fibromyalgia

939964 tn?1288017024 I was waiting anxiously when I heard this medication was very helpful for fibromyalgia patients, and coming to Canada. To my dismay I had all the side effects mentioned for this medication and was told by my doctor to stop taking it. Like Doctor Rajgopal mentioned about medications, I was given amitriptyline which helps me have a good night sleep and I feel more refreshed when I wake up.
Avatar n tn Here are some of the treatment options - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar f tn org/c/Fibromyalgia/forum/Treatments/7183349-savella i would look into the above,i never had any luck with depression medication for fibro.
Avatar f tn And forgive me for suggesting this if it is a touchy subject, but what about an SSRI? Depression and stress also make this worse. Lots of people with fibro also take this type of medication and find it beneficial.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I am not officially diagnosed but have possible fibromyalgia which can apparently happen in conjunction with depression.
1075109 tn?1281835691 Having both of these chronic ailments I am obviously being treated with conventional medication. I am in South Africa and I have read about a lot of alternative therapy for the Fibromyalgia but I don't know how this will mix with my Bipolar Treatment. Can you help me understand this?
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with fibromyalgia. dr. gave me lyrica samples and it was like a wonder drug. the pain was minimal and my afternoon exhaustion was gone. i went to fill the prescription and the insurance denied coverage and said it was "experimental". now, my dr. was not 100% certain that it was fibro. he said that i had a lot of sensory issues that made him under sure. i think that is why the insurance denied coverage. soooo, he tried me on gapapinten.

Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
Avatar f tn I am really sorry you are feeling this way. Do you think the medication is directly involved in your depression and thoughts of suicide? Definitely call your doctor immediately and discuss this. I'm not familiar with the medication and you may need to taper off and any time you start and stop a medication, it is best to do that with a doctor's guidance. I also want to encourage you to seek some help for the depression and thoughts of self harm. There is help for that!
Avatar f tn I am going to because the research for the medication will be over in June and I will not be on any medication, they alter you inside, not my style.
Avatar f tn I had IBS-C prior to taking the medication, so this is new to me. I was put on it for fibromyalgia pain and depression.
Avatar f tn Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic and can be used as an adjunct treatment (along with an antidepressant) in treatment of depression and anxiety that hasn't responded well to just an antidepressant. Again, just in my humble opinion, I think there are better options out there, especially to START with. Have you tried any other medication? Therapy? How long have you had anxiety issues? Have you been officially diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, preferrably by a psychiatrist?

Avatar f tn Hi all- I am a 27 year old female suffering from a very severe case of fibromyalgia. It has left me bed ridden for weeks at a time and when the flare ups are bad nothing works. I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.
Avatar f tn I take it for my depression and fibromyalgia. I have not had any side effects other than weird abnormal dreams when I was prescribed 60mg. My doctor reduced my dose to 30mg and it works great. I know another drug now being prescribed is Lyrica (gabepentin) for chronic pain. It is now FDA approved to treat Fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn tribulations of Fibromyalgia/CFS. Diagnosed in 1998 but I believe I had it for years prior. You know how it is - takes years for anyone to put it all together. I could probably write my own book on the subject and I won't go into all the stuff I have tried.....many many things. The thing I want to know is has anyone tried low dose thyroid medication - specifically Eltroxin?
Avatar f tn I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
Avatar m tn He was very good and after a couple of meetings he prescribed me with medication for what he called a chemical imbalance in my brain that caused depression. The meds worked and I definitely wasn't as sad most of the time. So for seven years I've taken meds. More recently I've started to feel, emotionless and even angry (on the inside). Im not suicidal like I was in middle school, but I definitely don't feel good.
Avatar m tn If you are taking medication for depression does that make your system take longer to ejaculate and also make it harder to gain an erection?
