Avatar n tn Sorry i did not mentioned it. im not diabetic. Actually my doctor gave me the tabs with PCOS tabs. so should i continue with diabetes tabs or not. Thanks again!
Avatar m tn Do bear in mind portion sizes - you can find information on the web regarding portion sizes of different foods. Do remember that all food is broken down by the body into energy. All refined carbohydrate foods (bread, cakes, biscuits, lemonades) will spike up your sugar levels very quickly. The foods that you should be eating are the slow release energy foods - non refined foods, foods that contain fibre and protein.

Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response and answers to my question. My son is learning to deal with insulin. They are learning to read the labels on foods, portion sizes, counting carbs, etc. I am proud of him, as he is taking this serious. I told his wife that she needed to make him responsible for taking his insulin, because he has a tendency to want to be taken care of. She said he already stated he wanted her to give him his shots.
706214 tn?1244523049 You need to figure out how many calories you need daily, watch your portion sizes and get a good balance of all of the food groups. The less sugar and refined foods (white bread, rice, etc) you eat the better. But remember that not all carbs are bad for you. You also don't mention whether or not you exercise. If not, walking is always a good way to start.
Avatar f tn Make one to two changes per week like cutting portion sizes, or cutting back on junk foods. Time will pass you by if you chose to do nothing. Sticking to a healthy lifestyle is more meaningful and will be more rewarding that sticking to a diet. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn like carbs, fat, or protein, I would really try to concentrate more on portion sizes and avoiding highly processed foods. Maybe start by checking out my first blog post (Eat Less, Do More - Repeat) and check out www.theflexdiet.com for some fun approaches too! I think you would benefit from starting with a good food diary to see where you can start making some small changes - I agree that you don't want to try to do this to rapidly.
Avatar n tn my wife is diabetic and is losing it allot slower it depends on what meds you are on and probably a better diet just eat normal good meals maybe increase portion sizes but just watch your size to weight ratio and most important tell doc and work with him or a nutritionist
Avatar f tn Instead, focus on good complex carbs vs bad simple carbs, what foods these are and portion sizes your body can accept. Google search simple vs complex carbs to see what they are. Fruits contain fruit sugar, fructose. Not all fruits are the same. Berries and melons contain the least amount where tropical fruits - pineapples, mangoes, etc - contain the most fructose. Again, use Google search to understand the different levels.
777555 tn?1402323978 Chicken breast is a good, filling low fat thing to try (I eat chicken practically every day!) as an alternative to fattier meats. Carefully measure your portion sizes - you shouldnt really be eating more than about 60g of rice or pasta per portion for example. You'll find that monitoring your portion sizes and eating more veg instead of meat & will save you money!
649848 tn?1534633700 You don't really have to have a plan you pay for; simply watching portion sizes and eating real food vs processed foods, is a great "diet". There are some great websites that give great information on portion sizes, calorie needs, exercise information, etc. I can help you find them, if you like.
Avatar m tn Do not base your nutritional plan on the Glycemic Index or Glycemic Load. What the GI or GL fail to mention are carbohydrates. Carbs are quickly digested. The easier a food is digested the quicker its sugars enter your bloodstream. Type 2 diabetics must pay careful attention to the amount of carbs eaten. Consider carbs as an equal to table sugar. On nutrition labels carb sugars are listed in grams. Every 7 grams equals one heaping Tablespoon of refined sugar.
Avatar m tn Postprandial rises are usually contributed to the foods you eat. Avoid foods made with white flour - breads, crackers - overcooked pasta, white rice, and potatoes as these quickly get digested. The quicker a food is digested the quicker their sugars enter your bloodstream. Doesn't mean you cannot eat these foods just pay careful attention to portion sizes. Also, lowering your carbohydrate intake helps a lot too.
Avatar n tn Most vegetable have so few calories that you can eat almost as much as you want without worrying about portion sizes. You should also make sure you add healthy fats to each meal in the form of olive or coconut oil, avocados, nuts and nut butters, seeds, etc. Since you are diabetic, you should limit fruit to about 1 serving/day since fruit has a lot of sugar and will spike your blood sugar.
Avatar n tn A bloated tummy in an otherwise slim person may also be a sign of food intollerances. Google Celiac / Coeliac and see if this could apply to you. If so, you could ask your doctor for testing / do an elimination diet.
Avatar f tn Forgot to mention -- watch your portion sizes.
Avatar f tn How much weight are you trying to lose? Have you done anything to "start" losing, such as changing your diet, reducing portion sizes, exercising, etc?
539156 tn?1281818356 I started on Flex to learn the portion sizes and amounts, and changed to Core about 1 month in. If your materials are older, it is well worth joining again to get the latest materials, or join online. Core is really the same thing as Flex, only you don't count points for every single thing you eat like you do on Flex. On Core, there are groups of foods that you don't have to count, as long as you eat them in sensible portions.
Avatar f tn Hi my mother is patient of diabetic 2 she is 55 year old .
Avatar f tn The bottom line, really is to watch portion sizes. If a container has more than one serving, make sure you eat only one, not the entire container.
Avatar f tn My doc said that must women tend to lose a couple pounds in their last few weeks, I'd assume its because your stomach is squished giving you the illusion of being full
