I was recently traveling and have been taking 100mg of Doxycycline per day as an anti malarial drug. First dose was taken on March 4th.
On March 17-18 I had an episode of travelers diarrhea (as did at least 50% of my fellow travelers, so it must have been something at the hotel breakfast or restaurant we ate at for lunch the day before).
Shortly thereafter, around March 29th, I came down with a common cold. My poor body feels like a war zone!!!
100mg twice a day, with lots of water, an hour before meals, as instructed. During the course I experienced severe bloating, trapped gas, abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, and belching (burping). The probiotics I was taking didn't seem to make any difference.
I knew that any of the Tetracycline antibiotics, and especially Doxycycline, could have gastro side effects, and I stuck with the pills, after contacting my GP who prescribed them.
The doxycycline gave me a lot of problem heart burn a lot of gas and a lot of anxietey. I finished my course and took four tablets of azythromycine the very next day i finished my course. It did the same gave me lots of gas.
The date was 13th of feburary.
I got a rash on my penis(16th of feb) a few days later I went to a doctor and he prescribed me cipro. I took one tablet and it gave me a itchy face that was on the 17th. The rash dissapeared but it was due to yeast infection.
Hi there, why did your Doctor place you on Doxycycline in the first instance? This may be a contributing factor and may have caused a side effect common with some anti-biotics.
If you have probiotic imbalance, some bugs might produce more gas than before, and the increase in gas will slow down the fecal passage.
There are some approaches to change this, depending on what has happened.
a) make a lactulose breath test to make sure no bacteria has moved into your small intestine.
b) take probiotics to refill the missing ones
c) diet change option 1) stay clear from sugars and carbs for a small while.
It feels like some microbe or parasite in my stomach comes out and makes a gas that bloats my stomach or upper intestines. (This is different from the usual gas in the lower intestines.)
One of my doctors says I have H. pylori, and I wonder if that could cause this symptom?
Also, I probably have very low stomach acid, and I do better if I take a Betaine HCl capsule before meals. Taking digestive enzymes and Betaine HCl helps to prevent the terrible bloating/need-to-burp symptom.
How affective is doxycycline 100mg when taken for a period of seven days to cure infections and std's present in the body alone with a shot a penicillin.
where did the pills come from?
I took Doxycycline for 10 days to treat a sinus infection. A week after finishing the Doxy I developed a sore throat and sore tongue. I'm assuming it is a reaction to the drug. How long will this stay in my system and is there anything I can take to alleviate the reaction?

My stomach also pain as well. I got given doxycycline. It helped but I dont understand why my private part enlarge when I urine or sometimes it was normal when my size is normal to urine. Previously i had low risk last two years ago but now am I at risk again?

I was given 500mg Azithromycin which appeared to clear symptons (discomfort when passing stools, mucus discharge, gas) within 48hours. I also took Doxycycline and Valaciclovir for around 10 days as a precaution until I was cleared of Chlamyda and herpes. In the last two days I have felt some discomfort inside my anus again, and today I noticed more mucus was still on my stool. Could this still be my body healing from the infection, or could it be back/something else?
I also felt some cramps in my pelvic area above my genitals. Also I started having a lot of gas with the cramps.
I went to my usual doctor (different than the urologist) to see if he had a different diagnosis. He said that the gas was unrelated and that the urethra discomfort could be many different things. I told him that I was freaking out because I thought I might have genital herpes.
He said that it might just be a reaction from the numbing agent inside of the condom.
I seem to be having a rash reaction to Doxycycline and have taken Benedryl...so far, no other symptoms after 10 hours. If I keep taking Doxy for the next 10 days, will my symptoms likely get worse or stay the same? With such a long half life, I'm likely to have this experience for several days anyway.
1) Would 5 days of doxycycline and on day 6 the 1.5 g zithromax cure chlamydia if present?
2) I used zithromax back in july for an ear infections. Would this build up resistance against chlamydia due to overuse of zithromax?
