Avatar n tn I am 54 years old and having a difficult time losing weight. During the past 8-9 months, I have not been able to continue my typical exercise regimen due to knee pain and surgery. As a result, I have gained the nine pounds I lost and added 7 more.Approximately two weeks ago, I started to exercise again, managing to workout four days each week, although no change in weight. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn m just worried about losing the weight, my other family members really had a hard time losing it and some never did. Do genes really play and big part in it, or is it dependent on whether I get off my booty and terms I have the baby or not?
Avatar f tn I've been doing the c25k app. My first week I've been having to walk 4 minutes for a warm up then I jog for 60 seconds and walk for 90 seconds then keep doing that for 20 minutes. Well I haven't been able to do that for 20 minutes yet because Im overweight Im like 313 pounds. I can only go 16 minutes without stopping. But I noticed that when. I'm done my shins will hurt so bad. I don't have the proper running shoes but idk if that would have anything to do with it or not.
Avatar f tn For losing weight the most effective way is to sprint for about 30seconds then jog for 30seconds and keep this going for about half an hour
Avatar n tn If you are overweight, losing weight can help lessen your heel pain. If your job involves standing on a hard floor or standing in one spot for long periods, place some type of padding on the floor. Answers to the following questions would make the picture clearer, What is your age? Since how long you have been having this pain? Do you suffer from diabetics? Do you have to stand long during the day? Whats your weight? Are you obese?
Avatar f tn Have you thought of keeping a food journal, if even for a couple of weeks, to make sure your getting enough calories and the right kinds of foods? You could also measure yourself to see if your losing inches instead of weight. Don't forget even if you know what your doing your body sometimes takes a little longer to figure it out. Don't stop what your doing.
Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
15695260 tn?1549593113 As someone who has consistently run about 30 to 50 miles a week for the past 17-18 years (recently it is 60 miles plus for marathon training), I have gone through a lot of running shoes.
Avatar f tn Hi there, You say you're 130 lbs and you want to lose 20 lbs. So , basically you want to be 110 lbs. It 's a good idea to make an appointment with your family doctor before you start a diet. Two pounds per week is a good amount of weight to lose per week. Perhaps your doctor can give you some ideas for a new healthy food plan. Chips are basically salt and fat and have no nutritional value and no place in a diet where you want to lose weight. You say you don't want to exercise.
Avatar m tn l am wondering if you have any advice on how to make it better, is losing weight the only way that will cure the problem, could my weight have casued permanent damage and the pain will be there for life?
Avatar f tn First if your body is not getting enough foods it can easily go into starvation mode and decide to hold or even gain weight. 1200 calories seems very low, especially given how much you exercise. So maybe you should keep your food around 1300 at minimum? It's hard to know the "sweet" spot that will keep your body healthy while loosing weight, but if you don't find it you will have a really hard time loosing weight.
Avatar f tn If you're hiking on mountain trails, and you don't say if you are, hiking boots are made for that. Today's light-weight hiking boots are really running shoes inside a firm support shoe for the bends and creases of mountain hiking. Aside from that, if you don't have shin splits -- if you do, you have to deal with that before doing anything else -- are you stretching at all? You might be very tight, which makes it harder to do new things.
Avatar f tn -running or even fast walking (NO WALKING) for about 30min each day is really helpful (fast walking actually burns alot more calories than running and works you out more) With running or fast walking, make sure you move your arms alot. -50-100squats each day will definitely tone your legs and hips -Horizontal bicycle or situps workout your stomach (I personally find that horizontal bicycles work me out more than situps) Sooo yuup!!
Avatar n tn I have been doing weight watchers for over eight months and I have hit a pleateu, so I started running for 30-45 minutes 5 days a week and instead of losing weight I started gaining weight. Any suggestions?
1066531 tn?1254969334 I’ve been working out for many years now, and i want to know how I can tone my body better without losing a large portion of weight, mostly my chest and midsection? I’m 6ft 198lbs I would like to be around 195 but in much better “shape”. My diet ***** and i’m trying to work on it, but I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week lifting weights and running. I dont run a whole bunch though, would that help my problem or will that just make me lose wieght?
Avatar n tn run at 6mph for 2 minutes then run at 3mph or rest for 2 minutes) will be more effective in losing weight than if I ran or walked at a steady pace.Is there any truth to this>?
Avatar f tn Other than these suggestions, barring other implications, short of lessening the load by standing less and losing weight, there's little medicine can offer for your (suspected) issues. I hope this helps. Niko .

Avatar n tn I would recommend first losing your weight and then wearing the right kind of shoes to prevent further injury of Metatarsalgia. Runners can get more information at http://www.runnersworld.com/injury-prevention-recovery/metatarsalgia on how to prevent metatarsalgia.
Avatar m tn Streach your legs both before and after running. Have you lost a lot of weight recently? Loosing weight can SOMETIMES cause bone strenghth to be lost. Also staying hydrated will help with the tight feeling. I had this feeling lately too but I got weird legs and feet so I should always take more care to them. If you want to do a sport that won't put much pressure to almost no prussure on your joints and bones, swimming. But do what you like best. Yes a good pair of shoes will deffently help.
1467664 tn?1288579313 m 5/5)and at one point was 81 pounds(yuck) I lookwd gross and felt worse.but in answer to losing weight the healthy way and not only am I a type 1 I also am a personal trainer.Timing meals ,excercise and insulin are important.Cutting out carb stotally is not a good idea because your body does need the enrgy especially when you are workinh out.Not sure what dose you are on but once you start a workout plan you will see your needs decrease .
Avatar f tn You also have to be careful because of your current weight. Too much running at your current weight would put a strain on your heart, your legs, your back. I advise you to make an appointment with your family doctor and see what advice she or he can give you with regards to losing weight safely. Please seek medical advice. You also have to be careful not to lose the weight too quickly as this can cause other health issues for you. Good luck with your new food plan.
