Avatar n tn Hello, I'm a volunteer and not a medical professional so please check with your doctor to address any concerns you have regarding your particular condition. With that said, below is an excerpt from the Virginia Mason clinic website: https://www.virginiamason.org/body.cfm?id=511 which states the norms for blood sugar levels: "A fasting blood glucose test. This test is performed after you have fasted (no food or liquids other than water) for eight hours.

Avatar n tn My hemoglobin A1c was slightly over the upper normal range as was my cholesterol. My Dr gave me a glucose monitor and prescriptions for Metformin (250 mg per day) and Crestor. I will start the meds tomorrow but I did check my blood today - it was 81 before breakfast and 95 after dinner. Aren't those normal ranges ? And what should I expect once I start taking the meds? Thanks for any feedback.

143123 tn?1274304425 Shows that my glucose is normal, but my insulin is high. I've never had issues with this and the nurse told me "there's a first time for everything"...which didn't sit well with me, but that's beside the point. They told me I have to exercise more, eat healthier (which isn't a problem, because my husband is a Type I diabetic, so we eat healthy), and start taking Glucophage (Generic Name: Metformin).
Avatar m tn Had a protein bar at dinner. I think this caused a higher than normal reading.
Avatar m tn Your fasting glucose is totally normal. What did you eat? If you ate a high carb meal, then your 1 and 2 hour results are quite normal. If you ate a low carb meal, then your results might be considered slightly high. Anyway, if you are concerned about diabetes, the best way to prevent it is by eliminating sugars and processed foods, and reducing carbs overall. You are not diabetic considering these reported levels.
107693 tn?1252868043 My husband last was A1C 6.2 . My question is, why is that his blood glucose is high upon waking up. It is 130 than he has breakfast and works out. So about four hours later the blood glucose level are in the 80's.
Avatar n tn I have undergone several tests to find the root of my fatigue. Sleep test ruled out sleep apnea. Most blood tests are normal. One thyroid test pointed to the pituitary: TSH was not raised (0.86 mIU/L) in conjunction with a low FT4 (8.2 pmol/L). ACTH, prolactin, FSH & LH tests at that time were normal so my doc didn't follow up. B12 & ferritin have both been low in the past, but supplementation didn't help my morning exhaustion.
1813627 tn?1337725975 a blood glucose test is normal when you first see the doctor around 8 to 10 weeks if your doctor thinks you have a risk factors for gestational diabetes such as being overweight. I am overweight and the doctor does 1 for me at 8 weeks and then again later on at the normal time. also your number could have been high if you didn't fast the night before.
Avatar n tn two, I would get an A1c test to verify normal glucose level. If the A1c results are normal, don't fret anymore.
Avatar f tn I went to the emergencyroom back in march. They did blood tests and my glucose was 104 which they considered high(normal being up to 99) They never said anything to me about this and as far as I know, I have never had this before. I had to go to the emergency room again last month and again, they did blood work. My glucose level was only 88. I am just wondering if I should be looking into this. Could I be diabetic? They never said anything about the high level.

Avatar f tn I asked the nurse if everything was alright and was told that my blood glucose levels were somewhat higher than normal but would have to wait a week to talk with the doctor. I am very concerned and slightly anxious. Does this mean that I could have diabetes? I am somewhat overweight but have been trying to lose the pounds. My blood pressure was fine when the doctor checked 110/70.
Avatar m tn I'm 29 years old, male and just received the following 2 blood tests: Fasting glucose 80 HBA1C 7.0% Fructosamine 0.8mmol/l (ranges 1.50-2.70) Does the low fructosamine value means that I could be suffering from hypoglycemia? Does the HBA1C is within range? I'm currently taking Elavil and don't know if this drug can affect the values from the blood tests. Help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn and the prednisone actually raising or lowering the blood glucose because then it is high or low and those numbers will effect you. Does that make sense? What I do know is that if those are accurate readings, you may no longer be pre-diabetes but may have diabetes. What is your A1C? What do you do to treat your pre-diabetes; what is important is to lose weight if you need to, lower carb intake and get regular exercise. 215 is definitely in the zone where complications begin to form.
Avatar f tn But now we have observe that his blood glucose drop down, so we reduced insulin into 0.5ml, and still his blood glucose drop into 118-140, now we are confused if he still needed the insulin or we have to totally stop it. Hope anyone can give us advised. thanks and more power!
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, I am a dietetic student who just finished working at a camp for children with type 1 diabetes. As part of the staff we were all given blood glucose monitors to help check the kids (even though I don't have diabetes). We were allowed to keep the monitors and I have been doing some random blood glucose checks on myself when I am not feeling well to help myself better understand lows.
Avatar n tn on a Saturday. I had eaten breakfast only about an hour before, maybe up to two hours. My blood glucose was 61. I guess I have two questions. The first is whether I should get tested for anything like adrenal deficiencies or something else? The second pertains to diet. The advice I've gotten from those close to me is to eat protein, try to limit carbs, definitely keep sugar intake as low as possible.
Avatar f tn I just got home from by blood glucose test and feel really sick and tired. Is this normal? Does it mean something is wrong?
