Common Questions and Answers about Glucose blood test levels

107693 tn?1252868043 My husband last A1C was 6.2 . My question is, why is that his blood glucose is high upon waking up. It is 130 than he has breakfast and works out. So about four hours later the blood glucose level are in the 80's.
Avatar f tn I asked the nurse if everything was alright and was told that my blood glucose levels were somewhat higher than normal but would have to wait a week to talk with the doctor. I am very concerned and slightly anxious. Does this mean that I could have diabetes? I am somewhat overweight but have been trying to lose the pounds. My blood pressure was fine when the doctor checked 110/70.
Avatar f tn Ok, let's start out with your glucose test, it isn't a test you can pass or fail. It just means your body isn't making enough insulin to control your sugar. Number 2 you poke your finger or arm squeeze area until you have a drop of blood. Put the strip in the meter let it read it then when it tells you to you touch the test end to the blood it will soak some of it up begin to test it and beep when it's done. Wipe away excess blood with a alcohol pad. It's nothing.
1461994 tn?1285900732 Hi there, Why would you think you’re at risk for diabetes? The reference range for fasting blood glucose is <99, I believe. Occasional increases are to be expected; prediabetes isn’t suspected until several fasting BG tests are between 100 and 125. Fatigue is very common with HV therapy; don’t be surprised if you sleep much more than you’re accustomed to. You do want to keep an eye on hemoglobin, as well as white blood cells (absolute neutrophils, actually) and platelets.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar f tn Ok so I failed my one hr glucose test. I attempted my three hr one but after the first hour it all came right back up and my face was really broke out for two days. So now they want me to take it again. What if it comes back up. I'm almost 32 wks and I just feel like they should give up already or find another solution.
415867 tn?1323369103 I think they are affiliated in that when your glucose levels are high you are susceptible to insulin resistance which is why many women who have PCOS are at risk of getting diabetes. It is the insulin resistance that I think has an affect on the other hormone levels.
Avatar f tn In going for my glucose test tomorrow and I was wondering if it was OK to eat before the test or not. I have heard it was ok but I have also heard that you shouldn't because it will mess the test up. What should I do?
1538488 tn?1331486905 Your 8-10 hour fasting levels indicate prediabetes yet your A1c averages 205 mg/dl daily - high diabetic glucose levels. Where were these test performed? Same blood draw? What does b/f mean? Please don't make up medical acronyms that only you understand. Testing directly after exercising provides a false positive. Brisk exercise perks your adrenaline which in turn tells your body to produce more glucose for energy. Exercise after eating, not before. Test before and 1 hour after exercising.
Avatar n tn I just had a fasting blood glucose test taken. It was 104. I know 126 and up is Type II Diabetes. Should I be concerned with this number?
Avatar m tn I have just starting testing my blood glucose Do I need to test every day or weekly ?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info and timely response.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am very concerned about my blood glucose levels. I am diabetic and I haven't been keeping track of my blood glucose levels for years. For the last month or so, I had been feeling totally exhausted, falling asleep at the computer, several times I actually fell asleep with food in my mouth that I hadn't chewed. I was weak and out of breath and could barely walk without getting winded.
Avatar f tn So I had my glucose test and it came back my high so now I gotta prick my self ever day :(
Avatar f tn What happens at a glucose screening test? and how do I know if something's wrong?
Avatar n tn I had a sugar level of 146 on my first glucose test. My doctor had me take the 3 hour test and had levels of 167 fasting...154 first hour and 83 second hour. Supposedly they didn't take enough blood for the third hour. I have an extreme fear of needles. I was sick for an hour throwing up after the first hour test and threw up after the first hour on the 3 hour test. Do the numbers for the 3 hour test seem legit?
Avatar f tn they take your blood a total of 4 times... you have to fast until the test and they take it for fasting levels... then you drink the drink within 5 minutes and every hour up until 3 they take your blood... if you fail 2 or more of those blood sugar levels you have gestational diabetes. ..
Avatar f tn But I hadn't done any other one except for the screening test a while ago so idk if they checked that one for blood sugar levels i dunno still doesn't really make sense to me
7159675 tn?1397445807 I just took mine yesterday. She drew my blood. I drank some Gatorade flavored drink waited an hour and then she drew my blood again. And that was that. The only bad part is not being able to eat or drink for an hour. I figured if I take it in the morning I'd be good. But because I just woke up and went straight to the doc time I was seen I was weak and dehydrated and took forever to get a vein. o I recommend you eat first then wait awhile before you go get the test.
Avatar f tn That would involve a very strict no-sugar diet and weekly blood tests through finger prick to monitor your blood sugar levels. If you're asking can you just ignore failing the first test and go on as before, no, that's not a good idea.
10798067 tn?1431554033 They will draw some blood, like a normal Blood test. Then you'll have to drink a sort of juice, which is a glucose solution. Then you'll have to wait for an hour and they'll draw blood again. And that's it.
7566904 tn?1394767578 Can I eat some cookies tonight. My glucose test is tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I have my glucose test on Tuesday, eek. Any advice on how I can pass this and not have to do the 3 hr test? I'll try not to eat any sweets Monday and Tuesday but this baby has me craving shakes like a mad woman!
