Avatar n tn Depending on how often the doxy is taken, it might be possible to create a 'window' around, say, lunch, and eat dairy then. I cut dairy out of my diet a while back, and get calcium from other things. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Good plant sources of calcium include: -- Green leafy vegetables: spring greens, kale, broccoli, parsley. (Spinach is not a good source of calcium.
Avatar n tn have consumed small amounts of dairy. there is 5 more days of the med to be taken. it seems to be working despite consuming the small amounts of milk/cheese. will avoid it for 2 hours from the dose. is there anything else i need to do. thank you!
Avatar f tn I had sex with my girlfriend within the time frame of me receiving oral and feeling the onset of symptoms I then went into a walk-in clinic where the physician diagnosed me with doxycycline for 7 days. I felt as if they were working and by the end of the 7 days felt normal. About 5 days later I felt the pain in my restocked, groin, lower abdomen and lower back return.
Avatar f tn Here is a great article about food interactions with drugs sometimes used to treat Lyme and coinfections. I have been on a few of the meds listed in the artIcle, and I was unaware of these conflicts, especially dairy / calcium with the tetracyclines (Doxycycline, Minocycline) & fluroquinolones (Cipro, Avelox, Levaquin). It also mentions that caffeine, and therefore chocolate, can interfere with some antibiotics, but then doesn't say which ones. http://health.yahoo.
Avatar m tn A week ago my doctor gave me doxycycline hydrate to fight off an infection that is causing me to have a itchy urethra. My doctor did not do a swap test or anything but thought i had a bacterial infection. Present day ( a week of the medication) I still feel the itchiness and am thinking that I have a yeast infection. I've heard eating yogurt can help fight it, but what about dairy free yogurt? Would eating one container of dairy free yogurt help?
Avatar n tn Hi Grarro, It was my understanding that you could drink moderately with most ATB's. But to double check I did some searching on the internet. The following is from a trusted web site. BEGIN QUOTE: "There are many myths about mixing alcohol and antibiotics and most of them are just myths and nothing more! It's one of the great myths that mixing antibiotics with alcohol can seriously mess you up.
Avatar n tn I got a rash on the back of my neck back in December. It got worse and spread. I was put different medications. The first med was Fluocinolone Acetonide Body Oil the end of December. It didn't work. The next script was for Doxycycline Monohydrate 100mg Tabs and Cetirizine 5mg Tablets for one month this was in January. That didn't work. Then they did a biopsy and said it was Eczema. I was told to use Triamcinolone 0.1% Ointment 454gm. This was end of January.
237053 tn?1258828426 Has anyone else heard that taking magnesium and calcium supplements can limit the effectiveness of Doxycycline? I am a non-dairy person and need my extra calcium supplement, but have put it aside until I am done with the meds for a while. I read this somewhere, but was wondering if you might have too.
20826486 tn?1525451937 I am having random, itchy red bumps appear on the right side of my face only, mainly at my jawline and sometimes cheek area. It comes and goes at all different times and I have not been able to pinpoint what is causing it. I do not eat dairy and have recently pulled out gluten. I can wake up with my face fine and then randomly throughout the day...my face starts to itch and red little bumps appear.
997730 tn?1254278376 Good grief. I think my GP prescribed me an antibiotic that might cause liver damage. (Doxycycline) Last Thurs I developed a huge boil on my chin, it was clearly infected and grew huge in just 2 days, so I went to the GP (who knows I'm on tx), and she prescribed Doxycycline (100mg 2 times a day for 7 days). I've been taking them at a different time than my Riba, which is a good thing because I just puked my guts out.
Avatar f tn the past 2 days i have eating dairy with dinner and i think this is setting it off. i feel fine all day until i eat dinner.
10456541 tn?1427998737 The past couple of weeks though it has been making me very nauseous and makes my stomach hurt SO bad! I even ate some pizza the other day and the dairy from the cheese hurt my stomach. Is there any other way to get calcium?
541609 tn?1273879848 dairy and pregnancy. It just talked about high fat dairy being a link to fertility. Check it out and see if any of it makes sense to you guys...
Avatar f tn I am six months now and am very limited on dairy. I was at the doctors today and he said a lot of pregnant women go through this and to make sure to get calcium by other means.
Avatar f tn Is it weird that dairy products are the only thing I can seem to consume without feeling bloated, nauseous, and or groggy?
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor, Here is my situation, i was diagnosed with chlamydia two months ago. The cause should be from one of these three scenario: (1) I have unprotected sex 2 years and 10 months ago. I undergo HIV test and it's negative. (2) I have protected and unprotected sex with my partner. We are still together since 1 year and 10 months ago. (3) I have protected vaginal sex and protected oral sex, fingering with a social sex worker .
Avatar f tn on my meds, he actually stood there thinking, and almost with a throw-this-in-for-good-measure tone, said to have no dairy 2 hours before or after taking this....I haven't found anything regarding dairy and methimazole on the internet or the printout the pharmacy gave me. Just curious about the dairy/methimazole issue. Thanks!
Avatar m tn It says on my packet not to have any dairy products for 2 hours after taking the medication. I looked it up and dairy products inhibit the workings of the thyroxine medication. have others been told this?
Avatar m tn I am an avid runner and biker. I have always taken care of my diet and eat as fresh and as healthily as possible. Before now I have had a bowel movement 3 times per day. About 4 months go I began having bouts of severe constipation that last between 7 and 10 days. I have had xrays and a CT done and they say everything is fine. The only thing that happened prior to these bouts of constipation is that I got a severe infection following a tetanus shot. It was so bad I could not move my arm.

Avatar n tn Doxycycline 100 mgm by mouth twice/day for 6 weeks and then once/day for 3-6 months is a common treatment of blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. It is not so much antibacterial as antiinflammatory and gets into the oild gland. That's the reason its also used for acne. There is a new product that is specific for blepharitis but I don't have the details or brand name. None of these cause floaters.
Avatar m tn instead, i juz told her my prob and she diagnosed me wif oesophagus reflux(side effect of doxycycline) meanin the acid in my stomach traveled up to my esophagus causing irritation and prescibe me wif anacid. i read somewhere that if i were to take doxycycline, i must not take anacid because it will lessen the effectiveness of doxycycline. so, now i'm at a lost again..
Avatar f tn Has anyone had low dose doxycycline (50mg) used for rosacea or used any antibiotic and got severe vertigo 40 minutes after taking it? I had dizzyness then vertigo and my right ear went deaf then I almost fell but my husband caught me and I got nauseated, tired and cold. It only lasted for about 20-30 seconds. I have been sore from almost falling and jerking myself and tired all day.
Avatar m tn either ceftriaxone (Rocephin) or doxycycline would abort incubating syphilis, and the two together guarantees syphilis would be eradicated. I suggest you lay off the internet. You're obviously very anxious about all this, and in that state of mind you will only find information to inflame and prolong your fears. All is well; nothing bad is going to come from this.
Avatar f tn Does it occur when you're breathing? Are you short of breath?
984138 tn?1359813073 I'm not an MD and not medically trained, but to my knowledge, doxycycline would not treat a yeast infection. Doxy is an antibiotic that treats only bacteria (including Lyme), not yeast (which is in the fungus family). In addition, antibiotics wipe out not only 'bad' bacteria but also the 'good' bacteria that protect your body against fungal infections. It may be that the receptionist at the MD's office got things confused. I would check to be sure.
