Based on your history of gastrointestinal problems, I would not recommend doxycycline. Doxycycline works well but can cause sun sensitivity and can cause esophageal reflux (~ heart burn or indigestion). Now, we are down to two choices. First, malarone (atovaquone + proguanil). Malarone is taken daily, begun one day prior to arriving in a malarious area, taken every day while exposed to malaria, and then for one week after you leave the malarious region.
I saw my PA today and we concluded that most of my symptoms at this point are probably Babesia and side effects of Malarone. She didn't put me on Mepron because it has to be taken with Zithromax, which I can't take because of another med I am on. She gave me another scrip for a med I've never heard of, Alinia, to take along with Malarone. But get this, my insurance only authorized 20 days worth, not the 30 that was prescribed. I don't know why.
Hi. I'm still being treated with antibiotics for a clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease. I'm just wondering if there are others out there who experience a large amount of tingling and numbness in hands, feet, face, scalp and sometimes even my tongue. I don't have any pain in my joints, it all seems to be neurological. I also have a lot of pressure in my head and dizziness/lightheadedness. It's as though I can't move my head fast or I'll have an "off" feeling.
After 2 weeks on Doxycycline for Lyme, I crashed into a very severe depression that lasted during the whole antibiotic regimen (4 months) The depression lifted rapidly 2-3 weeks after I stopped antibiotics. Has anyone else experienced heavy depression related to antibiotic treatment?
I have fininshed my 21 days of doxycycline and have tried 5 different medications to make my headache go away and I still have my headache and sleepyness... When will my headache go away?

I have just found out from my LLMD that I tested positive for Babesia and Anaplasmosis. I believe that I have eradicated the Anaplasmosis with the high dose of Doxycycline that I have been on for 5 weeks, but I have read some kind of scary stuff about Babesia, and of course, most of the stories posted online are NOT success stories. I caught this within about 10 weeks after I contracted it, I have a good doctor, and I am doing everything in my power to educate myself and keep my body healthy.
If she has Gonorrhea in the Throat what would the chances of me getting it? I also have 3 100mg of doxycycline. So right after she finished giving me oral sex i took one, If i take the rest of them right as soon as it happen what are the chances of me being ok vs. not ok?
I am on a 30 cycle of doxycycline for an unrelated matter. Wouldn’t this kill chlamydia & gonorrhea?

Hi, my neckpain and stiffness has increased dramatically lately. For those of you who have struggled with Babesia, do you find that this coinfection tends to cause more of the neck problems? I've been off Malarone for a little over a month (my babesia med) and am beginning to wonder if the babesia is coming back.
Problem started while I was taking minocycline for acne. Went in to student health. NP RXed 10 days doxycycline, 100 mg PO BID, sent me to ER. Had an ultrasound, confirmed it was epididymitis plus a hydrocele. They gave me a shot of ceftriaxone and told me to continue with the doxycycline. The ceftriaxone helped a great deal (swelling went down almost immediately) but as I continued the course of doxy the problem began to get worse again.
I followed up with a urologist.
My dermatologist has given me a prescription for Doxycycline as well as Epiduo Gel, which was not covered by my insurance and so i was not able to get that. It seems to me that there are some similarities between this antibiotic and Accutane. Maybe not as severe side effects but the overall impression I am getting is that Accutane is more effective and if closely monitored, safer. Is this true? My doctor didnt give me the impression that there was much I needed to be worried about.

I can't remember if you are taking Mepron or Malarone but my hematologist blamed Malarone, more than the Babesia, for my anemia. Please keep a close watch on the blood work. When I landed in the hospital due to my Anemia it was 3 days after my blood had been checked and shown I was NOT anemic. That is how fast it went south.
After my transfusions I felt so much better, it was a miracle. Knock wood, my Babesia was gone that fast.
How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
where did the pills come from?
I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I took single dose of doxycycline everyday for 6 weeks during the summer. Would that have cleared a chamydia infection.
