Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia medication guide

Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've tried all of the meds they are currently prescribing for this. Has anyone tried alternative treatment for this? If so, did it work for you?
Avatar n tn Some of which include suicidal tendencys. Be sure to read your medication guide and I would discuss the headaches and ringing of the ears right after the Holiday. Med Help offers a forum by the name of "Ask the Pharmacist", this might be of some help to you also.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately the information you were given about costiocondritis caused by fibromyalgia is incorrect.. By definition, fibromyalgia (FMS) is a syndrome, therefore does not cause any other conditions itself-in other words it is the sum of symptoms and imbalances, with some of those being necessarily present for its diagnosis. The cause of costiocondritis could possibly be one of the underlying causes fibromyalgia, which by the way remains unknown according to conventional medical science.

2033435 tn?1329947108 I came across the stopthethyroidmadness site and would like to know what is the general consensus around here on the type of meds the author recommends and her point of view. Is it true that everyone should take i.e. medication that contains T3, etc? Or does it depend on each specific case/person? I would like to understand this better so I can discuss with my doctor when the time comes.

20202111 tn?1492379275 She prescribed Nature throid and I filled the script and one week later, I was laid off from work. I did not take the medication as I did not have any one to guide me through it. When I began working again and was covered on a new health insurance plan I went to my primary physician ( the new insurance would not cover any visits to the functional medicine Dr) and I told him that my previous physician thought I had a thyroid problem. He ran the usual TSH and free T4 and said, nope you are fine.
462570 tn?1273636577 Hi All, I went to a Dr I Jon Russell who is director of clinical research at University of Texas who has researched Substance P which is elevated in CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) of FM patients but only if primary is FM. Secondary FMS when associated with rheumatoid arthritis is less elevated. He has co-written a book "The Fibromyalgia Help Book" a "Practical Guide to Living Better with Fibromyalgia" which I found very helpful.
Avatar f tn My dr had started me on lamictal and cymbalta (I also have fibromyalgia) I'm really just looking for information about it to understand it better and something my husband can hear or read to get him to understand that it is something I can not control even though in know when I'm doing it. Any suggestions?
Tbd I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it. I just wondered if anyone else has had this experience with either or both of these meds.
Avatar f tn She prescribes a medication for awhile then for no reason decides to stop them cold turkey. She does not appear to even know the side effects. The pharmacist is constantly calling her to verify what she is prescribing as it will counteract with what I am already taking. At times she will call me from her home at night and tell me not to take a medication after earlier telling the pharmacist it was ok to take it with the new medication she prescribed.
Avatar n tn The only substance that I know I am allergic to is sulfa drugs. I am currently seeing a great specialist for my fibromyalgia and he may be able to guide me in the right direction for a good allergist. I have never really seen anyone because it has always been just more of an annoyance and I've had bigger problems to deal with. But now this sore throat is just going on and on and since my fibromyalgia diagnosis and others I have been trying to really get my body in good order.
Avatar f tn Hi Themaddness Welcome to the forum.. If you take any pain med with opiate in it your baby would be born addicted.. CPS would not get involved if your pain management was under the care of a Dr. and your OB is aware also.. It would be so much better to be off all drugs before getting pregnant. Many in pain management have to a drug holiday while having a child You may find your pain a little better as opiates can sometimes cause the brain to produce more pain to get more opiate..
1353650 tn?1429466974 Testing came back equivocal for lyme ( this means needs further testing which wasn't done) and was told I didn't have it, along with slightly elevated sed rate, and an elevated rheumatoid factor. Doctor said I have fibromyalgia and was going to develop rheumatoid arthritis and that I should start on anti-depressants, pain meds, and immune suppressants to slow the disease.
Avatar f tn // I would suggest you make an appointment with a rheumatologist who understands fribro and have your diagnosis of fribo confirmed, this should additionally rule out other potential medical explanations and potentially lead to better treatments options for you. Cheers........

Avatar f tn 5, but my free T4 was only 9, and I had really bad depression, fibromyalgia, weight gain, and vaginal bleeding (despite being menopausal - I am 53), plus loads of other minor stuff. I also tested positive for antibodies. After 2 years, I am now on 100mcg thyroxine, and the bleeding has gone (it stopped immediately I went on to thyroxine), the fibromyalgia and depression have dramatically improved, and I am able to work full time again. However, on my last blood test my TSH was only 0.
1337431 tn?1280959499 so to speak, usually from a google search. They do not realize the date on the post. Someone will catch it and guide them on how to create their own post. Funny, that is how I landed here and a member helped me. I pay it forward when I see one.

Avatar n tn The tender points is only a guide and you don't need to have a set amount of tenderpoints now to be diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia. The American Medical Association realizes now that it's up to the doctor to notice the symptoms and the tenderpoints are only a guide and no longer a factor due to it now being known that Fibro patients don't all have tender points, but rather undiagnosed diffuse pain throughout the entire body lasting for more than three months.
Avatar n tn What to do to help with pain when you suffer from fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis, and arthritis? How to switch from opiates to other safer treatments? Help. At the end of my rope. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Avatar m tn I have been on 3 Norco a day for about 10 years but 6 years ago, on top of neuropathy and fibromyalgia and neck damage I got osteoarthritis & it is now in every joint in my body, I already need new knees and implanted cartlidge in both hands. However, in the great commonwealth of PA they want me to stay on same pain meds thru both hand implant surgeries.
Avatar f tn // Another thing to keep in mind is that not all hypo patients taking T4 meds convert the T4 to T3 adequately, and have to add a source of T3 to their meds. I had that problem for a very long time, and as a result had lingering hypo symptoms. Many of our members report that symptom relief for them required that Free T3 had to be adjusted into the upper third of its range and Free T4 adjusted to around the middle of its range.
