My wife in the 2nd week of her 6th chemo session of carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. Most of the side effects are predictable and have been increasing in severity over the sessions. For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain".
Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it.
I knew that any of the Tetracycline antibiotics, and especially Doxycycline, could have gastro side effects, and I stuck with the pills, after contacting my GP who prescribed them. I finished the course, and after three weeks, my digestive system still hadn't normalized.
My GP then put me on a 10 day course of Nexium (a proton pump inhibitor) in case I had an ulcer. I took one 40mg tablet per day, as instructed, but this didn't seem to make any difference.
My question is, would the increase in acid reflux and stomach pain be a likely side effect of the doxycycline. I know doxycycline can cause acid reflux or stomach pain right after you take it, but could it cause it many hours later? What about the itchy bumps on my arm? I know doxycycline can make your skin sensitive to light, so might that be a skin reaction caused by it?

as well - no energy or power ! it robbs you of normal energy or power
you had , no get up and go.. it got up and went with the benicar and other meds for b.p. its best to ask your Doctor to take you off it, asap
and switch to something that isnt so harsh on you !
On the other hand, the medications he provided have side effects and you have described many of them. Both doxycycline and azithromycin are associated with the sorts of GI side effects you describe. Further, taking powerful antibiotics of this sort typically increase the risk for getting fungal infections such as thrush. The rashes you describe on your penis and foreskin could also very well be fungal infections as well and are VERY unlikely to be related to HIV.
I have been prescribed Acebutolol for PVC's and I am literally exhausted since beginning this medication but I didn't see that as one of the side effects. Also, my vision is blurred. Is this normal?
ll bet the infection was never culturd snd it may be entirely resistant to Doxycycline. Shortness of breath if NOT a side effect of Doxycycline.
