Should i change to azithromycin and stop the doxycycline regime, or just stay with doxycycline? Which is the right choice of drug ? By the way , the first doctor also suggested taking doxycycline & at the same time getting treated with penicillin injection daily for 1 week, will this be effective or too much at once?
Results: 11 patients (26.2%) had a positive TOC following treatment with stat azithromycin. The risk of re-infection was excluded in two, identifying nine of the 11 (81.8%) as treatment failures. More swabs were taken, and the cause of the pain was Chlamydia (attacking fallopian tubes), which had not been cured by the Azithromycin or the Doxycycline. The Doctor at A&E gave me Metronidazole (14 Days), Doxycycline (10 Days) and Amoxicillin (14 Days). I finished this course of antibiotics about a week and a half ago, and went in for my (hopefully) final set of swabs today. Results will be available early next week.

Unlikely. Gonorrhea is usually successfully treated with azithro and when it occurs is typically symptomatic with visible discharge.
It has no effect against chlamydia or the other bacteria that cause cervicitis in women and NGU in men, and borderline efficacy at best against gonorrhea and syphilis. The alternative to doxycycline is azithromycin 1.0 g orally in a single dose, which is safe and effective in pregnancy. If gonorrhea is a concern, then it's azithromycin plus a cephalosporin antibiotic, such cefixime or cefpodoxime; or a 2.0 g dose of azithromycin.

What is the duration of symptoms with adenoviral urethritis? Does it take weeks to resolve or just days?
Also, can the adenovirus be bounced back and forth with vaginal sex or do both individuals develop immunity to the virus?
I did a research on internet and found that my symptoms are almost similar to Chlamydia. I took Azithromycin 1g before I go to bed two days ago. As the discharge didn't disappear two days after taking Azithromycin 1g, I started taking Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 7 days. Is this procedure effective or not? What other alternative medications available for my aliment without seeing a doctor or screening test?
The dr. is having me take azithromycin starting today for one week off one week on. I am a little nervous to take this while I am in the 2 week wait. Also, if I am pregnant it makes me more nervous. She gave it to me because when I was pregnant around 6 months ago I got 2 uti's. I ended up losing the pregnancy, but to this day they don't know why because everything was going so great. She wants me to avoid the uti's by taking this medicine.
Five days of doxycycline would probably have cured the infection and 1.5g of azithromycin of 50% more azithromycin than is required for chlamydial therapy. Wither way you would be cured.
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?

2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?

ve had both an injection and a course of doxycycline, is this misunderstanding of the azithromycin (and the 12 hour gap between the first 250mg and the remaining 750mg) likely to mean that I still have the infection? Do I need to seek treatment or testing again?
This is about to be a long story so bare with me. This all started about 3 and 1/2 months ago when I had unprotected sex with a girl I barely knew. 3 weeks after I started getting a burning sensation when peeing so I automatically knew i had an std. Needless to say i go to the doctors and they tell me i have chlamydia so they prescribe me azithromycin 1g, pill form. Took that, made my symptoms worse. I now am having discharge and still tingling on the tip of my penis.

I have been diagnosed with chlamydia in my urine (2 weeks ago) and in my anus (last week). 2 weeks ago, I was given one dose of 1g azithromycin that helped (pain when urinating gone). Last week, since they also found chlamydia in my anus, I was again prescribed doxycycline (2x100g) for 7 days. However, the clinic made a mistake and only gave me 12 (instead of 14) 100g tablets that make my treatment will only lasts 6 days.
My symptoms were uti Symptoms and a bit of yellowish discharge. I took 1000 mg of azithromycin, but it seemed to do nothing. I called and got sent macrobid thinking it was a lingering uti caused by the chlamydia. This also did nothing. I went back to a clinic and got retested positive for chlamydia again 2 weeks later. Took azithromycin again with no relief.
I was prescribed Azithromycin to syphilis (early stage). I am allergic to penicilin. However, the doctor prescribed 5 doses (one a day) of 500mg (that is, during 5 days). But I have read that for Syphillis the recommendation is 1g dose (instead of 500mg).

I find no drug interactions between doxycycline and Azithromycin so will it help eradicate the infection if I give a two combo punch similar to a two-three drug regimen that is available for HIV? Going to take doxycycline 200mg/total a day split into two doses and since I took 3g of Azithromycin already was going to take 500mg a day for 15 days. Hi, I'm a 29 year old male from the UK.
I was recently diagnosed with Non-Specific Urethritis, after 3 months of undiagnosed symptoms (discharge, stinging).
My doctor had previously prescribed me with a 2 week dose of Doxycycline, which I took. However, this didn't help whatsoever, as symptoms all persisted.
Today I was given a 1000mg dose of Azithromycin, after inflammation was detected in a swab test.
I am a 19 year old female. My doctor prescribed me 500mg Azithromycin for 3 days. But everywhere I am reading says I’m supposed to take 1g of Azithromycin which was not what I was prescribed. I got retested after 6 days and I’m still positive. I haven’t had sex since being positive the first time. Can anyone help?????
m 23 years old, 1/22/18 I tested positive for Chlamydia after experiencing UTI like symptoms and was prescribed 2 azithromycin 500 mg tablets from planned parenthood. Symptoms disappeared but then reappeared 3 months later and I returned and tested positive again and was pescribed doxycycline 100mg tabs once a day for 7 days. After treatment my symptoms continued to persist and I worried that I was still not cured.
I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

1) Both azithromycin and penicillin are 100% effective in curing incubating syphilis.
what can be done about chlamydia infection after several antibiotics( doxycycline, azithromycin, etc) have failed in treatment for two years. what could be wrong.
