And this weight tracker thing says I have to eat around 1200 calories in every day, isn't that a little bit too little? Or is that right? And a side note, I have an injury that doesn't allow me to do any high impact sport, including running, any helpful tips?

Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
Avatar f tn I agree with keeping a food diary - that will help you see where your calories are coming from and what areas you might need to increase of decrease. Make sure you get plenty of produce, both fruits and veggies; lean protein, low/no fat dairy, whole grains and "good" fats. Sometimes, we cut our calories TOO much and our body goes into starvation mode in order to hang onto fat reserves, so make sure you are eating enough calories.

My portions I guess are still kinda big. And love handles and big stomach are an issue. Any tips, healthy foods, drinks, workouts that I should be doing. I'm not in any sports but I like running, so would running just be the best answer. Running, and cardio workouts?
Avatar f tn Let your body fully recover first. And my thing was running. I run almost every night and lost the weight in a cpl months. but you have to eat right also. having a new born sometimes its just easier to go out and get something. One of my tricks was to make enough food so u have left overs and planning everything in advance.
Avatar f tn First if your body is not getting enough foods it can easily go into starvation mode and decide to hold or even gain weight. 1200 calories seems very low, especially given how much you exercise. So maybe you should keep your food around 1300 at minimum? It's hard to know the "sweet" spot that will keep your body healthy while loosing weight, but if you don't find it you will have a really hard time loosing weight.

Avatar f tn Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase .....

I’m 6ft 198lbs I would like to be around 195 but in much better “shape”. My diet ***** and i’m trying to work on it, but I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week lifting weights and running. Avatar f tn You do need to be sure to mix up your exercise, though and not just do one thing. Be sure to add weight training with your cardio (running), since weight training is what builds muscle. You can do weight training using light hand weights, or if you don't have any, use your own body weight. Check out YouTube for examples.

1467664 tn?1288579313 m 5/5)and at one point was 81 pounds(yuck) I lookwd gross and felt worse.but in answer to losing weight the healthy way and not only am I a type 1 I also am a personal trainer.Timing meals ,excercise and insulin are important.Cutting out carb stotally is not a good idea because your body does need the enrgy especially when you are workinh out.Not sure what dose you are on but once you start a workout plan you will see your needs decrease .
Avatar f tn t have hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, etc, as these can all make losing weight more difficult, as well as causing aches/pains by themselves. I totally agree that you need to opt for low impact exercise, such as swimming, water aerobics, yoga, etc. Once you start losing some weight, you should see some of the pains diminish.

In fact, Exercise Physiologist James Hill in Denver, has found that those who lose 50 # and who keep it off over 2 years are different than those who don't keep it off do so only by virtue of daily exercise - and for most that daily exercise is walking - about 45-60 minutes daily.
