Avatar f tn Have they checked you vit D level? Symptoms of vit D deficiency are: calf muscle & feet pain cramps in feet & legs muscle weakness waddling walk bone pain & weakness fatigue insomnia tingling in extremities diarrhea depression heart palpitations confusion/unorganized I know when the symptoms are flaring, I have to be careful NOT to push myself. Even when I've got a million things on my "to do" list. So the plan would be to exercise when your symptoms are not so bad.

Serotonin plays a key role in insomnia and depression.
937868 tn?1570331881 One important pain transmitter is substance P, which is elevated in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with fibromyalgia . Fibromyalgia is a complex disease that is influenced by multiple factors, including hormonal and psychological issues. Avatar m tn It is a Rheumatologist who you must see for a fibromyalgia diagnosis and if positive, consequent treatment follows, prescribed normally by the Rheumatologist. There is no effective standard medical treatment for fibromyalgia other than symptom management, by the way. The suspected side-effects of the acupuncture cannot be attributed to the treatment itself, as it cannot be verified. Those " strange" side effects could be easily caused by stress alone.

554442 tn?1221238825 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn Since I've had Fibromyalgia, I have constant bursitis in my greater trocanter (hip bursa) as well as a constant inflammation of my SI joints. I receive shots in my hips every few months, sometimes monthly. I do the exercises given to me by my DO, however, I have only short term relief from the shots. I apply ice. I still have the bursitis and it won't go away. I never had any hip injuries prior or since to cause bursitis. Does anyone else have recurrent bursitis with their Fibromyalgia?
5682570 tn?1372290919 My daughter who's a holistic health practitioner and aromatherapist uses a few drops of Organic Peppermint Oil over the itchy areas. You may also try Aloe Vera gel, as this works well too. On the scalp though, hmm, I bit too messy. ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted with water for the scalp may help , but do a test on a small area first, just in case you react. For the tingling and numbness on your nose and perhaps the itchiness as well, check out the following possibilities: 1.
Avatar f tn Some people are even using natural progesterone cream for fibromyalgia treatment. I don't now how far along you are in your pregnancy, but maybe the pain will get better. Also maybe there are some natural treatments to look into that would be safe to use while pregnant. How about a massage? There are natural supplements for pain too, but I do not know if they are safe to use during pregnancy. Check to see if you have a natural healthcare practitioner in your area.
1075109 tn?1281839291 Having both of these chronic ailments I am obviously being treated with conventional medication. I am in South Africa and I have read about a lot of alternative therapy for the Fibromyalgia but I don't know how this will mix with my Bipolar Treatment. Can you help me understand this?
Avatar n tn The fibromyalgia (FM) treatment is separate (but not entirely) from thyroid so I would not stop seeing the rheumatologist. FM pts often need more aggressive thyroid treatment - get the TSH to around 0.5 with synthroid (t4)-- some people feel better with T4 and T3 (eg cytomel) combo even though the research has not shown a clear benefit with recent trials (?design problem vs no benefit?). I presume you have positive thyroid antibodies given the other autoimmune history.
Avatar f tn Hello, What types of doctors have you seen to diagnose your Fibromyalgia? Have you seen a Rheumatologist? Or did your PCP doctor diagnose your Fibro? Rheumatologist are actually the doctors who created the criteria for diagnosing Fibromyalgia and without seeing a Rheumatologist, your diagnosis may be weak if you ever were to require a medical leave or disability assistance.
Avatar m tn Early detection is key to successful treatment of Lyme. However, following a strict, natural treatment regimen can offer extensive benefits at any stage of the disease.

Avatar n tn I have numerous symptoms and I was wondering if they all stem from being diagnosed 13 years ago with Fibromyalgia? One of my chief complaints is I get what I could describe as electrical shocks that start in my head and kind-of shoot through my body. They are very painful and seem to disappear with continued use of Lexapro (my dr. prescribed this for my fibro). However, I have other problems as well. I have severe allergies, in which my dr. has prescribed Zyrtec and Flonase.
434278 tn?1324709825 I have an ANA titer of 1:640 (homgeneous pattern). Does Fibromyalgia generally go along with an ANA this elevated?
Avatar f tn I am writing on behalf of my sister who has been diagnosed with a SEVERE Vitamin D deficiency. She has every symptom of fibromyalgia and was actually diagnosed with it during a process of elimination a couple of years ago. She is now wondering if there may be a relation between fibro and vitamin d. At this point, she feels too sick to research this so I am searching for answers. Her symptoms include joint/muscle/bone pain, chronic fatigue, edema in her feet and ankles, and flu like symptoms.
2010625 tn?1329375656 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
Avatar f tn I'm 31 and after 6 long years of chronic problems unexplained I have finally been diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and Lymphdema. Sorry about spelling. Anyway I was wondering if anyone out there has had either one and if so what kind of treatment may have work for you. They say both conditions are chronic and there is no known cure for either.
Avatar f tn It would be helpful to purchase a Natural Health book. I like Prescriptions for Natural Healing. Plus they can help you find a good one at the health food store. Also I've recently gotten into aromatherapy. I find that massage oils containing lavender, ylang ylang, and other relaxing oils are extremely helpful in helping you to relax before going to bed. You'll be surprised how many symptoms are relieved by natural remedies.
1069644 tn?1276932463 case of Fibromyalgia then I would have to say, no, Fibromyalgia is not progressive, but everyone's experiences with the disease seems to be very different than the "textbook." Some people are able to overcome much of the pain and live symptom free for many years by using good management techniques, which can include nutrition, medication and exercise programs, while others may not improve using these same processes.
215021 tn?1224886057 Have any one out there been diagnosed with both thyroid problems,(particularly Hypo/hashi's), AND Fibromyalgia? I AM CONVINCED THERE IS A CONNECTION Since my PT 6 months ago, I have had increasing problems with Fibro pain. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 years ago and generally manage the symptoms with various pain medications. However, since the op' the joint pain has gotten worse again and I am now convinced there is a connection.
