Should i change to azithromycin and stop the doxycycline regime, or just stay with doxycycline? Which is the right choice of drug ? By the way , the first doctor also suggested taking doxycycline & at the same time getting treated with penicillin injection daily for 1 week, will this be effective or too much at once?
This is about to be a long story so bare with me. This all started about 3 and 1/2 months ago when I had unprotected sex with a girl I barely knew. 3 weeks after I started getting a burning sensation when peeing so I automatically knew i had an std. Needless to say i go to the doctors and they tell me i have chlamydia so they prescribe me azithromycin 1g, pill form. Took that, made my symptoms worse. I now am having discharge and still tingling on the tip of my penis.
This is the latest of a handful of studies in recent years questioning the efficacy of azithromycin against rectal chlamydia. Single-dose AZM remains a routine recommendation, but some STD specialists indeed have more confidence in doxycycline. Probably the best approach is for you to have another rectal swab NAAT test, at least a month after treatment (and have no receptive anal sex until then); but some experts might go along with re-treatment with doxy.
More swabs were taken, and the cause of the pain was Chlamydia (attacking fallopian tubes), which had not been cured by the Azithromycin or the Doxycycline. The Doctor at A&E gave me Metronidazole (14 Days), Doxycycline (10 Days) and Amoxicillin (14 Days). I finished this course of antibiotics about a week and a half ago, and went in for my (hopefully) final set of swabs today. Results will be available early next week.

What is the duration of symptoms with adenoviral urethritis? Does it take weeks to resolve or just days?
Also, can the adenovirus be bounced back and forth with vaginal sex or do both individuals develop immunity to the virus?
Should Doxycycline be the first treatment to try for 1 week, or Azithromycin should be tried first, or both should be tried one after other before the next test? (Considering there is no other concern for the patient). Should the person get tested after 1 treatment before trying other?

The dr. is having me take azithromycin starting today for one week off one week on. I am a little nervous to take this while I am in the 2 week wait. Also, if I am pregnant it makes me more nervous. She gave it to me because when I was pregnant around 6 months ago I got 2 uti's. I ended up losing the pregnancy, but to this day they don't know why because everything was going so great. She wants me to avoid the uti's by taking this medicine.
When I retested 12 days after finishing the cipro, or 19 days after taking the azithromycin, would those test results be conclusive or would they still be contaminated by the antibiotics I took?
If I want to be absolutely sure that I have no STD at this point, would a WBC count of a urine sample or urethra swab be useful? Should I do something else instead? How long must I wait after I stop taking the doxycycline for any new test to be informative?

Five days of doxycycline would probably have cured the infection and 1.5g of azithromycin of 50% more azithromycin than is required for chlamydial therapy. Wither way you would be cured.
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?

2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?

That seemed to clear it up but one week later when my results came in and confirmed gonorrhea I returned and receive more azithromycin as well as ceftrixone and took them right away. All symptoms remained absent for about a week or so but then new symptoms turned up. I developed a pain in my testicles which radiated down my legs and a very small amount of clear discharge. There is no more burning but the tip of my urethra feels "wet".
IN MOST CASES, 1G. OF AZITHROMYCIN IS ENOUGH TO TREAT CHLAMYDIA, ESPECIALLY IF LOCATED IN PENIS OR VAGINA. SOMETIMES ONE NEEDS TO GIVE A HIGHER DOSE IN THE CASE OF ANAL OR THROAT CHLAMYDIA. HOWEVER A SMALL NUMBER OF CASES REQUIRE A ONE WEEK COURSE OF DOXYCYCLINE, ESPECIALLY IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST AFTER THE SINGLE DOSE OF AZITHROMYCIN.

ve had both an injection and a course of doxycycline, is this misunderstanding of the azithromycin (and the 12 hour gap between the first 250mg and the remaining 750mg) likely to mean that I still have the infection? Do I need to seek treatment or testing again?

Your diagnosis of NGU seems accurate. Probably you acquired it by vaginal sex with your partner, although some cases are acquired by oral sex. In most cases, the exact cause of the NGU isn't known; there are no tests for most of the bacteria that cause it. Yeast rarely causes NGU; I doubt that's the problem. And certainly you are not "allergic to her menstrual cycle".
But that does not mean your girlfriend is not infected.

In 2013 me and my friend was have had a sex with her. I was use condom but for 1 sec condom break during sex. After me my friend have had sex with her without condom. After 3 days of sex I feel burning sensation while pee. But no sore and no warts. But my friend have nothing no pain nothing.
I found out I had chlamydia in April after going to the doctor for what I thought seemed like UTI symptoms. I was given azithromycin in the drink form. Me and my boyfriend both drank the meds, abstained from sex for 8 days, and symptoms seemed to be cured.
In the past month or so I started noticing that the symptoms seemed to be returning. The only symptoms I have ever experienced were burning in the vagina and urethra. I went back to the dr again. Negative for a UTI, positive chlamydia.
She treated me with 1 cefixime pill and one other pill that I cannot remember while also taking doxycycline 100mg for 10 days twice daily (June 2016 at this point). Once all 10 days of the antibiotics were done I felt better and had no testicle irritation or discomfort for the next 8 months.

As chance would have it, I have lead most of the research that has been done on azithromycin for syphilis therapy. A number of studies have shown that azithromycin in a dose or 2.0 grams (4 500 mg pills) taken at one time is just as effective as penicillin for syphilis treatment however, there are some cases of treatment failures with azithromycin for syphilis treatment and many of the treatment failures have come from San Francisco where you apparently live.
) I have access to a large quantity of Azithromycin not expired or old. I find no drug interactions between doxycycline and Azithromycin so will it help eradicate the infection if I give a two combo punch similar to a two-three drug regimen that is available for HIV? Going to take doxycycline 200mg/total a day split into two doses and since I took 3g of Azithromycin already was going to take 500mg a day for 15 days. I just want to make sure I won’t be doing more harm than good.

I have been diagnosed with chlamydia in my urine (2 weeks ago) and in my anus (last week). 2 weeks ago, I was given one dose of 1g azithromycin that helped (pain when urinating gone). Last week, since they also found chlamydia in my anus, I was again prescribed doxycycline (2x100g) for 7 days. However, the clinic made a mistake and only gave me 12 (instead of 14) 100g tablets that make my treatment will only lasts 6 days.
Do the two antibiotics work differently in any way or is it unlikely that the Azithromycin will do anything, as the Doxycycline was ineffective?
