Avatar n tn It is a broad spectrum antibiotic and works by slowing the growth of bacteria in the body. The usual side effects include headache, body aches, skin rash and loss of appetite. (ref: http://www.drugs.com/doxycycline.html) Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed doxycycline for ureaplasma infection and developed a red, itchy rash over my face and body with the first dose. My doctor switched me to azithromycin, which I took without problems. A few months later the infection is back, and the doctor wants to try minocyline instead. I got a itchy rash on my chin and my neck and arms are somewhat itchy after one dose. Am I experiencing allergies to these drugs or just side effects? Should I avoid tetracyclines?
Avatar f tn This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. Doxycycline, like other tetracycline-class antibiotics, can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman.
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
Avatar m tn If that hasn’t happened yet, you have nothing to worry about. The chances of other side effects (rash, etc) are negligible. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Do the new drugs come with their own side effects besides the ones that soc come with? Not sure if I asked that right, I'm still waiting for everything to come together but if the new meds come with even worse side effects than one might already get maybe that's another reason to treat now.
Avatar n tn I would check out the meds again, just to be on the safe side, as meds do have side effects try to take them off one at a time see if it makes a differance, you are on quite a mix of meds.
Avatar f tn sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP! Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
1089121 tn?1256818742 oh yes these are some of the wounderful side effects of tx,do check with your dr.about your hives to make sure its not a reaction but my dr. put me on tiamcinolone cream for the rash,it does tin to help.
Avatar m tn It is day 17 now and I woke up this morning terrified to see my tongue and gums being covered by a whitish plaque. I trued to follow up with doxycycline side effects on the net, but for oral symptoms the information is patchy at best. I may have one small lymph swelling on my left neck (I believe), no fever, no sweats, no chills. Could this nevertheless be a symptom of ARS? Time-wise, it is possible, isn't it? Or is it just a side effect of over 10 days of taking doxycycline? Please help!
Avatar f tn s office and asked about these symptoms, the nurse stated the doctor said these were not normal side effects. How do I get my Oncologist to see that I am having these problems and to treat them?
Avatar n tn And I am even more sorry you are having an upset stomach. Common doxycycline side effects include an upset stomach and I was surprised to read that also fairly common is an unexplained rash. Of course a skin reaction to sunlight is also a side effect. You can take the medication with or without food. I was going to suggest hat you take it with milk but you cannot take it with milk or other dairy products, unless your doctor has told you to.
Avatar m tn My question is, would the increase in acid reflux and stomach pain be a likely side effect of the doxycycline. I know doxycycline can cause acid reflux or stomach pain right after you take it, but could it cause it many hours later? What about the itchy bumps on my arm? I know doxycycline can make your skin sensitive to light, so might that be a skin reaction caused by it?
Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced side effects from this?? I have taken it before but the next day after I took it this time.. I started to get joint pain in knee and elbows real bad with some hand pain..

Avatar n tn is it possible that the rash is the result of taking the Ofloxacin, and more specifically, perhaps the result of a build up of bacteria (yeast)? If so, will taking the Doxycycline clear up the rash, or will it just increase the amount of yeast bacteria build up, and thus worsen a rash that could be the result of excess candida in the body?
337492 tn?1212458836 I am starting to feel better, but I am having side effects. I have been on the lithium for a year so I am not worried about it, but I feel jittery, am shaky, and my heart rate is staying at 100 BPM. Will this calm down as the med gets in my system? 150 mg per day taken at 75 mg x2. I just want to make sure I will be ok. I see my new doctor on Tuesday. Thanks.
1098097 tn?1258142472 If he is experiencing an increase in heart palpitations while taking Florinef, I would recommend asking his doctor to check his Potassium level. Florinef can deplete the body of Potassium, which can cause all sorts of unusual side effects. Not to mention the fact that patients with Dysautonomia are notorious for being particularly intolerant to any electrolyte imbalance. The reaction you describe does sound a bit more like an allergic reaction though.
