fibromyalgia

Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've tried all of the meds they are currently prescribing for this. Has anyone tried alternative treatment for this? If so, did it work for you?
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed at the beginning of the year with fibromyalgia. dr. gave me lyrica samples and it was like a wonder drug. the pain was minimal and my afternoon exhaustion was gone. i went to fill the prescription and the insurance denied coverage and said it was "experimental". now, my dr. was not 100% certain that it was fibro. he said that i had a lot of sensory issues that made him under sure. i think that is why the insurance denied coverage. soooo, he tried me on gapapinten.
462570 tn?1273632977 Hi All, I went to a Dr I Jon Russell who is director of clinical research at University of Texas who has researched Substance P which is elevated in CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) of FM patients but only if primary is FM. Secondary FMS when associated with rheumatoid arthritis is less elevated. He has co-written a book "The Fibromyalgia Help Book" a "Practical Guide to Living Better with Fibromyalgia" which I found very helpful.

Avatar m tn It is very difficult to know anything based on what you posted. First, lab ranges even for the different labs in the US differ so without ranges - have no idea if you are low, high or normal. Second - no idea if you are sick or how you are sick. The tests run are not really run for adrenal except DHEA (and that is really more of an adrogen - e.g. it converts to testosterone and estrogen) so not sure why it belongs in this forum.
Tbd I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it. I just wondered if anyone else has had this experience with either or both of these meds.

Avatar f tn She prescribes a medication for awhile then for no reason decides to stop them cold turkey. She does not appear to even know the side effects. The pharmacist is constantly calling her to verify what she is prescribing as it will counteract with what I am already taking. At times she will call me from her home at night and tell me not to take a medication after earlier telling the pharmacist it was ok to take it with the new medication she prescribed.
939964 tn?1288017024 I was waiting anxiously when I heard this medication was very helpful for fibromyalgia patients, and coming to Canada. To my dismay I had all the side effects mentioned for this medication and was told by my doctor to stop taking it. Like Doctor Rajgopal mentioned about medications, I was given amitriptyline which helps me have a good night sleep and I feel more refreshed when I wake up.
Avatar n tn Hi StephanCastlecrag, In actual ,, per doctor recommendation I should not be starting the medication for now. But I want to start the medication. I am HbeAg negative. But I want to start the Medication . On my insisting , Dr told me to start with Baraclude 0.5mg (Entecavir) . Should I start this or should go for Tenofovir ???? What is the major difference between the two ???
1130095 tn?1267369259 Ask your doctor about Topamax. I had daily headaches for years and this is the only thing that has helped. What most likely is happening is your pain is causing the headaches but the pills or some of the pills your taking are causing "rebound headaches" a lot of pain medications do that. I didn't know that for years and I was suffering. Diclofenac comes in a topical form, if that helps see if the doctor will give it to you that way.
Avatar n tn The only substance that I know I am allergic to is sulfa drugs. I am currently seeing a great specialist for my fibromyalgia and he may be able to guide me in the right direction for a good allergist. I have never really seen anyone because it has always been just more of an annoyance and I've had bigger problems to deal with. But now this sore throat is just going on and on and since my fibromyalgia diagnosis and others I have been trying to really get my body in good order.

Avatar n tn Here are some of the treatment options - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
Avatar f tn Hi Themaddness Welcome to the forum.. If you take any pain med with opiate in it your baby would be born addicted.. CPS would not get involved if your pain management was under the care of a Dr. and your OB is aware also.. It would be so much better to be off all drugs before getting pregnant. Many in pain management have to a drug holiday while having a child You may find your pain a little better as opiates can sometimes cause the brain to produce more pain to get more opiate..
Avatar n tn but sometime i have pain at that areas. Please guide me what should I do. Do i operate them or it can be treated by any medicine. This discussion is related to fibradenoma.
690327 tn?1255354511 Fibromyalgia has to be one of the worst things I have had yet, but, I am sure thre will be something worse! That seems to be that with life. I never used to be ill much at all, even though at 16 I was told I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. Now, I have those plus, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, IBS, Restless leg syndrome. 735919 tn?1236444549 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
7450908 tn?1390996321 I was diagnosed with fibro about 18 years ago. I've been using Lyrica & was using Cymbalta for a while as well. I quit using the antidepressant because it seemed to make the depression worse. I'm on low income & I'm telling this medication is getting so expensive that I have a hard time affording to buy just a months worth at taking one a day. At certain times of the year I have to take more than one a day. Is there a more natural way to deal with fibro?
Avatar f tn I am going to because the research for the medication will be over in June and I will not be on any medication, they alter you inside, not my style.
