Fibromyalgia medication natural

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia medication natural

7450908 tn?1390999921 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar m tn Are you seeing a Rheumatologist for your Fibromyalgia? I am seeing a Rheumatologist for my severe Fibromyalgia. It is always best to check with your Doctor. Keep me posted....Thanks!

3202069 tn?1345408082 I have had fibromyalgia for about 8 yrs maybe longer. It is very hard to deal with. My legs bother me alot. I am on pain meds and eating certain foods make it worse. I go to an Integrative doctor Steve Windley. I would say that Diet and exercise help the most. Stretching is very important. My doctor told me that alot of Carbs cause the body to be inflamed. I also know that soda causes me to hurt all over. I get tightness in my legs and calves. I used to have alot of shoulder pain.
Avatar m tn It is a Rheumatologist who you must see for a fibromyalgia diagnosis and if positive, consequent treatment follows, prescribed normally by the Rheumatologist. There is no effective standard medical treatment for fibromyalgia other than symptom management, by the way. The suspected side-effects of the acupuncture cannot be attributed to the treatment itself, as it cannot be verified. Those " strange" side effects could be easily caused by stress alone.

Avoid carbohydrates from simple sugars (no artificial sugars either!), grains, breads, sweets, sodas etc. Stick with plenty of fresh organic vegetables, pastured meat, free range chicken, low mercury fish, some fruit, nuts, seeds, legumes and avoid cooking oils, as when heated they become inflammatory.
Avatar n tn It claims to help with all the things I have. Insomnia, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Chronic Fatigue, Anxiety. I am on Effexor XR and Lunesta and would like to come off of both of them. Have you heard anything good or bad that you can share with me about 5HTP?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about a year ago. Since that time I have been put on all the different fibro specific medications, all ending in bad allergic reations. The only thing my body has tolerated is muscle relaxers and pain killers. I hate to take medication especially any controled meds, is there any natural remedy to help ease the pain and fatigue?
3191241 tn?1345035981 As far as the symptoms stemming from Fibromyalgia itself go, look at natural ways of symptom management, like meditation, magnesium chloride and aromatherapy oils baths, anti-FMS diet, etc. I believe Undenatured Whey Protein Powder to raise Glutathione levels, will definitely help raise sex drive over time.
1075109 tn?1281839291 Having both of these chronic ailments I am obviously being treated with conventional medication. I am in South Africa and I have read about a lot of alternative therapy for the Fibromyalgia but I don't know how this will mix with my Bipolar Treatment. Can you help me understand this?
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I have some osteoarthritis and have had a hip replacement 4 yrs ago, in the last year I have becomed very fatigued, muscle pain especially in arms, shoulder area, hands and feet, I have very little energy to go to gym anymore, I heard that 50% of people with fibromyalgia also have low thyroid, even though my thyroid test shows normal, could thyroid medication help?
554442 tn?1221238825 It's a common misconception that fibromyalgia is an inflammatory or rheumatological condition, but it is not. While researchers still have many theories about the mechanisms behind fibromyalgia, many of them now believe the condition is more neurologically based. Aleve (naproxen sodium) and ibuprofen-based drugs (Motrin, Advil) are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and are most effective against pain that accompanies inflammation.

Avatar n tn I have numerous symptoms and I was wondering if they all stem from being diagnosed 13 years ago with Fibromyalgia? One of my chief complaints is I get what I could describe as electrical shocks that start in my head and kind-of shoot through my body. They are very painful and seem to disappear with continued use of Lexapro (my dr. prescribed this for my fibro). However, I have other problems as well. I have severe allergies, in which my dr. has prescribed Zyrtec and Flonase.

I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A CONNECTION Since my PT 6 months ago, I have had increasing problems with Fibro pain. However, since the op' the joint pain has gotten worse again and I am now convinced there is a connection.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I also have severe RLS (restless leg syndrome (in my arms and legs)) I wonder if I don't also have CFS. I am in such pain all the time and I am exhausted all the time. I noticed several people who post questions about Fibro mention that they have RLS also. I wonder if the two don't go hand in hand?

1069644 tn?1276932463 case of Fibromyalgia then I would have to say, no, Fibromyalgia is not progressive, but everyone's experiences with the disease seems to be very different than the "textbook." Some people are able to overcome much of the pain and live symptom free for many years by using good management techniques, which can include nutrition, medication and exercise programs, while others may not improve using these same processes.
Avatar m tn • Seem to get sick from antibiotics I have been tested for a lot of things and am running out of things it could be. I spent some time at the mayo clinic seeing various specialists and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia basically because they just couldn’t find anything wrong with me so I struggle with accepting the diagnosis. All tests and bloodwork seem to come back normal except a moderately elevated anti-histone and slightly elevated liver enzymes.
659608 tn?1318292966 What is your recomendation and feelings on using Medicinal Marijuana for Fibromyalgia symptoms? There are so many conflicting articles, it's hard to know the real truth, so a doctor's view point wuld be very helpful.
Avatar f tn It would be helpful to purchase a Natural Health book. I like Prescriptions for Natural Healing. Plus they can help you find a good one at the health food store. Also I've recently gotten into aromatherapy. I find that massage oils containing lavender, ylang ylang, and other relaxing oils are extremely helpful in helping you to relax before going to bed. You'll be surprised how many symptoms are relieved by natural remedies.
Avatar f tn It has been many doctor visits, many tests,ER visits, etc,, Finally closer to some answers... It is Fibromyalgia-after RA,Lupus, lyme, and thyroid ruled out..They are still going to run some blood tests again, but at least I can think that it is not something life threatning but life altering.. I will continue to visit this site for supporting others and some support for myself .. The only one that truly understands is my mom, who has suffered with this for yrs.
Avatar n tn I was originally prescribed a SSRI but what worked best for me because of my fibromyalgia was a tricyclic. The best thing you can do is take the LONG list of health problems, medications, aches and pains, etc. to your doctor and let him/her take it from there. You might be on one for a few months then need to be switched to another. Or be on more than one. Brain chemistry is even more fun than thyroid labs!
Avatar n tn The some lady with an additive personality overused her medication, wrote a book, the medication became taboo. Ask your hmo for a few valiums now and check out the looks that you get. It is my prediction that the current wave of new age medicine that messes with the levels of naturally occurring subanstances in the brain will be the worst medicine that this country has ever known. What is the difference if you HAVE to take every day for the rest of your life and addiction?
2010625 tn?1329375656 Is it common to have a bad reaction or get bad side effects at the lowest doses of almost every psychotropic medication tried? I have tried 6 different antipsychotics, I had bad side effects at the lowest dose, and can't take them. 4 SSRI antidepressants, bad side effects at lowest dose, can't take them. I also can't take Welbutrin, Depokote, Effexor, vistaril, This can't be normal right?
Avatar f tn I just got over the flu and started with painful swallowing. I have a swelling in the front top of my neck and the whole neck is sore. I don't know if this is from the thyroid but from what I have looked up it may be "Subacute Painful Thyroiditis" Are there natural treatments for this? Vitamin supplements??? I have problems taking medications so I need to seek natural ideas. I appreciate any input. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I feel so bad that all her unanswered problems exist. This is not uncommon for fibromyalgia sufferers. I've been where she is as far as pain meds. Until she can finds another doctor she ay want to do a cleansing of her body. This in itself is useful and takes courage. When I find my meds not being affective I knw I am on that slop to dependence and needing more. Tramadol in itself is a very affective pain receptor blocker but it does work on serotonin in the brain too.
1348686 tn?1310657843 My anxiety is off the charts and everyday I have been having several really bad panic attacks. I am trying to find an alternative to medication to help deal with the anxiety and attacks. I just started taking a multi vitamin and I love chamomile tea but I am so afraid to drink the tea if i took the vitamin in fear of interactions. Crazy???? I also heard that lavendar oil in baths is good. Can anyone offer any insight to alternatives to anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds????
