Avatar n tn Track and record your weight each week to see your progress. Losing 1 to 2 lbs. per week is recognized as being a healthy, sustainable rate of weight loss. One pound is equivalent to about 3,500 calories, so if you burn 500 more calories than you consume each day, you will lose about 1 lb. in a week. Follow a regular running program of 20-minute jogging sessions. The amount of calories that you burn each session depends on your weight and running speed.
Avatar n tn At the very least, you will be a healthier you even if weight loss does not happen. Good luck! Losing weight is hard at any age.

Avatar n tn I know the feeling. There is always a tomorrow or next week when it comes to proactively losing weight. And if I feel overweight then yes I want the weight gone yesterday. Some advice. Don't drop the weight quickly, this is rarely a long-term solution. If I took time and had the mental discipline I could have lost weight many times over. Do it once, do it right. Issues with weight and body image are taxing (emotionally, physically and financially) and demoralizing.
Avatar f tn I would like to drop my weight down to 50 or 55. Is that an unhealthy weight? And this weight tracker thing says I have to eat around 1200 calories in every day, isn't that a little bit too little? Or is that right? And a side note, I have an injury that doesn't allow me to do any high impact sport, including running, any helpful tips?
Avatar f tn Eat more vegetables and fruit and small amounts of lean meat/fish/poultry, reducing calories sensibly. Then exercise - climb stairs, dance, do yard work, do yoga, pilates, lift free weights. You will tone up an lose weight.
Avatar f tn Heyy everyone I am a 23 yeas old and I am havering trouble losing weight I have been very over weight for some years now I started gaining my weight because of the medication I take but I no longer take then I had been on them for a while but not anymore. The the weight has stayed on over the years. I am desperately trying to loose weight but excercising is hard for me. Any ideas of what to eat? How to go about losing weight? How to eat healthy?
Avatar f tn Too many things going on here for us to be of much help. When you increase exercise, you have to eat more, not less. Weight isn't a function of calories as much as it is how your digestive system processes food -- how quickly it metabolizes into sugar and how efficiently you digest it (constipation suggests a problem here). And you're always going to plateau -- nobody keeps losing weight forever or they'd die.
Avatar f tn For losing weight the most effective way is to sprint for about 30seconds then jog for 30seconds and keep this going for about half an hour
Avatar f tn Losing weight quickly is never good and causes yo yo effects. Regardless to one of the comments earlier swimming is the number 1 best over all total body work out. Have you ever seen a fat swimmer??? No. As for losing 5 lbs in one week that is probably mostly water weight and not actual fat loss. You need to find your calorie maintenance number and shoot to be calorie deficient by no more that 500 to get the body to lose weight healthily.
Avatar f tn Have you thought of keeping a food journal, if even for a couple of weeks, to make sure your getting enough calories and the right kinds of foods? You could also measure yourself to see if your losing inches instead of weight. Don't forget even if you know what your doing your body sometimes takes a little longer to figure it out. Don't stop what your doing.
Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
Avatar m tn A good dietary regime and exercises all will be helpful in losing weight. Losing weight in a healthy way is important for maintaining the glow of your skin. Eat lots of fruits, dark green leafy vegetables, fruits and consume less of potato, sweetened and processed foods. Start your day by drinking lemon juice in warm water. Have fruits with lots of vitamin C in breakfast that will help you cut fats as vitamin C is a fat burner. Exercise daily for 30-40 minutes like walking or aerobic exercise.

Avatar f tn Dear Need Help losing Weight, Did you MD advise you to lose 53 pounds? Are you at risk? If this is a personal decision based on appearance, the first thing to do is analyze your food intake. You said you're busy with college. Does that mean you eat hamburgers & French fries ? Buy a bag of apples. Throw 3 or 4 in your backpack. They are better for you, but remember all food has calories. Each large apple has about 100 calories.
Avatar f tn First if your body is not getting enough foods it can easily go into starvation mode and decide to hold or even gain weight. 1200 calories seems very low, especially given how much you exercise. So maybe you should keep your food around 1300 at minimum? It's hard to know the "sweet" spot that will keep your body healthy while loosing weight, but if you don't find it you will have a really hard time loosing weight.
Avatar m tn Also, if you have hypothyroidism or adrenal gland problems or diabetes, then also, you may find losing weight difficult. Hence, if you are not losing weight, you need to find out whether you suffer from any of these. I suggest you eat frequent small meals and stop counting calories. It is best to eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake (lean cuts, whites of eggs etc).
Avatar f tn Losing 5 pounds in month is a realistic and healthy way of losing weight. A good dietary regime and exercise will help you in achieving your goal. Drink lots of water every day. Drinking water helps you feel full and also flushes out fluid from your kidneys, which may reduce bloating. Avoid eating salty fast foods, candies and cut down on at least 500 calories per day. Avoid intake of hidden calories in salad dressings, cheese, butter etc.
558632 tn?1303471125 had to stop exercising do to severe back pain, i think it is good enough to start at least walking, i think the running is out of the question, i bend over, turnover in bed, climb stairs etc... so walking it will have to be.
Avatar f tn I hurts me going up and down the stairs too. But i do it anyways. I was pretty active before I got pregnant so i try to stay that way plus it's better for delivery. I walk to the store, park, around the neighborhood and sometimes am pushing myself with each step. My daughter needs some fresh air and play time out doors before it gets cold. She's 1 1/2 so we be running.
