Avatar f tn There is no cure for fibromyalgia and management consists of finding an effective combination of lifestyle adjustments, such as regular exercise and healthy diet, and medication therapy. Do consult your doctor before taking any medication. I hope it helps. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I am sure you will be fine then. You'll just have to wait it out. The withdrawal symptoms will go away eventually. Is he offering you an alternative medication instead? Perhaps Lyrica would be a better option for you since Savella didn't work out? Lyrica is also approved to treat Fibromyalgia and it's also an anti-seizure medication.
908504 tn?1269103899 I have Fibromyalgia and horrible pelvic pain. My doctor just startedd me on Savella. Does anyone have any experiences with this new med they want to share with me?
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and migraines so I stay in constant pain. I have recently started to have paralizes in my arms and legs. I mean completely to the point I can"t move my leg and it will stay that way for as long as an hr. I didn't get to see my Dr. this month I saw a CNP that works in his office and she said I need to see a counselor. What is that going to do for my paralizies?
1252153 tn?1269094321 Lyrica works to control nerve pain and is approved to treat fibromyalgia. Lyrica is a trade name and Pregabalin is the actual name of the medication. Lyrica is a hybrid, so to speak, and similar to gabapentin or Neurontin. Neurontin is approved for use to treat seizures but was found to be helpful with individuals with fibromyalgia Savella is a dual reuptake inhibitor called a SNRI. Which means is it a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been taking Savella twice a day and it has made improvement. I am also a new medication called Nucynta at night before bedtime. These have definitely helped. Good luck!
1694252 tn?1306332993 Savella which is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine dual reuptake inhibitor is FDA approved drug for use in fibromyalgia. Savella increases norepinephrine and serotonin activity in the brain. This helps in fibromyalgia patients because low brain norepinephrine levels are thought to be related to increased pain and cognitive difficulties .Use of Savella is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma and in patients taking MAOIs.
1547573 tn?1293755187 According to one major study, Hot flashes occur in approximately 12% of those who take Savella. It has been approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. It belongs to a class of medications known as serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Many SNRIs have the same or similar side-effects. Our systems are all a bit different....and therefore we react differently to medications. You may find another SNRI will not produce the Hot Flashes....or they may not be as extreme.
1023657 tn?1251844941 Some options are - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella. These are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Avatar f tn I have been living with fibro for almost 10 yrs. I am taking lortabs and amitryptiline. I still am in pain and savella made me crazy!! I don't know what to do, or what will work. I don't have insurance and lyrica costs so much. What are you all prescribed and does it work?
Avatar f tn Why do you want to switch over to Savella? Savella is also used in fibromyalgia but do consult your doctor before changing any medicine.Savella can cause palpitations, nausea, vomiting, hypertension so a person on Savella needs to get his blood pressure and pulse checked regularly. Self treatment can be dangerous. Do consult your doctor before changing any medicine. I hope it helps. Good luck!

Avatar f tn I suffered with muscle pain for a few years and thought it was part of the RA but now I realize that I have FM. After going to my pcp a few times with pain not explained by RA he had me to try Savella. I skeptically filled the rx. Within a week I noticed that my muscle pain was noticeably improved. It flares at times but it has helped a lot.
Avatar m tn I recently started Savella also. I was taking Cymbalta just like you, with little results. I went through a period of depression/miserable feeling when I was decreasing the Cymbalta and increasing the Savella. At the time I assumed it was from the Cymbalta? Now I am not so sure. I have been on the Savella for two weeks. I don't really notice much of a difference besides I am short tempered and angry alot. This is abnormal for me, I usually am very easy going and passive.
687049 tn?1272340093 Hi. I was on Lexapro 10mg and PA took me off to start me on Savella. I have had extreme dizziness and pounding heart and spots in front of my eyes when I stand up. PA says this is from coming off the Lexapro. I have also been nauseous probably 5/7days a week. Did anyone else have nausea and dizziness possibly from the Savella? If you did, can you remember how long it lasted? Any other comments on your experience with Savella would also be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anyone has heard (or ever used) a drug called Savella. I'm looking for non-narcotic treatments for pain and a nurse friend mentioned it to me. I looked it up and found there can be some withdrawal from it but according to what I read, if you taper off, it's fine. Becoming dependent on oxycodone has left me worried about trying anything that says you need to taper off it, even if it's not a narcotic.
Avatar m tn I have recently been dx with fibromyalgia. The rheumatologist prescribed Savella. I have just started taking Savella, but notice a headache throughout the back of my head and slight nausea. Is this "normal" for some people? And will the side effects disipate with time?
