Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia diet central nervous system

fibromyalgia

Avatar f tn My MRI also showed I have a central nervous system lesion. Does anyone else have this or know what it is or if it is caused from the chiari.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am hoping you will get multiple answers for your question as this one is a little tricky for me. As far as Fibromyalgia pain disappearing after the virus leaves a persons system, I would have to say most likely not, unless the pain is actually coming from hormones or the virus itself, so I suppose it's possible.
Avatar m tn i just went to a rheumatologist and he said he believes i have a central nervous system disorder... i was wondering if anyone knows what that is? i have talked to ppl on here and they said theythink i might have fibromyalgia? is that acentral nervous system disorder?
136956 tn?1688675680 These have been grouped as there appears to be central sensitization, which simply means that the central nervous system has an exaggerated response to stimuli. Its a grouping no proven studies. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn A positive ANA test is also very common in people with fibromyalgia even though fibromyalgia ia not an autoimmune disorder but a central nervous system disorder.
Avatar f tn Narcotic analgesics block the transmission of pain signals by binding to the opioid receptors in the central nervous system. The actions in the central nervous system are also responsible for side effects such as sedation, respiratory depression and intoxication. Using narcotic analgesics for a long time increases the risk of dependence. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
994888 tn?1259076513 Some fibromyalgia sufferers are initially misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease of the central nervous system. It could be vice versa , you could have MS symptoms and could be misunderstood as Fibromyalgia . Some times MRI is normal in MS . Here is a comparison of the symptoms of both the conditions . Kindly relate to them and decide which one you are suffering from and take the treatment accordingly .
Avatar n tn But I still have a whole host of other diseases commonly seen in fibromyalgia sufferers due to the central nervous system overreacting to stimuli. So it can affect the pulmonary system, esophagus, IBS, chronic fatigue system, heartburn, noncardiac chest pain, etc. etc.
Avatar m tn t seem to find anything wrong with me. Thay told me it could possibly be Central Nervous System Sensitization and want me to take Gabapentin. My question is this, could the ongoing effects of the disorientation from the vertigo and the stress it puts on my body possibly be connected to causing this Sensitzatoin syndrome of the nerve signals being sent to my skin? All autoimmune antibody test have come back normal but I am also wondering if my immune system could be causing my skin pain.
Avatar m tn My neurologist admitted me to the hospital three seperate times for IV anti-viral meds as he believed the infection/virus never went away, but settled in my central nervous system. I was also on a lot of pain meds, and was told it would take a VERY long time to feel better. THey actually found viral loads in my spinal fluid of mono, varicella and herpes. I did leave that neuro, but have since been Dxd with lupus.
572651 tn?1530999357 A dear heart sister turned me on to this one - Barnes and Nobles carries a wonderful series called Spark Charts and the one on the central nervous system has all the brain/spinal cord info we always are searching for here. You can get them at B&N for under $5 - I just ordered mine on line and paid for postage but it was still under $10 . You can see what I'm talking about here - http://sparkcharts.sparknotes.com/health/nervoussystem/view.
Avatar f tn i tell my husband that it feels like someone has turned up the volume on my nervouse system. i think that whatever is going on with people like us is a central nervous system problem---something is way out of whack. i think alot of us have very similar symptoms with some variations thrown in just to make it difficult for docs to get a clear cut idea of what is going on with us---and for some docs to think it isn't real.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is very tricky to treat because it is related to stress affected the central nervous system. Stress can be physical, chemical, and emotional. In addition, fibromyalgia sufferers have very low pain tolerance and it means that they can feel the pain very easily. All I can tell you now is to look into your diet and begin to eliminate fast foods and toxic chemicals from your sytem. Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Doesn't fibromyalgia involve pain in a certain number of specified pressure points? MS certainly can cause pain but doesn't have to. MS does need evidence of lesions in the central nervous system, usually demonstrated by both MRI and neurological exam.
Avatar m tn Treatment of fibromyalgia includes Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants such as flexeril, tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(includes aropax), anti-seizure drugs like gabapentin and pregabalin and central nervous system (CNS) stimulants such as modafinil.New research has shown improvement in patients undertaking floatation tank sessions, massage and cognitive behaviour therapy. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn feels your muscle symptoms are somatic, which I recently learned is part of the central nervous system, has he ordered any tests to try to determine the cause? Has the dr. ordered an EEG on you? G.) With your difficulty sleeping: 1. Do you feel it is due to rapid heart rate or have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? 2.
Avatar f tn There is actual damage to the central nervous system. Fibro is not a disease. It is a group of symptoms without a known cause. It is a diagnosis of exclusion when all diseases have been ruled out. There is no actual damage occuring to the body. It feels like it but it is not occuring. They both cause symptoms like numbness and tingling, pain, stiffness though. Both can be debilitating. There are many conditions which cause symptoms that overlap with other conditions.
Avatar n tn fibromyalgia is what i live with every day. Its a mis understood disoder of the central nervous system thats causes the CNS to become hyper and over reactive to simple simuli like pressure and sends pain signals.
719785 tn?1232901518 I would think that it's controlled because it effects the Central Nervous System. It doesn't have addictive properties though, if that is a concern. The pharmacy may have asked for your ID if you haven't had prescriptions filled there before.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome related to the muscles, joints and connective tissue (tendons, etc.) Some fibromyalgia seems to be related to "central sensitization," where nociceptive neurons in the dorsal horns of the spinal cord become sensitized by peripheral tissue damage or inflammation. This type of sensitization has been suggested as a possible causal mechanism for chronic pain conditions. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn I have a theory about why exercise hurts us so much. Fibromyalgia is a central nervous system disorder.( this is now known) Exercise is a type of stress. Fibromyalgia and stress of any kind do not go well together. Exercise registers in the brain as stress and the brain sends out signals to the body to react to the stress( threat).Your body produces a sudden burst of cortisol, the "fight or flight" hormone. This hormone is not bad.
Avatar m tn The ENS supervises the processes of digestion and stays in close contact with, and is heavily influenced by, the central nervous system (the CNS) which comprises the brain and spinal cord. The ENS and CNS use many of the same chemical messengers or neurotransmitters including acetylcholine and serotonin.
Avatar f tn I found this information about MVP, what do you think? What is MVP Syndrome/Dysautonomia? About 40 percent of patients with mitral valve prolapse also have an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system, or ANS, called dysautonomia. The ANS is composed of two systems; the parasympathetic and the sympathetic. It controls virtually all bodily functions, such as respiration, heartbeat, blood pressure, vision, and digestion.
