Avatar n tn If my glucose was causing a problem with it my tryglycerides would be higher. They range from 50-72. I have started 1 glass of red wine per night. Does fasting blood sugar increase with age. I have read that it only goes 1 to 2 mg/dl per decade. Is it possible for a fasting blood sugar to elevate from anxiety in the doctors office. My blood pressure can. It has gone from 140/70 to 110/58 in just five minutes at the clinic. I hate the doctors office.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn I wasn't supposed to be diabetic until now, but at 50 I started to check for blood sugar (I am 51)with my blood sugar monitor. Amazingly, the fast blood level right after wake these last days was 7 (mmol). If I stay to bed til 11 am, it was 7.5 mmol. After shower, it drops to 6.5 / 6.8, 2 hours after breakfast (chicken salad and big plate of oatmeal with non-fat milk and without sugar or sweeteners) it drops to 6.1, during the day, it's 6.1, at at bed time, goes to 5.5 ! Isn't it weird ?
Avatar n tn Im only aware of scams that claim to "natural lower blood sugar" I dont know everything so you can look and try, your meter will tel you if its a scam or not. sound like you have DP (dawn phenomenon) your liver decides to be a good dube and releases glucose in the morning so your body has the energy to get going. Unfortunately it ether releases to much glucose or your pancreas cant keep up with insulin so your BG rises.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar m tn My doctor just started me on Tricor and my blood sugar levels have gone up as well. Prior to being on Tricor, my fasting blood sugar has always been between 89 and 101. Now they range from 119 to 125. Any thoughts on alternative medications to lower high tryglicerides?
Avatar n tn egg with mayonaise, some cheese and nuts, etc). By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).

1773108 tn?1314161667 Click the links at the top of this page - Health Tools, Health Information for additional educational material so he can start to get his health back in order. His glucose [blood sugar] levels of 480+ mg/dl has entered the danger zone. Being high for so long his body has adjusted to the higher levels so he feels no difference. What he doesn't feel is the damage he is causing to his kidneys, his cardio system, his blood pressure and nerves [diabetic neuropathy] - DN leads to amputation.
Avatar n tn Drug-induced hypoglycemia is seen with the inadvertent or intentional overdose of insulin or oral medications used to lower blood glucose. Blood glucose-lowering pills and insulin are medications used to lower the abnormally high blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. Examples of blood glucose-lowering pills are glyburide (Micronase, Diabeta, and Glynase) and glipizide (Glucotrol).
231441 tn?1333896366 I am also concerned because I would like to try to have a baby soon and realise this may be an issue. My maximum blood sugar after eating goes up to about 150. I have had glucose tolerance tests twice in the past few years, but both times had a relatively flat to negative curve (ie. 1 hr slightly raised compared to fasting, but 2 hr & 3 hr results are usually lower than the fasting level). Is all this ok?
Avatar m tn 8% A1c result implies your glucose [blood sugar] is not borderline as you think. Using the eAG [estimated Average Glucose] formula to convert the A1c to an daily glucose average equates to 148.46 mg/dl, well into diabetes land. And, having postprandial [after meal 2-3 hrs] readings over 400 mg/dl is dangerous.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
Avatar n tn Fiber can help keep your blood sugar stable. It slows your digestion, which allows for a more steady release of carbs into your bloodstream. Here's some advice from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app on this topic. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Natures-Blood-Sugar-Secret/1822 You can find this in the app by going to the Health Guide from the menu in the upper left corner of the home screen, and toggling to the Eat Right section, then scrolling down.
Avatar f tn Hi, During pregnancy normal blood sugar can be a bit lower and I was given a normal range of 60 - 100 (approx). The meal you ate sounds to be low carb and would be digested quite slowly. If you feel perfectly fine your sugar levels in the 60s may not be a problem (though definitely keep an eye on it). Howver you may have seen something very different (and high) had you eaten a high carb meal (pancakes, pasta, or rice).
Avatar m tn Consider the hemoglobin A1C test which tells you the average amount of glucose in your blood over time - about 3 months. Normally, glucose attaches to blood cells over the life of a blood cells. Like a tick on a dog. When the A1C test is taken there are gobs of glucose on these cells. The result is a high A1C result. When you are on treatment the ribavirin kills the blood cells at an early age so that they don't mature and accumulate gobs of glucose.
Avatar n tn When he had a seizure Friday I called 911 and the paramedics checked his blood sugar and it was 218 and they thought he might be diabetic. 8 hours later we took him to the health department and they checked his sugar (by drawing blood from his arm) and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that the finger ***** test wasn't very accurate. They thought that the seizure caused his sugar to go up. The last time he had ate anything was 12 hours before the seizure.
Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
Avatar m tn Cannot be controlled if you gain or maintain an above normal weight level. As diabetes86 stated, reduce your carb intake. This will help lower your blood sugar levels. For low carb meal planning go here for ideas http://www.atkins.com/Home.aspx . Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial].
798555 tn?1292791151 Because you have to monitor your blood sugar, using herbs that lower blood sugar require a lot of monitoring, and if people don't do it they can go too low. As for you, Gym is right, diet is by far the most important factor. It and exercise will determine if you go diabetic or not, not the thyroid. Personally, because you have the Hashimotos, I'd consult a naturopath and a physician who is open to herbs. Lowering blood sugar too much can affect your hormone production.
Avatar n tn One thing to remember about blood sugar is that exercise will make your blood sugar lower without the need for insulin. Adrenaline causes your muscles to absorb glucose from your blood stream without needing insulin, and the effects from that adrenaline can last for a couple hours. Hard and sustained exercise like swimming can most definitely cause the lows you are seeing. Eating more and more often would definitely be a benefit to you.
Avatar m tn Exercise daily will also help with blood sugar control. Use oral or injectable meds to control sugar levels. Best practice for diabetes is to start even persons with Type 2 on insulin early. Starting insulin while your pancreas is still working means lower doses of injected insulin - enough to support your pancreas rather than replace it, which is safer than having to depend totally on insulin. Please research and read up on diabetes.
