fast heart rates. Is this a wise choice for anxiety, or is there another medication or method to help me get better?
Avatar m tn Of course, it goes without saying that if you aren't finding a lot of relief with your current treatment method, then something has to change, as no one needs to suffer needlessly without trying other options. It all depends on how much the anxiety is affecting your life, and how debilitating your symptoms are.
732519 tn?1232272023 and get an overall perspective of each medication and make an informed decision when speaking to your psychiatrist. But as for anxiety some people find Klonopin to be sedating but I've never had a problem with it and I've taken it for 10 years. There are new classes of anti-depressents in development all the time so you should be able to find something helpful but that doesn't cause cognitive side effects (the problem you encountered).
Avatar f tn I only had about a bit more than 24 hours without my meds but I never, ever want to experience it again. I found it brutal. I'm sure the pain clinic will know what to do about that, though. I don't know if my pain clinic has limits on dosages. I'm on 40 mg. now. (I may have mistyped in other posts and put 30.) Maybe they could add in taking it one more time as I only take it 3 times a day. I haven't changed narcotic medications yet; just increased the dosages (and added the oxycontin.
Avatar f tn This book is helping me understand what is happening in my brain, and making me understand that it is all anxiety which can be healed with the right treatment. If you're in desperate need for help, PLEASE buy and read this book, see you phychiatrist for possibly being perscribed medication, and find a good therapist to work on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response therapy and Acceptance. These are all things that have been helping me.
Avatar m tn It IS possible to overcome anxiety without medication, but I would strongly recommend you work with a good therapist if this is the path you choose. It is absolutely your right to decide you do not want to take psychotropic (NOT "psycho") medications, but where did you get the idea they would "screw your head up?" For generalized anxiety, which in my humble and non-medical opinion is what I believe you have, the medications used are very effective, mild and safe.
3060903 tn?1398568723 If you are taking a medication for anxiety, do not change your dosage without consulting your physician! Many different types of medications are used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including traditional anti-anxiety drugs such as benzodiazepines, and newer options like antidepressants and beta-blockers. These medications can be very effective, but they shouldn’t be thought of as a cure.
Avatar f tn I've been able to pick the lock on the first and can trick the electric one open. I've gone months without taking them then fallen back into taking 20-30 (she has a script for 90).
Avatar n tn Our dear MrGreen has given you excellent advice. Of course I feel the need to weigh in with my "old crone" advice! As MrG said, what you describe is pretty classic for an anxiety attack. If it were a full blown PANIC attack, I think you would be less "calm" about what you are experiencing. Anxiety, even intense anxiety, can often be dealt with in a fairly rational way, whereas a true panic attack renders you virtually incapable of something as basic as speech in many cases.
Avatar m tn I take LORAZEPAM .5MG as needed for sleep and anxiety - would it be ok to take 1mg for very bad panic attacks? what is the maximum daily dose and expected side effects at each dose?
