I've been tryign to go as all natural and close to organic as I can afford, and my doctor said South Beach diet really good. So I got the book from my motherinlaw today... and a recipe book.

While I had never sought health foods or organic foods in the past, I am quickly evolving into someone who is very suspicious of food additives, growth hormones and antibiotics in the American diet. My best recommendation would be to speak to his doctor or a nutritionist to come up with a meal plan that will factor in both his preferences and his medical needs. Avatar f tn Hello, im 18 and I weigh 247.4 lbs & I am 5ft 5inchs. My goal is 185 by Feb 14 2014. The app wants me to do an about 900 calorie intake a day. I don't drink sodas, maybe root beer once in a great while & im not diabetic but mosty only eat sugar free foods anyways. Im severe asthmatic from birth so I still push myself to play tennis & walk even at struggle to breath. I really need to lose weight not only for my physical health and my mental illnesses, but to feel better.
Avatar f tn Her mouth would become dry and sore, and she would never enjoy her foods, because the feed would always be down the tube. What else could she enjoy, if no longer this? However, if she carried on to eat there was the risk of developing pnuemonia because of aspirating foods and liquids into the lungs. I do no know what the extent of yours mothers condition was as stroke effects people in many different ways and is such a complex thing.

I can only answer from my own experience, both as a chld and now as an adult, but several common-sense things come to mind. First, I would give her doctor a call before she leaves in case he has any suggestions for you. It appears that her glucose control is within acceptable ranges from her last ha1c, so the important thing will be to keep doing whatever you are doing now while she is traveling.

Avatar n tn I have been diabetic since I was 4 and one of the things I have had to adjust for the entire time is seasonal changes. Activity level changes, body fat content starts going up a bit, which changes the absorption rate of whatever meds are used, etc. This time of year I still have to adjust my meds, and forget about Thanksgiving! Keep the glucometer handy. Kids are growing also, which makes regulation even more challenging! I, personally, start an incremental change starting around Sept 15.

Avatar n tn If they contain lots of fats, your body may not be digesting them fully until long after foods normally digest. I find that when I eat foods high in fat, such as pizza or french fries, my glucose will drop low at first because those foods are not digesting yet when my quick-acting insulin is peaking. Later on, I tend to find my glucose levels rising as those fatty foods digest.

If your thyroid hormone levels are not adequate, even if they are in the so-called "normal" ranges, weight loss is going to be very difficult, if not impossible. Are you on a thyroid replacement medication? Another thing is eating a lot of fruit is not good for a diabetic because even though it's "natural" the sugar in fruit still spikes your blood sugar, which, in turn spikes your insulin levels.
Avatar n tn I enjoy my red meat, processed foods, sugar in my coffee, and all the sugary, fat laden foods one could handle. I enjoy my lifestyle. My daughter and I found organic bananas. Paid a pretty penny got home, and they were disqusting. They sat and turned into banana bread bananas and even that wasnt good. Another time my son and I got organic cereal. I could not eat it, it looked too much like rabbit turds. By all accounts I should be diabetic. Im not.

I liked walking a lot during the beginning. I lost 15 pounds my first trimester by eating right. Now I'm 24w and I'm wanting everything because I'm finally able to eat so i have to watch it now.I really enjoy a lot of little meals threw out the day. Don't obsess about it. Love yourself!
242532 tn?1269553979 Pre-diabetic symptoms are gone. Even though I'm still overweight, I accept and even pretty much like my body now. I look at other women my age now, the vast majority of whom seem to be overweight or obese, and I generally feel like "my body is okay." I'm not sure I'll make that body fat percentage goal because the last couple of months I've been losing it so slowly, but I at least want to maintain what I've done and hopefully keep making slow progress.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but the mom of a diabetic. I would suggest you check your sugar at that time of day. To see what your sugar is. I would also discuss this with your doctor. You could just be getting a low blood sugar in the middle of the night. Good luck.

I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working. I Have noticed my stomach hurting alot and i went to the dr for that and I had a Bactria infection. A friend told me that I could have an ulcer or it could be my sugar levels.

The pain didn't go away and steadily has increased...He was seen @ our ER about 3 weeks ago CT ws done came back ok as far as pancreas .

There are some who go for nuts, grains etc.,......I personally still eat what I was eating 3 years ago with a few adjustments. One thing I did notice though was prior to RAI and TT..I avoided ALL forms of salt. And a few weeks ago, I opened a can of Beef Broth Soup (Heinz) and I just couldnt eat it as it was SO salty.
