For 12 years I have been diagnosed/undiagnosed (back and forth) with Lupus of the Central Nervous System. Last year, August 2008, I was diagnosed with Lymes disease after having 5 out of 7 bars show up on my IGM Lymes test. I was treated twice with Doxycycline (2 mos.) for the Lymes but the treatment did not work and the doctors suspected that I may not have Lupus but had Lymes the entire time. In July 2009, a year later, I was tested and the IGM Lymes test was again positive.
Headaches, joint pain swelling and inflammation. I also have had tingling in my arms and legs. My feet and hands stay cold especially my feet. I have extreme exhaustion no matter how much sleep I get. Both my doctor and dermatologist seems to think it’s possibly lupus but every ana I have done is negative.
He said it is very rare to get those symptoms from lyme and that I should be tested for lupus and ms. He said you can test a false positive and I might not actually have lyme. I now have to wait until I have the spinal tap and mri. Of course I am a little bit nervous and I was just wondering if anyone else had similiar symptoms with lyme, or might it be something more serious.
It can reduce skin problems in lupus and prevent swelling/pain in arthritis-like conditions, though it is not known exactly how the drug works on autoimmune diseases. My guess is that it treats one or more chronic infections that are present.

First one checked iron, thyroid, lupus, and testostrone levels and everything came back normal. The first derm denied it could be the doxycycline however second derm said it probably was the doxycycline as she has had patients on doxy experience hair loss but assured me it would grow back. She told me to come back in three months but im so worried about it constantly and dont want to go bald.
If you have it with the positive anti DNA test then you probably have it. Also, get the complement tests CH50 and C3 and C4 to see if they are low. In lupus they usually are low. And anti RNP antibodies that is antibodies against your Ribonuclear protein. With a complete blood count usually if you are actively ill your platelet count and white blood cell count will be low and that is without treatment.
Doxycycline 100 mgm by mouth twice/day for 6 weeks and then once/day for 3-6 months is a common treatment of blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. It is not so much antibacterial as antiinflammatory and gets into the oild gland. That's the reason its also used for acne. There is a new product that is specific for blepharitis but I don't have the details or brand name. None of these cause floaters.
instead, i juz told her my prob and she diagnosed me wif oesophagus reflux(side effect of doxycycline) meanin the acid in my stomach traveled up to my esophagus causing irritation and prescibe me wif anacid.
i read somewhere that if i were to take doxycycline, i must not take anacid because it will lessen the effectiveness of doxycycline.
so, now i'm at a lost again..
I was just diagnosed with lyme disease and will be taking Doxycycline for 30 days. Can anyone tell me if I must avoid dairy entirely or just avoid it a couple of hours before and after taking this antibiotics?

Has anyone had low dose doxycycline (50mg) used for rosacea or used any antibiotic and got severe vertigo 40 minutes after taking it? I had dizzyness then vertigo and my right ear went deaf then I almost fell but my husband caught me and I got nauseated, tired and cold. It only lasted for about 20-30 seconds. I have been sore from almost falling and jerking myself and tired all day.

I suggest you lay off the internet. You're obviously very anxious about all this, and in that state of mind you will only find information to inflame and prolong your fears. All is well; nothing bad is going to come from this.

see your doctor. and realize that you canNOT treat all STDs and that MDs do NOT have good tests for all STDs. some STDS we just call em when we see them. so they can say "i don't think you have herpes" but then you could have it. unless they do a blood test

I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?
