Anti anxiety medication names

Common Questions and Answers about Anti anxiety medication names

Avatar f tn I use three trackers - Mood, Anxiety and Sleep. I take Venlafaxine, which is included in the mood tracker, but the Sleep tracker only has "Anti-Anxiety medication" or "Anti-depressants", so I pick the latter. The Anxiety tracker has both "Anti-depressants" and "Effexor", so I end up having to tick Effexor as well.
Avatar m tn im sick of getting panic attacks even with the valium and ativan,,,, ive been one or the other for a year now , im just wondering if theres an anti drpessant for anxiety attacks, that is weaker than paxil or prozac? i was on paxil before and i didnt like tha way it made me feel. im just sick of feeling like this?
377323 tn?1199491769 Does anyone know if any of the meds drs prescribe help with the mental withdrawl symptoms? i could just take tylenol for the physical withdrawl symptoms. Also, what are the names of the drugs that you can take for withdrawl symptoms? I'm going to a new dr and want to know what he/she is talking about and want to hear from people who have actually taken the drugs and know that they work. Also, can you get addicted to those? Hope not...
Avatar n tn I have spent hours researching the causes of opiate addiction. I have told you the names of the doctors who know the most about opiate addiction and and opiate agonist therapies. Buprenorphine is only available for addiction to a few selected treatment facitilies and not the general public. I want to help a few who will listen. There seems to be a trend with some of the posters to discredit me. I KNOW MY FACTS!!
Avatar m tn I will give the antidepressants a little longer and take it from there. Which anti anxiety medication do you take and how helpful has it been for you? The antidepressants don't seem to do much but the Valium gives me some relif. I've been taking the Valium once in the morning for about 10 weeks. Well I'm off to get my second run on Lexapro as I'm out. Iv'e also found that Clanazapan is sold under a different brand name here, so maybe that will be a better option for me.
Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for a couple years but went off of that about 9 months ago and have NOT BEEN ON ANY anti-depressants since. I decided to go off ALL anti-depressants because the ONLY effect I got from any I took was the side effects - everything from MASSIVE night sweats, to a TOTAL elimination of my sex drive AND all of the previously mentioned issues relate to cognitive ability. Did any of these meds help with the original issues of sadness related to the breakup? WHO KNOWS?
Avatar f tn I used to spell OK, but now it is getting worse. But I don't worry about it, or think it is due to my medication. What anti-depressant are you on?
Avatar n tn There is no "best medication" as everyone responds differently to different treatments. However, there are an increasing number of options as regards antipsychotics. I was allowed to start a community on new treatments in development and I have posted information on all available options and linked it up on my personal page. Only a psychiatrist can decide what medication is appropriate but it is good to keep updated.
Avatar f tn Whenever I see lightning, or hear or even think I hear lightning I freak out and I am sick and tired of it. I was wondering what medication would be best for my anxiety. Since thunderstorms only last a couple hours I am looking for a short acting medication.
Avatar f tn Well, my doctor ended up not putting me on an anti-depressant. He thinks I need anti-anxiety medication more. So he gave me a prescription for Klonopan. Haven't taken it yet since I have some Xanax to go thru first and my dr. told me to start the Klonopan after my "stash" of Xanax is used up. Thanks for your advice.
Avatar n tn I do want to say, your condition is slightly different, so if Dr. offers an anxiety med, don't ask for Paxil instead. Paxil is a SSRI, anti-depressant/panic attacks. They have many side affects & must be monitored. A low-dose anxiety-med is cheap & can be stopped easy. Anti-depressants must be titrated down or sudden stop can cause seizure. Trust the Dr. though. You may need the SSRI since condition isn't dx'd yet. Paxil is like the old Prozac w/ slt change. Gd-luck.
5757880 tn?1395581622 However, she did give me a list of the medication children with PDD would normally take, so I can research it. The names are Risperdal, Latuda and Fanapt. When I briefly looked at these meds today, I noticed they are prescribed for bipolar disorder. So now I'm confused.... She never mentioned my son was bipolar. Also, I thought PDD was a part of the Autism Spectrum and usually children with Autism don't receive medication regarding their disorder???
Avatar n tn If morning sickness is a defense mechanism against the ingestion of toxins, the prescribing of anti-nausea medication to pregnant women may have the undesired side effect of causing birth defects or miscarriages by encouraging harmful dietary choices.[9] Woman who do not have morning sickness have a higher rate of miscarriage and birth defects.
Avatar f tn I've been trying to concieve now for a year and i have terrible anxiety. Ive had it for 4 years now with no relief. I've been to every doctor imaginable and have no relief. I currently take zoloft but i have been trying to slowly take less in case i get pregnant but my anxiety and panic attacks get worse. I desperatley want a baby but my fear of being pregnant with no medication scares me terribly. Has anyone taking medication while pregnant and is it ok?
Avatar f tn Does anybody what the dosage for someone like me would be and what are the names of anxiety medications that doctors prescribe?
Avatar f tn if your doctor told you that you had this, you wouldn't think twice about taking the needed medication, and anxiety is no different. Don't get hung up on because this is mental and not physical, that you should be able to handle it on your own because we rarely can. It sounds like you've endured a lot, do what is needed to no longer be held hostage by anxiety. Keep an open mind regarding medications and I wish you all the best!
358304 tn?1409713092 Just 2 sessions and I was free of anxiety. No meds needed! I'm an anti med kind of guy. (Just for me. Too sensitive.) I was glad I did. He reassured me I would get out of this anxiety funk. Its SO funny... as many times I've gone through anxiety spells (for me anxiety spells is when I have a bad anxiety attack: shaking, rapid heart rate, nervous stomach, and just bad bad anxiety...
667078 tn?1316004535 I wanted to deny my cat's anxiety like I deny my own. I have resisted medication which helps. I have denied anxiety over and over. Since I got cancer they have gotten me on anti anxiety medications and I am so much happier. I do not like it when it pops up on medical records. But why? It is not bad having anxiety. It can cause so many health conditions like cancer to be worse. I guess I am used to the bad old days when depression and anxiety were stigmas. They should not be.
439168 tn?1307935340 I've been stuck on the same medication for years because every time I try a new medication, it freaks me out or has wierd side affects. I really am a poor example. I've been taking Lithium 300mg, Paxil 40, and Clonezepam .10 mg a day forever (the past 8 years at least) . . . I know other medications would be more affective but it's so hard to change as medications like Paxil and Clonezepam are addictive in your system and you feel the affects when you quit taking them . . .
460185 tn?1326081372 Mr. Green - you sound like you feel some of the way I do. I'm trying to get some of my existence back but sometimes losses and grief just shatter me. I keep going and going but would do almost anything I could to find a time machine and go back to the years when I made mistakes with my kids, family and even friends. Even with a "significant other" (and from Ireland too lol), I still feel incredible loneliness.
Avatar f tn I know one that gave Clonopcyn (for high blood pressure but unfortunately she already had low blood pressure) instead of Klonoptin (anti-anxiety drug.) The patient took more than prescribed and was blind in 5 days, since they already had low blood pressure. (the drug names were close and something like what I used.
Avatar f tn ) you will see in many of my posts that I am a big anti-medication person (for the most part, especially using only this to cope). You are absolutely doing the right thing by wanting to attack this thing sooner than later. Oh, and, as many people on here will also tell you - DO NOT search the internet in an attempt to answer for your own diagnosis, this can only lead to more anxiety - Google = bad :). I know it is hard to do, and still do it myself sometimes, and always regret it afterwards.
Avatar m tn I've read most of the posts here and I don't see anywhere where you are taking an anti-anxiety medication. You have GAD...Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Most often, that doesn't come with panic attacks. By now, you should be seeing your doctor and they SHOULD HAVE PRESCRIBED SOMETHING FOR YOUR ANXIETY - A Sedative! I take Ativan for my GAD and it gives me MY LIFE BACK.
1212489 tn?1270144940 They believe that patients with chronic pain, also have a form of depression and anxiety. Our docs will not only treat with pain meds but with anti-depressants and anxiety meds. They schedule patients to talk with the psychologist to help them deal with the pain a little better. There is such a wide range of pain meds and I understand your docs thinking. But, living with the pain is hard.
3111729 tn?1341760424 You're suffering and you have Ativan? Ativan is a benzodiazepine, which is an anti-anxiety medication. Take it as prescribed, it will help tremendously until you can get in to see a psychiatrist (which, btw is a great move!). If you can, try to take the lorazepam (Ativan), BEFORE your panic gets out of control. The earlier on you take it, the better it will work in terms of stopping your panic. The other med is Ambien, which is a med for insomnia.
Avatar n tn it's more of an antidepressant than an anti-anxiety med, though many have found help from it for anxiety. It may just not be your med, whereas Zoloft was. As for the sexual thing, that's pretty common with all the snris and ssris -- it can happen with Effexor just as easily as with Zoloft for some people, so there you go. If you decide to quit, please do it slowly and in consultation with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn Well I had went to the doctors with this and he had brushed it off as being an onset of anxiety and prescribed me with Amitriptyline and sent me on my way. He did a full blood work up on me when all my systems started and said that there was nothing wrong with me. Just to let you know I've had quite a big of onset panic attacks over the prolonged time from when I came back from my trip. Basically what I am asking is can my symptoms be the cause of ALS or could it just be anxiety?
Avatar m tn To me, having suffered with panic attacks for many years, and now suffering anxiety thanks to a medication foul up, I would say antidepressants are a last, not a first, resort. Unlike the person who had the wonderfully easy experience with celexa, many have terrible problems with these drugs, and as for the guy who suggested cheap Paxil, going off that drug is one of the hardest things there is to do in life. I never recovered.
Avatar f tn Xanax helps a little, but puts me to sleep and I don't like its addictive qualities (yes, I know alcohol is addictive, but it feels so much more effective). I am miserable with this problem. Why can't there be a real anti-anxiety drug and not just an addictive sedative like Xanax? :-( Best wishes to all. Keep posting.
Avatar n tn My doctor gave me enough anti-anxiety drug Xanax to be sure it was having an effect. It was a bit of an experiment getting the right dose, but for me, 0.5mg packs a whallop. It feels like I've had 3 glasses of wine+ a little sleepiness on top of that. The only thing the drug is capable of impacting is anxiety--not heart rhythm, vascular obstruction, blood pressure, organ pressure caused by a tumor, or anything else.
