For 12 years I have been diagnosed/undiagnosed (back and forth) with Lupus of the Central Nervous System. Last year, August 2008, I was diagnosed with Lymes disease after having 5 out of 7 bars show up on my IGM Lymes test. I was treated twice with Doxycycline (2 mos.) for the Lymes but the treatment did not work and the doctors suspected that I may not have Lupus but had Lymes the entire time. In July 2009, a year later, I was tested and the IGM Lymes test was again positive.
I have been on doxycycline for about three weeks and i still have all of the original symptoms. I made an appt with a lyme specialist, who I have not seen yet. My primary doctor said the lyme might be late stage and I might need IV. In the mean time I was sent to a neurologist. He said it is very rare to get those symptoms from lyme and that I should be tested for lupus and ms. He said you can test a false positive and I might not actually have lyme.
Hi all. Ive had lupus since 2009 with complete remission in October 2013 after going gluten free. I've felt great and Ben keeping up with my three boys! Then disaster, in May I started with fever and unexplained pains. Evaluated for lots of things but nothing definite = VIRAL or perhaps Lupus flare with atypical symptoms.
I have an Auto Immune Disorder of the connective tissue as labeled by my Rheumatologist. I take Plaquenil 200mg, and Arava 20mg daily. I have been on the Plaquenil for over a year and the Arava for 5-6 months. I am still having flares and experiencing pain on a daily basis. I'm a 28 year old male. My tested positive for ANA but the doctor hasn't labeled me with Lupus. I see my Rheumatologist on the 18th of December and I'm looking for the next step in my treatment.
The first derm denied it could be the doxycycline however second derm said it probably was the doxycycline as she has had patients on doxy experience hair loss but assured me it would grow back. She told me to come back in three months but im so worried about it constantly and dont want to go bald. Most of hair loss seems to be on the back of head near neck/nape area and front, my part is also thinning.

Sorry you are going through all this and all the loss. It is hard. First I just want to say that regarding Lupus, just because you have a positive ANA doesn't mean you have Lupus. There are at least 6 tests you need to have positive before accepting a diagnosis with that. Lyme can give you a false positive ANA as well as other diseases. So, you need further testing to be diagnosed for Lupus. anti DNA is one of them. Problem is only about 50-75% have the antibody.
How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
where did the pills come from?
I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I contacted my LLMD and he started me on high doses of Doxycycline and took it for 3.5 weeks before I started to develop a rash on my arms. The left arm was worse from driving so I figured I would STOP the Doxy and DID.
That was OVER a WEEK ago and I have STAYED out of the sun. My rash is increasing WORSE and SPREADING up my arm and down to my fingers! I went to my walk-in clinic and they wouldn't treat me ... said I needed to see the prescribing doctor of the Doxy!
She was taken off the antibiotics after going to Urgent Care and since then has visited her pcp, dermatologists, dermatopathologists (2) who took biopsies, rheumatologists, an endocrinologist and no one appears to know what is going on with her. She tests positive for Lupus on first blood test, then after a workup from rheumatologist it comes out negative. She has been given prednisone and cortisone shots but they don't last long.
I was referred to a rheumatologist who ran all the tests - RA, lupus, etc, which all came back negative. I was put on prednisone for a week and noticed dramatic improvement. Therefore my rheumatologist says it is definitely an inflammatory arthritis. I am now on Lodine, and Sulfasalazine. They seem to be helping somewhat. I haven't been on the sulfasalazine long enough to receive the full effects. I am so discouraged that I do not know what is causing this.
I seem to be having a rash reaction to Doxycycline and have taken Benedryl...so far, no other symptoms after 10 hours. If I keep taking Doxy for the next 10 days, will my symptoms likely get worse or stay the same? With such a long half life, I'm likely to have this experience for several days anyway.
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?
2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?
