Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication no prescription

anxiety

Avatar n tn I was prescribed Propranol with Effexor, because of bad anxiety, and there was no reaction between those two. However I did have a bad reaction between an anti-depressant (can't remember which) and migraleave for migraines. I had a bad fit. Yes your BP is high, but it is really up to you what you do. Propanolol is a beta-blocker to slow heart rate. I found once my anti-depressant (Effexor) kicked in, I did not need the Propanolol. I just took it for a short time.
880512 tn?1249085122 We use hydroxyzine at the hospital more frequently for preoperative sedation and postoperative nausea than as an antianxiety med. It IS classified as an antianxiety medication, more commonly known as Atarax, but it's just not a usual "first-line" choice for most doctors. Nothing wrong with it........if it's helping. If it's not, don't hesitate to ask your doctor for something else.
Avatar n tn Patients treated with alprazolam or other benzodiazepines for generalized anxiety disorder were found when abruptly discontinuing their medication to experience withdrawal symptoms such as a worsening of anxiety, as well as the development of physical withdrawal symptoms. Patients taking a dosing regimen larger than 4 mg per day have an increased potential for dependence. This medication may cause withdrawal symptoms, which in some cases have been known to cause seizures.
Avatar m tn I suffer from Panic Disorder and Generalised Anxiety and took them for panic attacks. They completely stopped the attacks (I only took one when I felt an attack coming on) and I was only on 2mg which I believe is the lowest dose. Anyway, I saw a different GP to the one who prescribed me Diazepam and she said that I can't have anymore. I know they're notorious for being addictive, but surely if I'm just taking them when I need them, there can't be any real risk?
Avatar n tn After leaving the hospital another pyschiatrist prescribed me adderrall once again. My mother during the time was very against ADD medication and would no longer pay for me to get it. While I was on the medication I saw huge improvement and even was able to work. Now at 21 and jobless living with my mother she has agreed that the adderrall was beneficial and that I should make another appt to try and get back on it. My question is will a doctor prescribe it to me again?
Avatar f tn Is this a prescription you are trying to fill by phone? If it's a med you've been taking, there's no reason to see the physician in person. Is there something in the medication that might harm you if you have covid? I can see, for example, that a doc might be wary of blood thinning meds, and there are a ton of supplements, foods, and drugs that have some effect on that, for someone with covid and its clotting action. Did you ask why?
Avatar f tn Some of these women need to do research because if you stop taking this medicine and have been on it a while... one of the withdraw symptoms is seizures and how do you think that will effect your baby... they have not studied this medication on pregnant women yet but they are trying to gather information now on it. It is deemed unsafe because of the class drug it is and some others in that class have been studied and proven harmful.
Avatar m tn None of us want to take medication, but for many, it has given us our life back. Anxiety is like any other medical condition requiring medication to control the symptoms. If you were told you had diabetes you wouldn't think twice about taking the necessary medication(s), anxiety is not different. You can try therapy which can be a lengthy process, and often the medication is needed during this time. You can safely wean off benzos under the guidance of your psychiatrist.
1719918 tn?1309297630 This is strictly advice but I would not recommend that you take any sort of Anxiety or Anti-depressant. I suffer from Anxiety/panic attacks and am convinced that there must be another or natural way of relieving it. I weined off xanax and fighting it right now because you become MAJORYLY dependant on it. It's hell brother! (& dangerous too!). I feel like I'm going to die and would never recommend anybody to consume a Benzo. Anne is right about the anti-depressants too...
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the Anxiety Community! How long have you been on the Ativan and how do you take it? Do you take it regularly every day or just "as needed"? That makes a big difference in the effectiveness. Short acting benzos like Ativan are best taken "as needed" as a rescue drug or for a short period of time. The longer one takes it regularly, a tolerance builds where it becomes less effective. It is certainly worth discussing with your doctor,.
Avatar m tn I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course. I've been reading online that Zoloft and Metoprolol can interact together in a dangerous way. I am sure my doctor knew this, so I am wondering why I was given this combination?
Avatar f tn m guessing therefore that what you mean is, can one live with anxiety without taking medication or alternatively are there other ways of treating anxiety than medication. The answer to both is yes, but that doesn't mean that will work for you. Medication doesn't ever cure anxiety, it just makes it easier to live with. The first consideration is how severe your problem is. If you're able to function okay but want a better life, you don't need medication.
Avatar f tn This is the first time I have ever lost my anxiety medication. I suffer from PTSD and have a high level of anxiety. My fiance is pregnant and I am looking for a new job, which will require us to move. Finances are also tight at the moment. This is causing an increased level of anxiety and I desperately need my medication in order to relax and sleep without thrashing.
Avatar f tn The only big big problem I have is my crazy anxiety. I had a bad past two years which led me to the prescription of Vicodin which led to addiction. Yes , I am getting my pills prescribed, I need to stop but I feel so crummy when I do and crummy if I don't. Now that I'm pregnant, my anxiety has went from manageable to OMG am I killing our child. I hear worse stories and in tapering down now to 5/day at 5 weeks but each day is a struggle!
Avatar f tn While I am a proponent of medication, in my opinon, the best results are achieved with medication when you include counseling so you can confront and deal with the anxiety in the long term. I look at medicaiton as a useful tool in confronting your anxiety. While it is not a 'cure all,' it has helped me tremendously.
Avatar n tn I had anxiety before going to bed so I took ativan. I also took my seroquel and trazodone. Will I be ok?
Avatar f tn I've been suffering from social anxiety for the last two months now. Every time I try to go out in public I get very dizzy and I get hot flashes. I've also been experiencing other symptoms at home such as palpitations, hot/cold flashes, fear of dying out of nowhere, constant worry of being okay, and many others. My doctor gave me a prescription for Citalopram 10mg a few weeks ago. I took the medicine for 3 days and I was experiencing loss of appetite, constipation, and dizziness.
1497650 tn?1289233125 ve been on various anxiety and depression meds, but all made me feel like a zombie. They made me super tired all the time. Anxiety medication only seems to sedate you so much that there doesn't seem to be a thought going on in your head! Clonazepam is the only medication that I took that I can remember the name of (that right there tells you how sedated the meds made me!) Are there any anxiety medications that don't turn you into a zombie? Any you'd recommend?
612551 tn?1450022175 When we picked up the prescription it cost $1,290.00 Wow, looking into the issue I see the medication is listed at over 1,600 for 90 pills, or over $18 per pill. This is enough to cause anxiety by itself. We paid our $1,250 plus our per prescription copay of $40. Happily we will pay only the copay for future refills this calendar year. These numbers are not exact, I don't remember the exact change and resolution between the $1,290 and the list price.
