Avatar m tn ESR is age related. Normal range for men under 50 years old= less than 15 mm/hr, so you are above that. There can be many causes for the elevation like anemia, kidney disease, thyroid disease, but also an infection.
Avatar n tn In the event that you had a fasting blood glucose test, a dimension somewhere in the range of 70 and 100 mg/dL (3.9 and 5.6 mmol/L) is viewed as ordinary. In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
Avatar f tn Does a persons age play a factor for their "normal" fasting glucose range? During my last visit to my 82 yo mother, I happened to see her test results that showed her fasting glucose range topping out at 180 mg. I, on the other hand, being 60 yo & under immunosuppressant meds have a range from 50 - 150 mg, yet I constantly hear the normal range is 70 - 120. Both of our blood samples are tested at the same lab too. So what is the "normal" fasting glucose range?
Avatar n tn If your insulin was a lot higher than normal but your blood glucose was in the normal range, it means that your pancreas is having to produce large amounts of insulin to keep your blood sugar down. So, yes, your are insulin resistant, even though you are technically not a diabetic. Insulin resistance suggests that you are developing Type 2 diabetes, even though your blood sugar levels are within the normal range. The experts are not sure what causes insuli reistance.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the info and timely response.
Avatar f tn As part of the blood tests I had it show hemoglobin as part of my CBC which was in normal range. Do you know if this is the same as an A1c test?
Avatar n tn Please help. My daughter is 3 months old. When she was three weeks she was hospitalized because her soft spot was full, and she was lathargic and dehydrated. Since then she has been hospitalized several times for dehydration. The doctors have run blood tests and they did a spinal tap, and found nothing. Her sugar levels were at 107 four hours after eating and the doctor told me to take her for a glucose test, however the endocrnologist said that 107 was normal and wouldn't do the test.
1813627 tn?1337722375 a blood glucose test is normal when you first see the doctor around 8 to 10 weeks if your doctor thinks you have a risk factors for gestational diabetes such as being overweight. I am overweight and the doctor does 1 for me at 8 weeks and then again later on at the normal time. also your number could have been high if you didn't fast the night before.
Avatar n tn The range of 70-126 is considered normal before eating a meal, or as a fasting glucose level. So although the one test at slightly above 200 does seem suspect, one test alone is probably not something your doctor would base a diagnosis on. Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period.
Avatar n tn I would do two things; first, fasting test with another meter and with yours at the same time to see if yours is out of calibration; two, I would get an A1c test to verify normal glucose level. If the A1c results are normal, don't fret anymore.
Avatar m tn ve been having some of the classic warning signs of diabetes - very frequent urination, somewhat increased thirst, extreme fatigue that no amount of sleep or exercise seems to relieve - but the blood glucose tests are coming back normal. Any idea what might be going on here? As an added twist, I'm currently in a 3rd world country where the standard of medical care is fairly low, so any advice is appreciated.
Avatar m tn ve had blood glucose tests, and the normal blood test done (cbc, wbc?) A few times, and they all came back normal. The only abnormal test i ever had was Vitamin D, it was extremely low at 4.
Avatar f tn Please can someone explain to me what exactly is this glucose test all about.
Avatar m tn I have recently visited an endo because my fasting glucose was a bit high, 95 on the last blood work. Every other test was completely normal. After a complete blood/urine test, everything came back normal, including A1C of 4.8 My endo suggested that I can take the glucose tolerance test to be sure (he is very thorough). I even bought a glucose meter and tested myself for a week (2 hrs postmeal was around 120). I just got home, very depressed about my GTT results.
Avatar n tn Current recommendations are for a fasting glucose or a 2 hour glucose tolerance test to be performed for the actual diagnosis of diabetes.
875426 tn?1325528416 But while you had cited the reference range for a fasting blood sugar test which had the bottom number of the range as 60 and did not at first very specifically apply it to a random blood sugar specimen in a previous post, in a later post, you went on to say 67 is not considered low, hence the clarifying question I asked you.
Avatar f tn January, normal range 70-110 mg/dL , found 136 (hadn't eaten that morning or the night before) May, normal range 90-100 mg/dL , found 99 (had eaten some cheese the night before) Both morning tests I am 22, is this normal?
3191241 tn?1345032381 The pituitary hormone that helps to regulate your thyroid function, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is right within normal range, as is your thyroid hormone, free T4 that they measured. Your RBC is your red blood count and it came back in normal range. The sedimentation rate, also known as ESR or erythrocyte sedimentation rate, is a nonspecific disease indicator, particularly of conditions of inflammation.
Avatar m tn After my blood sugar has returned to normal levels (101 mg/dL in 3 hours) can I be sure that I shouldn't have any symptoms of hypoglycemia or on the other hand if my blood sugar levels are in the normal range, I shouldn't have any symptoms of hypoglycemia? Or there is a possibility to suffer from hypoglycemia symptoms when your blood glucose levels are within the range?
Avatar f tn Your fasting blood sugars are within normal range. It is improper to test randomly as it does not provide a clear insight on how your body handles excess sugar. Part of your annual health exam should include testing for diabetes. Go see your doctor for one.
Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar n tn nt be surpised at all if your cholesterol numbers come way down once you get your thyroid balanced. Your glucose is so close to normal range. Test it at home if you have the things to do it. Take care.
