Unfortunately, they don't have a magic wand to stop all the pains, but they teach you relaxation, gentle exercise, diet, communication, and lots more. The one I was referred to ran for a 12 weeks with weekly sessions. If you are still at work, your hand problems may be due to repetition.

Now as for a diet, I have a few questions...do u know if u have a thyroid issue? were u checked lately for an autoimmune issue?How about Ehlers-Danlos? Do u ever have issues with IBS? Sorry for the questions, but they will help in answering ur question.
Avatar f tn Exercise is one of the best remedies for fibromyalgia pain. weaning off the norco will be more mental than anything, but restless legs and generalized pain are some symptoms of decreasing the dose.
Avatar m tn Following a good organic diet for borth migraine and fibromyalgia helps and avoiding stress. I have blackout shades in my home and NO FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! Warm baths are great. I've been watching some research at Stanford and hoping for success there. It's non narcotic and inexpensive. You can catch a youtube film about it by looking up stanford fibromyalgia. Good luck.

The diet involves removing all sugar, alcohol, simple carbs from my diet and eating something sensible every 2-3 hours to regulate blood sugar levels. When I keep to this diet I feel well and the symptoms of Fibromyalgia diminish and my blood sugar levels out normal.
Avatar n tn My husband was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic and has CFS, chronic IBS and flares of fibromyalgia. We both were put on metformin, strict diet and exercise to help control our blood sugars and thyroid medication because we also have high normal TSH. We are both feeling much better and will feel like ourselves after a few months of treatment. Look into it because fibro could be caused by both of these conditions.

I do hope, if your diagnosis is Fibromyalgia or something in the neighborhood that you are seeing a Board Certified Rheumatologist. They are the only doctors who specialize in and are likely to keep up with trends in Fibro. Your family or Primary Care Physician typically are too spread out to know enough to treat you effectively.
Avatar f tn I think it helps the guys somewhat but REALLY helps my Fibromyalgia. It is a difficult diet to follow but you might be amazed at how much better you feel. I have come up with some of my own recipes so I don't have to buy the expensive GFCF foods. It is definitely worth trying for at least a few months to see if it helps you.

I have prescriptions for morphine and oxycodone but on bad days they don't touch the pain. I can't do massages because the fibro pressure points are too painful to be touched.

My weight is normal (~115 lbs), but I am not unable to get sufficient exercise as I also suffer from fibromyalgia. Should I be worried about my cholesterol levels? If yes, what can I do about it? Avatar m tn It is possible for even the worst of us Fibromyalgics to put our pain in remission with proper stress, diet, exercise and medication management. It just takes time and the right environment. Perhaps some cognitive therapy might be helpful? Don't give up. Fibromyalgia can be managed and improved.

Snris are now being used for fibromyalgia pain, but they are very difficult drugs and hard to quit and can be liver toxic, but something else to consider if nothing else is working. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have done some reading where some people are getting relief with a gluten free or even a vegan or dairy free diet (try reading the Lupus Recovery diet - has good case studies for those with fibromyalgia as well). It is important that she do some light exercise but never to the point of exhaustian and if her pain get higher take it easy. It took me a while to learn this. I get on my eliptical daily and started with just 5 minutes at a time.

I know that the best way to lose weight is by watching what you eat and exercise but what do you do when you are unable to exercise or walk?
