Just do what you like, both are good exercise, but running fast gets the work done more quickly if time is a factor. For me, I always liked running when I was still able to run and had no desire to get it over with too quickly, but for performance training, sprinting will make you stronger and more athletic overall.

Avatar f tn It would be good for weight loss if you team up the jump rope cardio with some toning weight lifting exercises, for all your muscles. Toning is awesome, it will tighten your muscles to make you appear thinner, and in lots of light repetitions it is just like cardio. For toning you shouldn't lift more than 10 pounds, and even then 10 pounds is kind of heavy.
Avatar f tn Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase exercise to use an additional 250 calories. Changing up calorie counts and exercises will help prevent plateau.
Avatar f tn -running or even fast walking (NO WALKING) for about 30min each day is really helpful (fast walking actually burns alot more calories than running and works you out more) With running or fast walking, make sure you move your arms alot. -50-100squats each day will definitely tone your legs and hips -Horizontal bicycle or situps workout your stomach (I personally find that horizontal bicycles work me out more than situps) Sooo yuup!!
699217 tn?1323438700 I start eating less, but what I do eat is not as good for me.. anyway, what works for me is walking (and jogging but walking is better). I walk/jog about 4-5 miles per day (Ive incorporated it into my commute to work each day). Just walking though is GREAT exercise. And if you find a nice place to walk, it can be fun too... and very therapeutic.. its the only time in my whole day that is MY time. I walk/jog early in the morning, right around sunrise.

Have you thought of keeping a food journal, if even for a couple of weeks, to make sure your getting enough calories and the right kinds of foods? You could also measure yourself to see if your losing inches instead of weight. Don't forget even if you know what your doing your body sometimes takes a little longer to figure it out. Don't stop what your doing.
1494585 tn?1288728536 you should start off with walking at least 30 minutes a day for exercise if your not used to exercising. also exercise isn't enough to lose weight, you have to making better eating choices, i know its hard i myself am trying to lose weight and have been eating healthier chocies and it hasn't even been 2 weeks yet and i'm starting to notice a difference already, i am still trying to find the motivation to get my self up and exercising at least 30 minutes a day.

When running or walking tense your stomach, walking or running is great excercise but tensing the stomach muscles adds a whole new element to it and will tone you up. Sometimes for tone to appear on our stomachs we have to lose weight first. I invested in underwear/support wear to define and sculp the figure, especially your stomach and sides, and it makes me feel a lot better about going on nights out ect.

Avatar f tn I am convinced that the jalapinos help in digestion and weight loss...( that is strictly my own opinion... for what ever its worth)I also make a salad dressing out of 1/2 of a small avocado, I add some 1% butter milk, a little juice off of the green olives, a little garlic and onion powder.. mix it all up..its pretty good..I will also have a small baked potato, and maybe a half cup of pinto beans or peas of some sort to get my daily protein.
