just pain in lower abdominal area. I took doxycycline and started peeing better but the pain is now permenent. any suggestions? tests? prostate maybe? who should i go see?
Urologist put me on 10 days of Doxycycline. I took the complete dosage and the day after my last dose, when I masturbated, my semen was thick, and yellow. Almost like mucus.
Is this a normal side effect of the medication ?
She put me on it due to urethritis and what she felt was prostatitis...
It just seemed strange the thickness and color but I know medications can do things like that.

Its been three days after I completed my course of Doxycycline and still I feel tired and feverish,also my face is itchy on cheek and around my lips,mild headache,pain in thighs and some times my testicles pain.
I have an appointment with urologisit this friday.
It will be a great help if you can advise me what it is? based on your experience.

Well, I caught something on February 22nd of this year after receiving oral sex. I'm male by the way. I have tested TWICE for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea and came clean and one test for NGU which I came clean. I was first given Zithromax 1.5g over three days which helped the discomfort in my urethra. In addition to the irritable urethra, there was a strong burning sensation on the surface of the glans and part of my foreskin.
On having a PSA test done he had a reading of 58. Is his chances of having Prostate Cancer greater with a reading as high as this or will the prostate shrink?.
Prostatitis or inflammation of the prostate gland that can cause urinary frequency, urgency, and pain. With regards to the numbness in your palms and feet, this could be due to peripheral neuropathy which can be associated with medical conditions such as diabetes and nerve issues. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Additional diagnostic tests may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
A CYSTOSCOPY WAS ORDERED ON 9/26/13. THIS SHOWED A NARROW URETHRA AND INFECTION. PLACED ON DOXYCYCLINE TWICE A DAY FOR 30 DAYS. THIS WAS FOLLOWED ON 10/22/13 WITH URINALYSIS AND FOLLOW-UP ON 10/29/13. URINALSIS SHOWED CLEAR BUT KEPT ON DOXYCYCLINE ONCE A DAY FOR ITU PREVENTION.
My wife is on Doxycycline 2x day. If I have Chlamydia or a UTI infection, or prostate for that matter, would the Doxy sucessfully block/treat it? I had a prescription for bactrim and my wife (MD) suggested that I start it as I indicated I felt like I was getting another prostate infection. (I had only taken one pill evening b4 tests at clinic). If I do not have an std, I am incredibly fortunate and lucky and do not intend to tell her.
So I made an appointment with a urologist, talked about the symptoms, and had a prostate exam.. He said the prostate was normal size for a man my age, and that it wasn't inflamed by an acute infection, because it would have been extremely painful during the examination, and it wasn't.
Today they called me and said my culture tests came back negative, no bacteria found. That being said, they started me on a 3 week cycle of doxycycline when I went in for the appointment and exam.
Well it can be a number of causes, assuming you are a healthy young individual and there is no irregularities of the testicular tissue to the touch, it could be just a simple bacterial infection of the tubes that transfer sperm, that is progressing towards the prostate. However this is no diagnosis and what you have stated is not enough to make one, go to a doctor, as things that are diagnosed early are treated easily and efficiently.
I recieved oral sex 8 weeks ago and I had the flu and then really sharp penis pain. My penis went numb and was in pain, then the doctor prescribed me DOXYCYCLINE, and the pain was better. I have been tested for stds and they all came back negative. but I still have some penis pain though, I got off of the med a couple of days ago. What could this be any clues.
ive taken pain relievers so the pain subsided and I went to the hospital for examination, ultrasound and ct stonogram was conducted the result I got I have a enlarged prostate grade 2 kidneys are normal, so the urologist gives me treatment, levofloxacin 500mg/day for 14 days, after medication my prostate is still swelling because of poor urination,and the doctor given me a different antibiotic cefixime200mg/2xday for 1 week, after medication the stream of my urine is still poor.
• Doctor was convinced it was an STD, despite my skepticism. Received shot for gonorrhea, and took doxycycline for 2 weeks. I was disciplined with the regimen and finished all of the antibiotics.
• Discharge stopped, symptoms did not.
• Irritation has migrated to anus/rectum in conjunction with same irritation in penis. Visit E.R. once more and the doctor thinks it's a prostate infection. Get a prescription for Ciprofloxacin and, again, take all of the antibiotics on schedule.
My doc prescribed him and myself antibiotics to bring that down, doxycycline (sp?) and I am proceeding with ivf. We have to take it for 2 weeks.
Afterwards, I immediately became paranoid about the STD risk. I dug through my medicine cabinet and found doxycycline that I had leftover from a skin problem. They were 100mg pills and I had 15 of them left. The evening of Sep 30, I began taking these pills and took 2 per day until I finished them (on 10/8). I later examined the bottle and realized I misread the dates & didn't realize how old these were. The pills were from July 2007 and expired in July 2008.
Four weeks ago I began experiencing irritation and sever burning in my urinary tract. I went to a doctor, and they of course thought it might be an std. They gave me a 'cocktail' of antibiotics, as well as running urinalysis and blood test. A few days later it got very extreme, painful and burning. I went back to see the Dr and he had the test back... normal. They also prescribed Ciprofloxacin, which I took for 10 days, with no change.
I went to a urologist and he prescribed me doxycycline and did a swab test and checked my prostate with an ultrasound machine (atleast that's what i think it was) and everything was normal. After a week i came back and the swab test was negative, but the doctor prescribed me doxycycline again for a week just in case. The symptoms disappeared, however after 1 or 2 weeks they started coming back and now, a month after, the discharge is white again and the urination is uncomfortable.
I am worried that my urologist will find nothing during my prostate exam, proscribe nothing, my prostate deteriorate into prostatitis and worse, when I could have done more to try to kill it, like take more antibiotics at an early stage.
I have felt a bit of pain in my anal area and during masturbation I cannot will an erection with my mind, only use physical stimulation.
I have frequent urination and scrotum swollen. I tested twice with STD check for 10 panel test and all test came negative. Then I went to my doctor he said for ultrasound and ultrasound showed varicocele only but I had WBC in my urine test so, my doctor said it could be epidydmisis that didn't show in ultrasound and gave me doxycycline for 10 days with an injection. But my condition has not improved. I still have urge to urinate and painless swollen in scrotum. Please help me.
I immediately went to the dr and the dr said he thought I had an enlarged prostate and was giving terozosin and doxycycline. After taking the meds for 4 days, I was not feeling better so when I called the dr back, the dr scheduled me for for a CT scan. Results came back normal, and told me my prostate was not even enlarged and there should be no pain. I stopped taking the meds right away, and I started experiencing new symptoms.
I thought I had urethritis, and that is what my primary care thought also, but I went to see a urologist and he showed me with DRE that it is referred pain from prostate and what I really have is chronic aseptic prostatitis. In my case, this turned out to be related somehow to Crohn's disease, possibly from calcium oxalate crystals getting into the prostate. Cipro made me feel a lot worse. Flomax helps a lot with my symptoms.
The pain seems to come and go throughout the day but sometimes lasts for hours. Went to doctor and he suspected std and tested by swabbing and drawing several tubes of blood. He also gave me an antibiotic injection and 4 azythromiacin tablets to take in one dose.
However, All std tests came back negative. These symptoms are still present. Burning feeling inside penis and at tip. Occasional pain behind testicles.
