When you’re shopping for this whole grain, whether you see the word “whole” or not doesn’t matter, the way it does with wheat products. Oats in the ingredients list means the product is made from whole oats. But if you are buying something like instant oatmeal, avoid those that contain high-fructose corn syrup.

Avatar f tn And if you're intolerant, you're reactive to what, barley and rye - and in some people they also react to oats - either the component in the oats that is similar to gluten, or the oats are typically contaminated in transport. I'm sorry to be so blunt about it, but my husband is celiac and I've watched what he's gone through and it's no fun. Lack of energy, when he used to eat anything with gluten he'd get so tired that if he didn't lay down he'd fall down.

They are prone to be cross-contaminated with gluten if the oats are grown anywhere near grains that contain gluten. Celiacs also have to be concerned with oats that are not certified as gluten free.
Avatar m tn So maybe sunflower seeds are good alternative, and also with each serving, try sprinkling dry, uncooked, raw oats per meal. DON'T add the rolled raw oats INITIALLY and refrigerate in salad mix--the liquid will cause the oats to get gooey and alter the taste to make your "fruit salad" taste chalky. I hope this helps. Sugary cereals make for a raw, weak internal feeling, and for looser stools I think.

I munch on almonds and dried cranberries for a pick me up, along with veggie juice, etc etc...what I mean is, it's all relative...what's moderation to me is not what is moderation to somebody else, some people here might think I'm too cautious, others might think I eat too many bad things relative to the good things and...
Avatar f tn My favorite way to have oatmeal is to cook some plain steel cut oats (WAY more filling than mushy quick cook oats) with a little vanilla extract and then mix in some unsweetened cocoa powder, walnuts and fresh berries.

393685 tn?1425816122 In our lifestyle, that is not such a healthy thing. How to get the healthy balance? Lots of awareness, keeping a food journal (as I did and was amazed at the extra calories I didn't realise were in so called healthy low fat foods!), working on what makes you feel crud, or good. Every body is different. My body is not the same as your body which is not the same as my neighbours body. Not becoming complacent is another issue. I lapse every so often but pay the price. I am human after all!
670955 tn?1226601500 I'm guessing this might've stemmed from a previous heart condition that we were unaware of. He's always been healthy, so very healthy and so active. He's is an outside dog (He's a 110 lb German Shepard with a strong "aversion" toward our inside kitty LOL or he'd be my inside buddy) so he's got the run of our fairly large fenced backyard. So this kinda came as a shock.
Avatar n tn It has very healthy fat and many great nutrients. During tx we need to eat healthy whole foods and this fits the bill. Nutritional info below. Avatar n tn It seems like when I take those pills, my skin overall has a better appearance and is more clear and healthy looking (contrary to how it sounds on this thread, I actually have really clear/nice skin :-). I also noticed that it seems to cut down on the red bumps I get on my thighs once in a while. The bumps on my thighs are something I have had ever since I was a kid (on and off). They are different than the bumps on my eyes however.
Avatar n tn Also, I take care of healthy patients to keep them healthy longer. It is called prevention and wellness. I removed ALL gluten from my diet..wheat , barley, oats (it is in everything)...within a few weeks i felt so much better. And now, a year later, my liver enzymes are all back to iron levels are normal. I think it was the gluten all along. Most people with gluten sensitivities dont handle dairy well either.

Avatar n tn I have had the same problem for years! And I take really good care of myself, I eat healthy, take vitamins, workout regularly, nothing helps. I now have a little one, which makes it harder to feel this way and take care of him. The only thing that helped me was to be on birth control, it relieved me of the sore throat, and all that cold/flu like crap, it even really lightened my flow, but I hate being on it so I haven't gone back to it just yet.
Avatar n tn 5) An improper diet, which probably includes many of the items noted above, along with a lot of baked goods, sodas and candies, and a lack of consistent aerobic exercise, will most likely not help any reported problems. Now, as much as everyone would love a quick fix to all of their problems, change is something that happens gradually.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have done a lot to control or get rid of the hives, but I don't hear anything about finding the cause of the hives. Hives are generally caused by something you are eating. You can see an allergist to get tested, or you can remove one food or food group out of the diet for at least 2 weeks and see if that helps get rid of the hives. A food group in this instance means "wheat", "rice" or "oats" products.
Avatar n tn A healthy lifestyle is what is important. If you have a healthy lifestyle, are active, have a good BP, blood sugar etc etc and you are at a steady are at a healthy weight. That is my non medical background but well researched opinion!
Avatar n tn I personally have been suffering from this for almost 10 years now. I am a healthy 25 year old female with no children. My biggest health problem is the fact that I have Psoriasis. The only area that affects however is my scalp, I have had no problems elsewhere. When this problem first occurred I had no idea of what it could be. I was a teenager and my parents looked at me like I was insane. I went to the Dr.

Avatar f tn 1) I make a base using Triple antibiotic ointment, mostly because it is the consistency of vaseline and I don't have any vaseline. Any really thick ointment will work. Squirt a 2 inch blob or so into into a small dish. (smothers the eggs which require oxygen; also smothers their parents) 2) Add 4 or 5 drops of clove oil. (kills the eggs) 3) Add 3 or 4 drops of iodine. (kills the eggs) 4) Add a few drops of Neem oil.
